Africa Rising, The West Hating: Top 3 Media Enemies of Nigeria’s Progress

With reference to all the recent and past events in Nigeria and the media representation of it thereof, TV Afrique Research Team is delighted to bring to you a well researched topic; The top three media agencies that are working gravely against Nigeria's progress. it has not only become a tradition for these government controlled media agencies to bring Nigeria down but are now competing aggressively against each other to see who does it better.

Without further ado, lets start off the review with the overall winner.

Media Enemy Number One (Overall Winner): BBC

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is a UK based international public service broadcaster headquartered in London. It is the world's oldest national broadcasting organisation[2] and the largest broadcaster in the world by number of employees, with about 23,000 staff.

BBC has always been the first media outfit to report any catastrophic event (e.g. plane crashes, disease outbreaks, system failures, e.t.c), corrupt practices and Nigerian Army defeat by insurgents.
Whenever there is a plane crash in Nigeria, BBC will not only report on the plane crash but will start showing the history of plane crashes and statistics of the deaths by air disasters in Nigeria since 1980s.

Going the Extra Mile to show Nigeria on the negative even if the budget is sky rocket and the mission is dangerous

BBC is ready to spend any amount that will be needed to send in their brainwashed media crew to stay in top hotels in beautiful Nigerian cities while making it a regular routine to wake up in the morning and drive hundreds of kilometres out of the metropolis to film in impoverished neighbourhoods, refuse dumps and abandoned places.

The media crew is well paid which act as an incentive to encourage them in doing their jobs even if it meant going to Maiduguri to accomplish their mission.

In 2010, BBC sponsored four of their top media crew on an all expense paid four months filming trip to go round the dirtiest places in Lagos, Nigeria to show to the world that Lagos is still far from being developed thereby warding off potential foreign investors from Nigeria.
>> The outcome of the four months expensive trip to Nigeria was the production of the worst ever documentary about Nigeria titled "Welcome to Lagos", a three part documentary series aired on BBC 2 in April 2014, video clips of which were also uploaded on the internet and are still there up till now even amid bitter complains by Nigerians.

Intentional Black out on Positive Developments in Nigeria and Africa

As part of a research, we conducted a search on one of the biggest positive developments in Nigeria which is construction of the Eko Atlantic City in Lagos, Nigeria. As of 12th September 2014, a search on BBC website with the query "Eko Atlantic City" returned the result: "Sorry, there are no results for eko atlantic city" While a search with the query string "Lagos" returned results showing a church building that collapsed same day in Lagos. (see images below).

We will complete the remaining part of this report soon. In the mean time, feel free to voice out your opinions, share this page ( http://www.tvafrique.com/?p=192 )and educate others on the damages being done to us by enemies pretending to be friends.

Your opinions matter, please visit http://www.tvafrique.com/?p=192 to comment share and bookmark. Together we can make Africa greater!.

My problem with our leaders is how they keep quiet in the face of such negative media blitz.
Let's make it a law that those that project our disintegration and say negative stuffs about us should suffer a diplomatic hiatus in our r/ship with them.

........If you are really better.

The truth is bitter so our elders say.

So far BBC has not reported what is not true, let them be.

What is even with this new trend of tagging an entity an enemy just because of criticism? Don't u know that criticism always spurn the resolve to become better and thereby shame the critics?

Instead of going about singing that BBC 'rubbishes' Nigeria, try and make your country a better place!

Your write-up seems very cunny to me and I'm still trying to place it's purpose.

You definitely have some half truths there, that u cunningly build your write-up around in order to create sentiments in d readers to dislike the BBC.

You searched for Eko Atlantic city that is still undergoing construction, and because it gave u no return on BBC site, u concluded that is biased reportage.

You claimed u searched for Lagos, and news about a collapsed church building came up. The BBC site u went is not a tourist site, it's a news channel! And media outfits all over the world give bad news a lot of attention.

Here is a report on Eko Atlantic city by BBC for u (I hope u can see how balanced it is, with both the nice and 'not too nice', aerial photo shot of Lagos in the report). http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8473001.stm

The slum picture u put there, was from that 3 series documentary on Lagos. If one watches that documentary, definitely one will get angry with BBC why they focused only on d slums in Lagos and didn't do documentary on d creme places....but those kind of places abound in Lagos!

That documentary in the places they covered is the plain truth. I know those places.

But i'm suspecting you cunningly tagged those pictures yourself. Pls show us a screenshot of BBC website that u saw where the picture was tagged 'Lagos urban areas' cos I have been searching for it on their site without success.

Let our Govt respond and devote their energy into improving the standards of living of those terrible places.

The BBC is even doing a favour for us if u don't know. We always unfortunately have insensitive Govt in Nigeria that only acts when issues have being blown open by media.

For example, look at that terrible state of that Police training college Ikeja, assuming Channels TV did not throw it open, nothing will be done. If it was BBC that covered it then, it is still this same way u will be screaming that they are biased.

In this our country, the state of convenience facilities in public offices and public schools are terrible!

If BBC comes to cover that now and show to the world how insensitive people leading us are...i'm sure you'll be claiming they hate you.

Please look inwards first.

A lot of things are not right here, and people leading us at all spheres don't give a damn until it becomes a public issue.

Please leave BBC, let them continue to show the rot in the system, instead of putting the heat on BBC, put the heat on your leaders to make amends!
