 Ahead of the 2015 general elections, veteran Nollywood Actor, Kenneth Okonkwo has joined the league of other entertainers currently eyeing various political offices. The star Actor is seeking to represent Nsukka/Igboeze South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He made his intention known during a media parley on Wednesday. Okonkwo is a graduate of Business Administration from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in Enugu State and also Masters degree holder in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, Akoka. The Nollywood pioneer rose to stardom as an actor in 1991 when he featured in the movie, Living in Bondage. Kenneth, with his declaration, has joined other entertainers who had earlier declared to run for different offices in their respective states. Musicians turn politicians.Actor/Actreess turn politicians.They like public funds. That is all they think about all time. Every Nigeria Celeb thinks it is about been popular that makes you win election, They forgot you need to build it from the grassroots. Very soon Comedians will turn politician too.. Why are people complaining about our celebrites and entertainers joining politics? Are they not Nigerians? What makes a Nasir El- Rufai, Dino Melaye, Ayo Fayose, Muhd Buhari, Atiku Abubakar, Goodluck Jonathan etc qualified for national office anda Kenneth Okonkwo, Kate Henshaw, Desmond Elliot, Julius Agwu etc not qualified? Does their being entertainers make them less intelligent than others? We are too quick to forget that Arnold Schawazaneggar contested and won election into the office of governor of California in the US, Manny Pacquaio also contested election into the parliament of the Phillipines, Vladimir Klitscko did same in Ukraine, why do we see it as strange here? Some of these guys are much more informed, intelligent and exposed than those thieves running around at the various govt houses and chambers of parliament in Nigeria. Why all of them dey join politics na. There was a time all of them join music and each of them started releasing one whack track to another. From JIm Iyke, to Genieve, to Omotola, to Desmond Elliot down to Nkem Owoh, to Mr. Ibu to Tonto Dikeh, to mention a few. Now na politics be the next thing. What are they looking for ?
