As insignificant as communication sounds, it goes a long way in saving relationships. Most men think communicating everything about themselves to their partner is a sign of weakness. Where on earth did that come from? What gives them the impression that complaining about a headache to their wife makes them a weak man?
One thing most men don’t know is that women tend to trust men who deem it fit to tell them every little detail about themselves. Details like when something goes wrong, when that deal is about to click, when you get scared that things are about to fall apart, when that colleague of yours is all out to get you to their bed, just name it. Without talking to your partner, how do you expect them to understand or help you? Some women are also guilty of this so I am not talking to the men alone. If you are a woman and you do it too, then this article is also meant for you.
Communicating with your partner makes your relationship grow both in love and in understanding. Nothing is too insignificant to talk about. No matter how silly it may sound to you, just say it. That way you create a bond with your partner and as time goes on, you won’t need to say them anymore before she understands. Don’t tell her you are fine when there is worry written all over your face. Don’t tell her since she can’t help, then there’s no need to discuss it with her. Those words will only push her away and that doesn’t solve your problems. Talking to her makes her feel like a very important part of your life and this makes her happy. Even if she can’t solve the problem, at least give her a chance to be there to comfort you.
I’ve seen movies and heard stories of how relationships fall apart because the people involved don’t create time to talk about things happening around them. A very typical example is the case of a couple who claimed to be too busy with work and all of a sudden noticed an unexplainable distance between them. They concluded that the marriage was no longer working and decided to file for a divorce. After much persuasion from family and friends to at least see a marriage counsellor before getting divorced, they decided to give it a shot just to please them. During one of their sessions, the marriage counsellor asked them what really went wrong and to their surprise, they couldn’t get hold of something strong enough that brought about the issue of divorce. The counsellor noticed that it was just an issue of lack of communication and made them come around for one hour every day. During the session, he excuses himself and leave them alone to have time to talk. After sometime, they felt that closeness again and promised to always have time to talk to each other. That was how their marriage was restored.
So you see, just one hour of communicating with your partner everyday could help save your marriage/relationship. So if you find yourself guilty of this offence, work towards it now. Create that time today and you’ll be amazed to realize that there are a whole lot of wonderful things you have not noticed about your partner. It could be that problem solving skill she’s got or that listening ear she’s always ready to offer. A stitch in time they say saves nine.
