Ekundayo7,... Haba..!!! this was an inside joke.. People always accusing macof of having several handles. I can guarantee you that I have no problem with you. Meanwhile, why are some ATR priests hot tempered..? I think I have to create another handle code name "ogogorobaba" |

Olokun worship historically was always concentrated on the shores of West Africa, as the Yoruba and related people shared her worship. Parts of Benin and Togo include Olokun worship, though oftentimes Olokun is viewed as a male irunmole there. @Ekundayo7, please take note that it is not Olokun seri Aje, but Olokun Seni Ade. Seri is akin to Seri, and we all know that Aje is Yoruba female icon of wealth. It is possible to confuse Aje with Ade and to be misled by this delicate misconceptions so that one will easily take Olokun as a woman when native adherents believe the same to be a man. https://www.farinadeolokun.com/olokun.html |

i think there's been enough debating and discussion on the gender of olokun. why dont you list the attributes of olokun, move further along. olokun is associated with wealth, beads, fertility and what else? |
Re: Olokun by tpia1: 1:27pm On Sep 22, 2014 |
what was your reason for opening the thread btw. |
Re: Olokun by Ekundayo7: 6:55am On Sep 23, 2014 |
2prexios: please take note that it is not Olokun seri Aje, but Olokun Seni Ade. Whether you believe Olokun to be male or female, I reiterate, is due to geography. You will find plenty of "natives" who worship Olokun as female, especially in Lagos and Ogun state. And whether you are referring to Olokun as Olokun Iserin Ade or seri Aje, the truth remains that Olokun is the Mother of Aje, her children. It makes no difference if one prefers male or female. All orisa are both male and female energy. |

[quote author=Ekundayo7] Whether you believe Olokun to be male or female, I reiterate, is due to geography. Note:Are you an unbiased specialist? You will find plenty of "natives" who worship Olokun as female, especially in Lagos and Ogun state. Note: Then you are not a specialist, you have your personal preference, but you want mine "caged" in your conclusion. And whether you are referring to Olokun as Olokun Iserin Ade or seri Aje, Note: Your clever mistake is a proof that you have no native-vocabulary on Olokun of your own. the truth remains that Olokun is the Mother of Aje, her children. Note:You have a wrong perception on what Aje is to Yoruba tradition. Think about this. It makes no difference if one prefers male or female. All orisa are both male and female energy. Note: It makes a lot of difference to you, hence you choose to hammer on it to foreclose collateral damage. |

Odu Ifa are quite clear on the matter of Olokun from Ogbe Ate, Ogbe Irete, Irosun Ogbe, Ose Owonrin, Ejiogbe, Oturupon Meji. It is very important to understand that there is always a deeper meaning to verses, and when speaking of orisa is doubly so. You can take an academic who has studied Ifa, who writes books, but he or she will miss the deeper meaning inside those verses, because they do not WORK inside the tradition, they are not priest with a destiny. You will even find some babalawo and iyanifa who are superior above others. It is natural. God gives to each one certain talents and insight. My curiousity is, hope you are not stuck to the farinade olokun's blog for the ultimate info on Olokun? His word-set premise is faulty and as such, it is literary-bankrupt. Its okay as a folk story but not good for historical citing. I am confuse that you don't see it as such. Please share 1 or 2 of the Odu Ifa with us, so we know the tradition you are sharing has Yoruba undertone. The reason is not far fetched, I am Yoruba, I don't want to buy a foreign-version of my history from a third-hand source in the name of deeper meaning verses. Here is the rule: Aigbofa laa woke, Ifa kan o si ni para. I am not affected by how philosophical an Ifa practitioner wax, what matter most is the words of the poetry. But if all we have is philosophy without sharing of Ifa verses, we are on personal enterprise. I am not troublesome, I just don't take it when we have to use subtle standards just to arrive at an answer. Let the answer be clear and simple. I know who I am dealing with, respect. |

Re: Olokun by 2prexios: 4:35pm On Sep 25, 2014 |
tpia1: ^ what's your favorite animated movie? no, its not like that, but if we have not reach conclusive end, we have to keep trying...Well I don't want to be misunderstood, I do come down immediately I err and apologize, but on having to swallow what you see as erroneous, I can't hide my feelings. Alright, I have overdone it already I think. I give up. Thanks tpia for calling me to order, I appreciate. |
Re: Olokun by tpia1: 4:52pm On Sep 25, 2014 |

Re: Olokun by 2prexios: 7:09pm On Sep 25, 2014 |
tpia1: sorry, my question was offtopic but nevertheless, can you still answer it. In actual sense, I don't watch tv so much. But I love to watch action films anyway. Thats how i relax o. My list is so lean: Alias, Nikita, and the epic Legend of the seeker. But going way back to childhood, all I can remember is Frago rock, voltrun, superted, then bug life. I never watched lion king. I love Yoruba movie, especially the advert part of it, true. |
Re: Olokun by tpia1: 11:52pm On Sep 25, 2014 |

itstpia1: I did not comment because the film is hard to come by, I give up. I can't stream it online for my impatience. But I have had its plot online. I wont mind a recap. At least I might refuel for the new dawn on the horizon. We can't ever exhaust the pack of tricks. |

2prexios: haba, why are you folks such inexperienced liars? una dey snag women with these weak tales? |
Re: Olokun by 2prexios: 8:57pm On Nov 01, 2014 |
tpia6:I know very well that lie is the way to go with women, but I dont tell lies because I can't beg for too long or stand the shame if caught. Truth is weakness, short temper cannot inhabit the same soul with lies, it is short cut to destruction. I'm telling the truth. |
Re: Olokun by tpia6: 9:02pm On Nov 01, 2014 |
^ bro, stop making destruction a part of your normal lexicon or else it will stay with you. someone will greet you, you reply lukuluku lo ma pa e, someone says hi, you reply aye e lo ma baje, someone says ladi i love you, your response is may ebola carry you. and you say you are better than somebody with short temper? How? anyway, i assume your attitude is due to your experiences in life which you are yet to receive healing for. just theorizing here. |
Re: Olokun by 2prexios: 9:27pm On Nov 01, 2014 |
tpia6:Oh no. You miss the point. I am saying that I am short tempered and can't be a lier as a result. I like being open minded to a great extent. I would be careful with destructive words, thanks. |
Re: Olokun by tpia6: 9:38pm On Nov 01, 2014 |
