Money is really important these days, nobody wants to help you when you are in financial distress. So, the best you can do for yourself is to work hard and make money ahead of when you will need it.

Popular dancer Kemi Omotoyinbo who got married on 13th September, 2014, at White House Event Hall, Toyin Street, Ikeja has passed on. Kemi who is a popular face in Pasuma’s music videos and has also danced for the likes of Shina Peters and K1 gave up the ghost while trying to give birth on October 1, 2014, at a private hospital in Lagos.

Her friends say Kemi would have survived the operation the doctors meant to carry out on her, since she couldn’t give birth the normal way, if only they had operated on her on time. According to them, the doctors charged N450,000 for the operation but demanded an initial deposit of N300,000 which her husband couldn’t provide instantly, and that was where the problem started.

Most Nigerian medical personnels seem like trained killer. Money seems to come first before lives that are supposedly sworn to save.

However, all the money they wasted on the useless oyinbo follow follow wedding just to belong to a distorted reality crowd could have easily bought her life.

Nigerian doctors and money...if they are not on strike, they are demanding exessively from people...her husband probably had the money but wasn't expecting her to give birth through operation there didn't have his cheque or cash ready and these bastaard Nigerian Doctors wouldn't even use their conscience...

Tomorrow they go on strike again demanding better pay, useless people.

Their mates abroad are coming up with invetions or battling everyday for cure to disease, but Nigerian doctors are all about money money money.

Olodos.

May Her Soul Rest In Peace... Amen

It could have happened during the weekend. You can't withdraw that cash from an ATM.
I believe they lacked 'real' friends and were victims of a mean and selfish doctor/ hospital.

People blaming the doctor may be wrong...the doc may just be a mere employee and carrying out the order of the owner, NO pay NO surgery which is wrong....life should be safe at all cost before money....
They lack good friends also though people looking at her may think she worth far more than that.... Nigerians like living fake flamboyant life.

R.I.P to her.

STFU. Why should they? Can't your government afford/provide free health care services?...

May her soul rest in peace. This is so nauseating. This country is terrible! People are just dying anyhow. More painful is the death arising from economic hardship.

But guys, before blaming the doctors, try and look at it from another side.

I'm definitely not justifying allowing someone to die because of lack of pay, but Nigerians are the most difficult set of people to deal with when money is involved.

Some of these actions are usually based on precedence. I have personally witnessed a patient who was attended to on credit..but still did not pay afterwards. The hospital did not discharge her, they insisted that the family should settle the bills first. This patient planned a very detailed escape, as if she was escaping from Kirikiri and took off, without settling the medical bills.

Just imagine, if a hospital has witnessed like 5 of such cases in a month. The hospital will definitely become harsh and hardened.

The major issue we tend not too see is THE HARSH ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT IN NIGERIA.

The private hospital business needs to survive.

They need to pay staff.

They need to pay exorbitant Lagos rent (for those in Lag).

They need to buy diesel and run their
generators.

They need to buy expensive medical gadgets and employ quality hands.

It is very difficult to do any of the above on credit and that is why they too have become hardened.

Some of these hospitals are also owing staff salaries.

Someone who has worked in that Ebola-made-popular First Atlantic Hospital, Obalende said they sometimes owe employees up to 4 months salary. Now that Ebola has even tainted the hospital and their customers have dropped drastically, only God knows how that hospital will survive. Such a hospital in economic turmoil will insist u pay first!

The major point is just that we live in a country that does not value human lives.

The hospitals are afraid to offer services on credit because a lot of Nigerians lack integrity. This is just like any other business endeavour.

The only major difference is just that they are dealing with lives. But.... as I mentioned, the Nigerian economic situation has made people hardened!

WHILE CONSIDERING THE ISSUE, I CAME UP WITH THIS.

1.We the people should push the govt to make some funds available to bail out private hospital business in crises or they should make funds available for those attended to on credit because of life-threatening situation and who still didn't pay afterwards. A mechanism should be in place whereby govt can 'buy' the credit (i.e. Pay) and then follow up on the individuals. If govt can buy toxic loans of banks, then they should be able to bail hospitals out as well. This will give hospitals some flexibility (although given the way we operate in this country, this can be abused as well).

2. If u cannot afford private hospitals, Abeg use govt hospital. CS in Lagos private hospitals cost from 120k to like a million naira. Majority charge btw 250k-450k for operations without complications.

Honestly that is the real problem. It's hard to give people anything on credit here as most won't return it. Even when they have the money some will prefer to use it for others things than to honor their debts. Organizations and individuals have gone bankrupt because of helping people so they grow weary. It's sad that everyone will now suffer for the evil of a few

@OP, the doctors in that hospital must be charged for murder. What happens if the man was able to pay for the CS and yet she died during the process.
So the man will loose his money, loose his wife and the unborn baby.
What happens to signing an undertaking not to release the wife and baby until all bills are cleared. embarassed
The doctors and the management of that hospital should be charged for voluntary manslaughter.
Wait this is Nigeria! embarassed Help us o Lord to get things right in this nation.

Can't be said better.
Most people will rather have a society wedding only to start fasting immediately afterwards!

That she died 18 days after a society wedding is a good indication that the money needed to save her life was spent lavishly 18 days earlier simply because she must belong! The husband must have done some run around to get money which some might find difficult to lend out after the reckless spending.

Spending all 18 days to delivery wasn't the best decision made by the couple!

May her soul rest in peace.
