Is Eating Out Cheaper Than Cooking At Home? by kolamilan(m): 2:08am On Sep 06, 2014 |
When it comes to choosing between Mom’s homemade vegetable soup and the one we often get at restaurants, it would be a foregone conclusion that most of us would gladly settle for the first one. But with many eateries especially fast-food places, coming up with value meals and discounts, and given the rapidly rising cost of common groceries, it could actually be cheaper to head out to nearest mama put or any food joint, rather than prepare a meal in your own kitchen. So which one is cheaper ? |

Cost is nothing when compared to the quality and quantity you gain from cooking and eating at home. These eateries but food stuff in large quantities and store over a period of time. During this period, most (especially) perishables lose their nutrients and to most extent their taste. Mama put foods contain chemical additives found in some seasoning cubes harmful to your body and to make matter worse, you don't know which was used so you can't avoid what is not good to your body. 23 Likes |

I cook for one...and use my freezer to divide larger packages of meat and unused portions of broths, tomato paste, etc. Cooking at home is better in all respects...much healthier in that you can control what goes into it and control the portions. 4 Likes |

Think about the time spent in grocery shopping and preparing the food at minimum wage and things start to become more even. Also, We do waste alot of food when cooking at home. 3 Likes |

If I had my way, I would not dare eat outside!!! The thought of sharing SPOONS and plates with some random fellow outside especially when those utensils are not properly washed, mhen..Hepatitis is real! The tummy bug & the frequent toilet visits you get when you eat the wrong concoction In the long run, cooking at home is the BEST hygienewise, healthwise and of course Costwise! 4 Likes |

Of course, it's way cheaper to make your food at home than buying from outside,in my house, we as a family of five years can feed comfortably on a meal I prepare with about #2500/3000 naira for the whole day, oliver twists in the family will even have more if they want but try going to a fast food, you'd get a meal for about 1200 naira, only you ooo ,food with colouring, different types of season, and it may not be fresh,so it will be microwaved to make it look steamy and hot or if na for shitta where amala booms,a wrap of amala is #50 while, beef is #100 and goat meat is #300,you're not even sure of the hygiene status of the food sef 1 Like |

Sometimes it is,depends on how often you eat and how may people are eating...when I was in school I can eat once in two days, so it was cheaper for me... When I hustle- cook, I have to invite my boyfriends to eat, if they don't come it ends up wasting...so it was cheaper for me to eat out once in two days...but now I can't try it. @paroman...me missed ya - in a legit way. |
