Mondisweets: Honestly if you are in law school I will suggest you change profession,I don't see you winning any cases lai lai We just read the definition of self defense in black and white and you are still arguing from emotions The law doesn't consider emotions It works by a strict set of statutes and I believe it should be simply enough for anyone You read that and you still don't understand it? I don't know what else to say to you If you walked up and slapped or punched me and I picked up a stick or bottle or bottle of acid or pulled out a gun and shot you because I feared further attack from you,I am defending myself. We just watched the case of Trevon Martin tried before us and the killer is walking free as we speak |

shymexx: this guy is not losing millions because she eventually got married to him (she clearly is stupid for doing so) but knocking her out and dragging her out of the elevator while she is unconscious. Stop involving sentiments. 1.) He could have shown some form of remorse after she passed out but he didn't that clearly proves an intent to cause serious harm, dragging her out of the elevator just made it worse. 2.) He knew that if he acts contrary to his contract (committing a criminal offence) there will be consequences. Why act outside the law and expect the law you broke to protect you? 3.) The Ravens have to protect their good name, they cannot diminish their reputation all in the name of giving one random player, who like you said probably has 3 or 4yrs left, a second chance. 4.) if his millions meant so much to him he should have thought out his actions. He had several other options that a reasonable person in his shoes could have taken with exceeding the limits of merely defending himself, apart from knocking out a person and dragging her unconsciously. If he had done the same thing to another man trust me he was still going to face the same consequences. 2 Likes |

Self defence in action RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) - The Rankin County District Attorney says it's a classic case of the Castle Doctrine at work. A man, originally charged with murder, has been freed after a Rankin County grand jury failed to indict him last Friday. Richard Lewis, 52, admitted he shot 46-year-old Christopher Eugene Hankins to death. Lewis told investigators last February his former roommate broke down the door trying to get in his dwelling in the 1400 block of Old Lake Road. When Judge Kent McDaniel heard the facts in the case, he reduced the charge from murder to manslaughter. But Lewis was freed last Friday when a Rankin County grand jury bought his argument that he acted in self-defense, and failed to indict him. "The Castle Doctrine says there is no duty to leave, so he didn't have to leave the house, and also in a case like this one, the individual who is shot is the one who made illegal entry, into a residence, which we clearly have in this case, if the fear of great bodily harm is presumed to be reasonable," said Rankin County District Attorney Michael Guest. Guest also explained that you must be in danger of bodily harm or protecting someone from bodily harm to invoke the Castle Doctrine. "The individual using deadly force must be in fear of imminent danger, to his or herself, or someone who is present. Deadly forced cannot be used just to defend property. If someone is just stealing something, you can't use deadly force," said Guest. Copyright 2012 WLBT. All rights reserved. |

coogar: Anyway, I think the NFLPA should be able to fight for him discreetly (not in public because of these rampaging feminists who control public opinions these day), to get a deal that would re-instate him back. But might have to sit out this year, and lose $4 million for a fatal left hook. Drag like a sack of rice by Ray Rice - that right is a name that matches an action. But I don't think he wanted to drag her, he obviously couldn't lift her up - and that's quite telling from the way he staggered after trying to lift her the first time. Ol'girl looks like a heavy size-12 looking lady, with a heavy load on her backside. Hollywood is hiring - the shorter version of The Rock. I think he's just 5'8/5'9 - not the tallest guy out there. |

i wonder what her family thinks of the video. they would be making a call to ask why she kept it quiet. at the same time, she might not have remembered this incident even took place at all. |

Mondisweets: This is now turning into a circular argument on your part. 1). He did apologise after the incident, and did a press conference, with the same lady by his side. She stood by her man. 2). He's human and when it comes to certain incidents involving a subconscious reaction that happens within milliseconds - consequences are the last thing on your mind. The crux of the matter is that: he isn't a serial abuser, and he was attacked before he retaliated. Yes, it's cowardly and unacceptable to hit a woman - however, cases have to be judged based in the context in which they happened. This is an isolated case, and the severity of the punishment meted out to him is unacceptable. 3). What good name doesn't a profit-oriented have to protect, apart from not pissing off the women in its fan-base? Isn't that the same team, that Ray Lewis, an accused murderer played - and also a team with a few convicted felons? Moreover, 3-4 years is a very long time, in terms of earning wages to secure your future, in the NFL. And you can't just deny him that just because of an isolated case. If he had done the same to another guy, everyone would've saluted him for knocking the attacker's punk ar.se out. You can't hit someone first, and expect the person to walk-away. The guy isn't just some weirdo/mangina from the suburbs...he's a thorough-bred. 1 Like |

coogar: I believe she was intoxicated before the incident. But regardless, that was one hell of a left hook - it looks Mayweather-eqsue especially the one that dropped Ricky Hatton in 2007. I actually feel sorry for her, but she should have known better. He still has 3-4 more productive years left in him, based on the lifespan of RBs in the NFL. And save for last season that he performed woefully, he's definitely one of the top-10 RBs in the NFL. A lot of convicted felons have been given a second chance in NFL, and the onus is now on the NFLPA to cut a deal with NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, to get him back in the league. Perhaps, before mid-season. A few teams should need his services. They can't just destroy his life like that...the guy is a good guy. Honestly, I hate when women get battered by men. But sometimes, when it's a provoked incident, you just can't defend that. Men are also victims of domestic violence, and tons of people's lives have been missed up because of women. These days, you can just get in a verbal argument with a chic - and she makes a phonecall to the feds telling them all kinds of lies. And next thing you know, feds are in your house arresting you with cuffs, for domestic violence without any evidence whatsoever. With that on the rise, with laws being more favourable to women, it's impossible to defend these folks. 1 Like |

it seems you follow NFL like crazy - i can't stand the game - it's meaningless so i never paid attention to the players.
she hit him first so she deserved the consequence of her actions. he was also stüpid for letting things degenerate to that level - even more stüpid for hitting a woman in an elevator in the full glare of a camera. i hope he's saved enough for the rainy days. his chances of getting back into professional football is slimmer than the skin of my teeth. he should start considering a change - acting, circus shows, dee-jaying or battlerap. 2 Likes |

shymexx:Pacta sunt Servanda- a contracting party is bound to a contract he willing enters into. if one of the reasons of termination or suspension in that sports contract is "commiting a criminal offence" then u have to honour that contract by making sure u dont commit any criminal offence. Ravens is not concerned with whether he apologised or he was forgiven. Fact remains, he committed a breach of contract by committing a criminal offence and for that reason he suffered the consequences. Shymex i understand where you are coming from, but the Ravens cannot swipe it under the mat especially when the incident has gone this viral. If they did not take action they would have committed a breach of contract too. If u ever own a sports team in the future trust me the first thing u will do is protect your interests over those of someone who willingly goes around contravening the law and the terms of a contract he signed to. 1 Like |

I once heard someone say: "if you beat a woman your a beast, also if you stand and allow a woman slap and beat you, then your a fool and if eventually you choose to runaway from such situation, then your a coward". Not saying am an advocate of hitting women but some women just don't know when to stop nagging. Usually guys that are naturally hot-tempered would simply react by hitting the babe. Maybe mr nfl is a temperamental dude. |

I believe the termination of his contract with the Ravens had more to do public opinions, especially in today's western world, where feminist/PETA/LGBT groups have hijacked everything with moaning, and playing the blame game. And trust me, when these folks come at you, you can't win against them. There are tons of players with worse criminal offences, and all they ever get is suspension. It seems you're not a NFL head, and you've not been following this whole incident, from the get-go. When it first happened, the Ravens backed him, and he did a press conference with the victim, by his side. And the league suspended him for two games. However, there was outcry from women right groups and press, hence the hasty reaction, when the video came out. In a just world, they should've let the sleeping dog lie, and let the guy move on with his life. He made a terrible mistake, apologised, and got suspended for two games - time to move on. But trust folks to always try to destroy people over mistakes that make us all human. He's human, not a a robot. If I were to own a sports team in America (not the UK because women can cry all they want out here, no one is terminating any damn contract - the highest they'll do is trade him) - I definitely won't be swayed by MSM and feminist opinions - they're inconsequential and they can all go fvck themselves with a garden fork, for all I care. |

coogar: Don't ever underestimate the damage the left-hook can cause. Ricky Hatton took one from Mayweather, and he went to sleep. Coupled with the fact that this guy is a RBs, the most brutal position in the NFL - and you've to be extremely strong, to be able to play that position. Hence they always have the shortest career-span in the NFL, due to all kinds of hits. Yes, NFL is like my second most favourite sport...after football. Then Basketball and Tennis. It's an interesting sport, and sometimes, I'd rather watch NFL than watch certain/a-lot-of football teams. Lmao @ dee-jayin' and battle rap. I think he has a degree...so he should be able to hit the job market, if he isn't re-instated. However, that will be difficult for someone who's used to the millionaire lifestyle and celebrity status. Definitely one of the toughest transition to make. He might have to travel to Africa for the motherland cleansing, like Dave Chapelle, and start all over again. With the same chic taking to her heels, when the status is gone lol. |

Just saw this on ESPN: Ray Rice's wife defends him ^^^I absolutely love this woman -she's standing by her man, and won't let the media and feminists destroy him. That's a real woman right there. One that's ready to accept her mistake, and forgive her man for his mistake. The quintessential black woman, and what a real woman should be. 3 Likes |

He knew from the day he signed his contract the consequences for breach of a contract. Keep blaming feminists for all u like, that will not stopped him from being boot out. Show us the feminists that made him breach his contract or simply stop spilling your arguments that are simply based on your emotions and logic all over your thread. 2 Likes |

i don't understand jack - i just see grown men wearing what seems like long-johns grabbing each other's bütts and running around. the game makes no sense to me.
this one seems to be a stayer - she's staying strong for him, she's asked america not to watch the video....and she released this statement..... "I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I'm mourning the death of my closest friend.....But to have to accept the fact that it's reality is a nightmare in itself. No one knows the pain that the media & unwanted options from the public has caused my family. To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his aśs off for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific. THIS IS OUR LIFE! What don't you all get. If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you've succeeded on so many levels.
