Police In Agbor Obi, Ika South Lga Seized 945 Million Naira Destined To......... by ritababe(f): 8:01am On Sep 22, 2014
Delta police officials have seized a record 945 million Naira of cash concealed in private car and ambulances that they say was destined to buy off PDP delegates and pay for expenses over and above the spending limit. The police investigation team said the driver of the car has fingered a retired permanent secretary in the area .

In Delta state where power have been dogged by corruption scandals and a sharp economic slowdown.

Meanwhile, Today in Agbor, leading governorship aspirant and the governor's favorite, Mr Tony Obuh hosted friends to a thanksgiving service and ceremony for his retirement from the civil service.
But that he hosted the party is not the news. According information going round across the state has it that the governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan had bankrolled the ceremony to the tune of N100million naira.

Despite the dramatic political change it could bring, the 2014 primaries election would appear to be the same grubby game of cash-for-votes that has marred previous ballots only this time on a far bigger scale.
Cash seized in the three weeks since the staggered primaries election was announced has already surpassed the last election in the state, the police said.
Voting in this year's primaries election starts on Nov 29th.
More than 10 million liters of imported liquor have been seized, too, over the past 20 days as politicians pour resources into an election that will cost an estimated 50 billion Naira by the time it ends.
"The seizures that we have made of cash and liquor are far bigger than we had anticipated. The scale of the problem is immense, an INEC official who leads the expenditure monitoring effort at the independent Election Commission, said
"A couple of elections ago it was not such a game of money," INEC said. "Now you have business people in politics, whereas earlier they were involved in managing their empires."

State funding has been mooted in the past to stop illicit spending, but the idea has never taken off.
