That was not addressed to Nigeria but Africa. That is the truth you don't want to accept. It was still experimental drug and no enough available. It's clear other African countries requested for ZMAPP serum before Nigeria. If you don't know, that ZMAPP comes from two serums. One from Canada and the other from USA. Why blame USA for something that is limited and not enough to give in the first place?

Nigeria minister claimed to be in the process of consulting with CDC and never claimed he was rejected when there is no enough to give. The ground Zero hasn't gotten a ZMAPP yet blame nobody. Only arrogant Nigerians think their insolent nature must be attended to first. What a bunch of bollocks!

wtf is wrong with you?

I think he asked a credible question. Human (Infected) tests would have been the best way to go in a situation like this. Distributing forms for voluntarily consenting to being used as subjects in a research would have been the easiest way to choose willing participants among patients. It is safe to assume some will back out after being told the dangers involved in being test subjects. This would have provided forehand knowledge of the drugs efficacy on a larger amount of infected humans pending safety tests confirmation. Everyone knows the easiest way to get rich in America is via law suits. . . If the American govt wasn't worried about that when they used Zmapp on their infected citizens, why should they be, to use it on desperate Africans who were thought to have a slim 30% chance of survival, pre-Nigeria survival rate?

thegoodjoehunt3: WHO members already proved his logic was wrong. If it was his daughters infected, do you think President Obama would care about procedures?
Tough luck, we're not his kids... WHO had to hold an ethics committee meeting before the use of experimental drugs were approved.... That's why tkm, favivapir and gsk vaccine have been fast-tracked for trials...

Do you agree that releasing such unapproved experimental serum en masse by the West in such epidemic is a conspiracy theory fodder on its own?.. The laid down procedures must be followed, the best WHO has done is to fast-track a process that would have taken five or more years to a couple of months.

Totally agree with the emboldened. However if you notice, I stated that it should be volunteer based. Most would have signed up, some would opt out. A simpler approach would have seen Africans and the infected Caucasians getting the same serum/medication in different geographical locations.

So far, 3 caucasians and three Africans have been given the serum (stand to be corrected).. Two Africans and two caucasians survived.... Scarcity promotes priority. The less scarce and faster produced TKM-ebola, Favipiravir and gsk vaccine will all (hopefully) make significant impact in the containment and possibly cure of the virus

Yes, you have spoken like truly a primitive Nigerian. You have forgotten the Polio drug by Pfizer in Kano's case that resulted in a big law suit that almost led the pharmaceutical company into a big trouble in Nigeria. Many people even speculated that Pfizer was in a plan to sterilize Northerners. You think the world is made up of fools like you. Don't you?

Me, I am getting tired. Especially with the resumption of Primary and Secondary Schools. These drugs should have been in Africa by now and treatment started.

Let us hope they are on the way.

With the news of blood transfusion gaining momentum, I am starting to get worried someone is deliberately delaying this stuff from getting here. The proximity of both announcements is unsettling.Right now, I just feel like hoping alone isn't enough. . . . Prayer things necessary.

It is now three weeks since Nigerian government wanted to procure FAVIPIRAVIR from Japan. Till now there is no progress. The drug has been tested on humans and proven safe. Treatment against influenza is successful on humans and even found successful for Ebola treatment in animals. Same drug has been tested on humans for influenza. NOW WHAT IS STOPPING FOR USING IT IN TREATING EBOLA PATIENTS Nigeria should not stop from buying and give to Ebola patients. It is already tested on humans and proven harmless. PLEASE and PLEASE NIGERIA WAKE UP AND GET FAVIPIRAVIR. DO NOT BE INFLUENCED BY VESTED INTERESTS OF OTHER COUNTRIES. Just decide and use Favipiravir. IF YOU FAIL IN THIS IT WILL DELAY IN GETTING OTHER SOLUTIONS. Citizens will not forgive those in government if they fail in using FAVIPIRAVIR. Does anyone know why there no progress and no news on procurement and usage of FAVIPIRAVIR which has proven harmless on humans? Needless to say that while using this drug you need to follow standard procedure and systems. Further you should use it on very few patients.

Personally I think FAVIPIRAVIR is the most credible treatment now. . .Zmapp might have long term side effects.
Re: Nigeria To Receive Favipiravir Ebola Drug From Japan by jkranka123: 9:11am On Sep 21, 2014
Really do not understand people in government. Can't they understand this simple thing and involve some very good researchers and doctors and get some quantity of Favipiravir and start using it on those affected by Ebola and see the results. CAN NOT THE GOVERNMENT, BE IT FEDERAL OR STATE GOVERNMENT, THINK THIS MUCH HAVE A SMALLER TRIAL ON ITS OWN ON THIS OTHERWISE SAFE DRUG CALLED FAVIPIRAVIR.

NIGERIAN GOVERNMENTS STATE and FEDERAL PLEASE AND PLEASE ACT AND DO THE TRIAL OF SAFE DRUG FAVIPIRAVIR AND SEE IF THIS DRUG CURES EBOLA PATIENTS. It will be a great service to not only Nigeria but also other affected countries. This will also increase Nigeria 's stature in the region.

COME ON GOVERNMENTS OF NIGERIA YOU CAN DO IT? IT IS BETTER TO TRY AND SEE RESULTS THEN ALLOW PROBLEM TO ESCALATE.

Dear all, Happy read news that two ebola patients (one each in France & Germany) has been successfully treated with use of FAVIPIRAVIR. Now Governments of France and New Guinea have decided to try FAVIPIRAVIR on ebola patients. Thank god for giving this wisdom to some governments. I REQUEST ALL TO PRAY GOD FOR EARLY SUCCESS OF THIS AND OTHER DRUGS AND VACCINES. Request all people having influence in governments of affected countries to request them to start the trials in their country. After all the world is one and this outbreak ha proved it.
