2cato: The funny thing is thatThe rightful authorities are doing nothing about it. The banks and CBN are turning blind eye towards such development and this keep me wandering whether most of their staff are involve. Boys are not smilling. This is the most WORRYING aspect. They probably do not realize how much such NEGLIGENT attitude of financial and law enforcement authorities will erode confidence in our economy and banks both from within and foreign interests. |

The banks and CBN are turning blind eye towards such development and this keep me wandering whether most of their staff are involve. Boys are not smilling. Please don't misinform people. Banks and CBN are observing these trends. And there are Information Security Units across banks saddled with the responsibility of monitoring phishing attacks targeted to customers. Such phishing sites and emails are taken down ones they get alert that there's a phishing attempt. If you know the amount that is spent on taking down a phishing site, you won't say there are not down anything. Hackers are just persistent. Banks are doing a lot to create awareness via text messages and emails informing customers never to compromise their banking details. 1 Like |

I have been seeing many from banks and yahoomail The people most susceptible to this scam are those that use email app and especially iPad and iPhone users and safari browser. The scammers uses the feature that hid the full email address and display only the name of the mail owner which can be customised at will. Seeing Yahoomail email address and logo, some people might not even check for the full address of the sender. 2 Likes |

Mail Phishing is what it's called. Thank you for the awareness. Social Engineering still remains the technique used by millions of criminals to exploit the credulous victims since human is the weakest link in computer security. May I suggest that people reading this should not welcome any email from their banks about upgrading their account as some cyber rogues have gone to the point of using watering hole, URL hijacking, etc to steal victims information. Prevention: Security awareness. Educate Others. More so, desist from clicking on any email link you don't have knowledge of, as this may install malware on your system via client-side attack without your consent. And if Malware is installed on your system, it may take charge of your root directory, install keyloggers, backdoor, thereby recording every possible keystrokes entered on your system. Your system could as well be used as part of botnets used in attacking mainframe companies, etc. Prevention: Install Anti virus, anti malware(malwarebytes), cosmo firewall, spybot, UTMS, etc. And last but not least, stop going to porn websites, as these criminals use these websites for drive-by download. 3 Likes |

The banks and CBN are turning blind eye towards such development and this keep me wandering whether most of their staff are involve. Boys are not smilling. I disageee. Almost on a daily basis, I get from my mails from banks with which I have online accounts cautioning against clicking any link in my email asking for whatever reason. The banks will never ask you click on a link to update your account. It is very surprising people still fall for such scams. |

Sijo01: These scammers dont even know how to upgrade. They've been using this same format since 200 AD. It's not about upgrading, there are over 170,000,000 people in Nigeria, all they need is just a tad of those figures and pepper don rest. Think about it |
