South Africa need to step in and save the situation as soon as possible. Military rule is another step backward as far as development, democracy and freedom is concerned.
God help Lesotho.

chiefinalowo: Military in 2014?
South Africa should intervene ASAP.
It happened in Mali, Egypt and Thailand and nobody intervened. Lesotho is a sovereign state. Any direct intervention will mean war.

Nigeria stepped in when the military sized power Saotomi and Principe sometimes in 2004. The then President Olusegun Obasanjo mediated between the military and the Civilian government himself.

What lesson were they taught?

F117A: The south africans were taught a lesson by the seleka rebels.
They are probably too traumatized to attempt any reckless intervention.

This is why africa will remain backward for centuries to come. Imagine coup still taking place in this age we are! Why are african people so blindfolded with this five-lettered word called 'POWER'?

It is indeed most unfortunate that the military had to carry out a coup in Lesotho in this day an age. African states must intervene before it trickles down to Nigeria.

Most excellent news.

My Nigerian Armed Forces people, what are you waiting for? Think of your past glorious military rulers and how good we had it under them, mostly.

Just make sure you present an educated front man.

It's high time that we whip this country into shape with discipline.

First order of business is:

1) to invalidate all existing federal contracts

2) set up a crack commando that will be based in Sambisa to flush out the small issue we have there

3) set up a military tribunal to investigate, arrest, prosecute ALL civil servants that has served the country in the past 20 years living or dead (if dead seize their properties)

4) Assure US and other 1st world countries that you intend to play ball (you do don't you?)

5) invite the Brits to set up an air force base in abuja

6) invite the chinese to set up a naval yard in port harcourt (they may decline due to ebola)

7) invite the US to set up a marine base in Ibadan

cool have all Nigerian ambassadors submit the names of ALL outstanding Nigerians (industry leaders) with great acumen in their service areas for immediate employment in nigeria

9) reach out to the youths, ask them what they want and work with them, set up programs to reduce unemployment

10) make a deal with the nation that if the average nigerian is not better off in 12 months then you will step down (and you will)

11) the budget is as follows health (30%), infrastructure development (30%), education (30%) keeping the lights on (10%) we all ahv ego tighten our budget.

12) search for and personally place an economic minister and ask him to immediately enforce a 50% levy on ALL importations except for medical equipments.

13) set up a tax ministry to collect taxes, those high net worthy guys needs to be curtailed

14) of any death that occurs the minister of health needs to explain to you personally why it happened and what to do to not reoccur.

15) recall all military personnel back to bases and they need passes to leave the base and must be dressed when they do

16) disband nigerian police force or reduce it, empower the states and cities to set up their own police forces, military will provide temporary protection

17) eradicate all other police outfits, we only have state police, city police, no yellow fever, no lastma, etc

18) terminate all NEPA employees (we don't have light anyways), rehire those that are ready to work effectively and provide solutions to have 24/7 electricity within 3 months to 70% of Nigerians

19) work with the judiciary, the high judges needs to be recognized and brought into the fold

20) work with the medical industry, more public hospitals, and any hospital that denies treatment to any nigerian will have their CEO charged with murder if the patient dies

21) set up roving patrol of state highway police again like we used to have, roadblocks only when necessary, free and clear interstate travel with no delays

22) bring back public execution. no more jungle justice (those caught will be tried in a military tribunal - we're under military rule now), convicted suspects will be shot at their city town center as before, in fact retry those on death row and kill all those guilty quickly to set precedence that you are not joking around.

23) to quote george bush (former potus) we'll make no distinction between the terrorists and those who harbor them. So any country that harbors fleeing suspects can consider their embassies closed with immediate effect, to recall all their citizens (as we cannot assure there safety - wink), and all their investments will be seized. So south africa, send back any of our looters that may run to you.

more to come

24) only one main central mosque in any city is allowed to use their loudspeaker

25) no church is allowed a loudspeaker

26) no more than one religious entity within a 5 mile radius within the city. minister of internal affairs will work with the various diocese to figure out who stays or goes, once decision is made any further grumblings will have the person arrested for a crime against the state

27) the minister of trade will work with minister of internal affairs and minister of justice to find a way to encourage 24/7 business openings in major city centers

28) go on the tv and speak directly to armed robbers, have a cache of ammunitions behind you, assured them that you personally have directed the police to shoot and kill any suspected armed robbers on sight or they will be found culpable

29) direct the minister of justice to set up a civilian right to carry concealed weapons

30) instruct the minister of finance to set up tax tribunals to investigate anyone that makes a large purchase that is not commensurate with their earnings

There are many options for you if you crave military rule. You can move to Lesotho, move to Syria or Afghanistan. You can even go and register to join Taliban or Boko Haram. tongue

ARES: Bad leadership prompts coup..... others I hope u are learning

Yes bad leadership prompts coup d'état and the earlier the young officers of the Nigerian Military seize power from our clueless fedora-hat wearing fisherman, the better.

Afterall, even Abacha's regime is better than all the democratic administrations we've had combined together. We can't continue taking 1 step forward & 10 steps backward. CBN's policy between Lamido Sanusi & Godwin Emefiele is a very good example.

Military regimes have performed better than civilian administrations in Nigeria.
Nigerian universities were better under military government with high standard of education.
There was law and order.
Even the public hospitals worked better.
And the Nigerian Airways functioned well.
The best Nigerian government so far was the military administration of Gen. Yakubu Gowon.
The most functional Nigerian company of world class corporate status, the Nigerian LNG Limited was started and built by a military government.
The only civilian government that has impressed me so far is the Lagos state government.

The worst cases of human rights abuses and unsolved political assassinations, kidnappings, armed robberies and terrorist attacks have occurred during the civilian government of the ruling party since 1999 to date.

I'm not surprised by this, a couple of months ago the S.An government released a statement saying that they noticed a lot of unusual Military activity in Lesotho and that they urge the Lesotho Army not to stage a Coup... S.A saw this coming a long time ago.

What matters most is to have a good government, whether civilian or military. In fact we can even have military democracy, A democratic military government with a democratically elected lawmakers, ministers and commissioners, but with military head of state and Commander-in- Chief of the Armed Forces and military state governors.

Majority of Nigerians are disappointed by the current civilian government with dysfunctional ministries and general insecurity.

Colonial era power play. I think their king asked the British Empire for protection from the South Africans and got it.
