A call has been made to youths across Kwara state to desist from
thuggery, gangsterism, fraud, human cannibalism and other social vices
that may mar their future and threaten peaceful co-existence in the
state.

The call was made by the Senior Special Assistant on Youth Empowerment
to the Kwara state governor, Alhaji Saka Babatunde while responding to
interview questions in his office. The Governor's Aide decries the
fall in social order across the world, stating that the rate of social
vices is alarming and it calls for collaborative counter effort in
putting an end to the menace.

"If you look around the world, social vices is on the increase;
thuggery, human cannibalism, fraud among others and Nigeria, Kwara is
not excluded in this trend. This explains why the Kwara state
government under the leadership of Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed has adopted
and prioritized youth employment and empowerment as a major way to
counter the progression of social vices among our youths" he stated.

Further speaking, ahead of the 2015 general election, Saka who
commended youth activeness in Nigeria's political sphere, urged the
youths to be sensitize not be lured into violent activities by
politicians who want to meet their selfish ends. "I commend our
youths, particularly the Kwara youths, who have displayed high level
of seriousness and enthusiasm about the need for a better society
through collaboration with government policies and reforms; I use this avenue to urge them to be alert, particularly during this election
season, so that they will not be lured into violent activities by
selfish politicians" he said.

Saka also lauded the diligence of Kwara youths of the state employment and empowerment schemes, and encouraged them to continue to support the Governor Abdulfatah led administration in ensuring youth
unemployment becomes a thing of the past in Kwara state. Currently
Kwara is rated the state with the least youth unemployment rate in
Nigeria after Osun state according to the Central Bank of Nigeria's
statistics.
