WHERE DID WE GO WRONG?
WAKE UP NIGERIAN YOUTHS

Awolowo was (37), Akintola (36), Ahmadu Bello (36) Balewa (34) and Okotie-Eboh (27), Enahoro (27) led the struggle for independence after the death of Macaulay. Only Zik was 42 at the time.

In 1966, the first coup was led by: Kaduna Nzeogwu (29) and countered by Murtala
Mohammed (28), Theophilus Danjuma (28), Babangida (25), Nanven Garba (23), Sani
Abacha (23), Shehu Musa Yaradua (23), and brought into power Gowon (32), Ojukwu (33), Obasanjo (29), Buhari (24).

Most of the military administrators who governed the states under the successive military regimes, most of whom are governors now, were under 30 years.

The brief democratic dispensation which interjected the military interregnums also saw
the House of Representatives in particular populated by majority of members under 30 years as well as some senators. Under 30s were also not in short supply with appointments, we have examples of MT Mbu
who became foreign affairs minister at 23 and Pat Utomi who became a presidential
adviser at 27 and so on and so forth.

NOW:
Why is it that this age bracket is today still sleeping in 3 seater chairs in their parents’
homes?

Why is it that this age bracket is today still collecting pocket money from their parents?

Why is it that this age bracket is today still writing JAMB?

Why is it that this age bracket is today still sagging their trousers?

Why is it that this age bracket is today still searching for jobs, not yet married?

Why is it that this age bracket is today no longer qualified to even be leaders of youth
wings of political parties?

Why is it that this age bracket is today still incapable of feeding itself?

Why is it that this age bracket is today barred by law from even aspiring to certain political offices?

Why is it that this age bracket is today incapacitated, unwilling, unable and incapable of asking questions?

GOD BLESS NIGERIA

You truly understand the problem of Nigeria.

When a man like buhari (71) and Atiku(69) what power desperately, A man like Tinubu (62 yrs and he is actually way older because his real name yekini is 69) are still holding this country. When likes of Obasanjo another APC member and Annieh pdp are still in control of this nation then there is a problem with the youths. These people are unwilling to leave space for the next generation

Youths that have been paid to lies to other gullible youths likes themselves.

These same men you mentioned are not willing to let go of the power...They wont allow the youths to rule...They believe they are entitled to it...They believe they have enough experience...

When will they allow us 'youths' to rule??...When will they let go of the power??...In their graves??..

They say we are the leaders of tomorrow...Yet, we are still following...

It is not about making the same noise, youth this youth that every time all year round. The issue now is that what is the way forward? What role is opened for the youths with bright ideas in political parties especially the major parties? If none, what move should be made? Who will be the promoters? What about the financing? It is a very complicated issue and will need strategic planning and funds for the youths to take charge.

PS: how do you curb implants and saboteurs?

You can't expect the "old order" to just step down for the new order(youths) without the youths making any move. It is not about mass protest(which will NEVER yield positive result) but about political revolution.

Our education system has really let us down which is why most of our youths are here on nairaland posting trash on a daily basis.

Tallesty1: Temi Good Morning.

If the men do not want to let go of the power then someone should take it by force.

Good morning, sir...

How do we take it by force??....Plan another coup??....Most of us 'youths' who are opportuned to be at a high post....We make these men our god-father.....How are they going to oppose whatever they command them??...They have no choice to do what they want...the likes of Bukola Saraki and Gov. Fatai of Kwara state...

Then, how do we go about it??...Even with the so called 'political revolution'...Do you think these men will be willing to let go??....My dear, this Naija....You have forgotten that most of our leaders use diabolical ways to reach that post...

If the men do not want to let go of the power then someone should take it by force. We are just unserious, you don't expect these men to say "We are tired let someone else try" someone needs to take it from them by force and I think the youths are in the right position to do it.

I was in kogi state last week, Olamaboro local government precisely, the friend I visited told me that they haven't had light since Easter last year but when the governor came to commission one hospital like the men and youths of that community came out in full to welcoming him because of the money he shares on occasions like that. That's crazy. I don't know much about politics anyways but I'm certain that we are the cause of our problem.

The best we can do is complain. Things are getting worse by day and our youths are online, updating and sharing instead tackling the issue.

It is rather disheartening that our youthful populace on their own part have refused to take charge(not violently per se) but by becoming more active in public affairs, we rather spend more time trying to move along with the mundane lines of music and other spheres of entertainment rather than be the tools for change in the society we choose to criticize.

How many youths have made efforts to rule? How many youths are actively pursuing rulership aspirations in political parties? How many youths are brave enough to be the contestants rather than the tools used in elections? How many youths will be ready to sacrifice their energy and resources into vying for a climb up the ladder of political competition with no guarantee of success be it monetary or otherwise in favour os been tools used for election propaganda or rigging and make instant 'quick cash' as you guys call it in local parlance?

OP, you forgot to add, licking of these old politicians' butts for some naira. It is presently the most annoying thing for me. You hear BS like 'GEJ till 2029'.

Most of our youths have become clowns joking with their future.

There are lots of youths out there willing and struggling to climb the ladder....There are lots of youths who aspire and wish everyday to acquire that same post....Yeah, we also know that there are lots of useless youths who sacrificed themselves to be used as thugs.....

We need to ask ourselves this question...How about the few ones who are willing to climb the ladder, do they allow them??...do we give them the support they needed??...Do you think people will vote for them??...

True. I am a youth, and I really see my self in such situation(politics) even before finishing from school. A lot of things are wrong in this country, not because our leaders are corrupt, but for the non involvement of youth in politics.
