Happy new month and happy independence day celebration to all Nigerians..It is 54 years now,when the Britons handed over our country,Nigeria to a group of patriotic,energic and zealous Nigerians..the likes of the premier of the Northern region-sir Ahmadu Bello the sadauna of Sokoto,Chief Obafemi Awolowo,Sir Tafawa Balewa(the golden voice of Africa) and Dr.Nnamdi Azikiwe and a host of others..
The whole world thought that Nigeria will become the giant of Africa and also become a world power because of the manpower and natural resources at its disposal.A country that boasts of a population of over 170 million people,much is expected from us..
The return to civil rule after a millitary junta that oppressed the masses came at a time when it is highly anticipated and most needful..A big kudos goes to Rtd Gen,Olusegun Obasanjo who i will refer to here as the father of democracy in Nigeria for his tremendous achievement during his stinct in office...
What is Democracy...
Abraham Lincoln defined it as government of the people,by the people and for the people...But for us in Nigeria,is our government a representative oneIs it a true reflection of the vote cast by the people??...what about electoral fraudsterswhat about emblezzlement of our monies in government cauffers by our so called representativeswhat about our educational sector breakdownwhat about poor assess to medicine and medical facilitieswhat about incessant industrial strikeswhat about insecurity...Are all these things the benefits and dividends of Democracy....NO,NO,NO...All I See,Hear,Feel,Breathe,Talk is KLEPTOCRACY-government of thieves,for thieves and by thieves...It is in the offices,schools,churches,mosques,sports centres,social centres,motor parks..IT IS EVEN INSIDE YOU-make i reach there first(MIRTF) is a common acroynm amongst us.
When will Nigeria practice a pungnant and pragmatic democracy where all its citizenry will experience the true dividend of democracy....What are the ways forward..
If we cannot fly,we must run.if we cannot run,we must walk.if we cannot walk,we must crawl..we must keep moving...
Should we still be crawling at 54 as Super chickens and not Soaring high like Super Eagles...
