cheruv: You have refused to seek knowledge and write out of ignorance. The language spoken in many parts of Ohaji area of Imo State is Ikwerre language. Egbema in Imo State also speaks same Egbema with the part carved into Rivers State. Oguta speaks Ukwuani/Aboh and parts of Ngor-Okpala speak Etche. Itu Mbon Uzo is not Igbo but an Ibibioid language. http://books.google.nl/books?id=9c_HAAAAQBAJ&pg=PA64&lpg=PA64&dq=itu+mbuzo+people&source=bl&ots=QWgUNhWcRX&sig=N8YZpQA_32Y0YB5V-wXc5Gj6bHo&hl=en&sa=X&ei=jLFFVNb7I8muPMG4gOgM&redir_esc=y Read that link Location. The Ibibio are located to the south and southeast of the Igbo, in southeastern Nigeria. This includes the former Calabar Province (the Itu Mbuzo subgroup is in the Bende Division), Owerri Province, and certain villages of the Obong. The Eastern Ibibio, or Ika, have attached their village groups to the Ndokki Igbo of Owerri. http://www.everyculture.com/Africa-Middle-East/Ibibio-Orientation.html Now when you come down to Aba area there exists several "Mgboko" villages that speak Ngwa and are Ngwa today. Try to find out the role of Ibibio in Mgboko formation. In fact Mgboko is another name for Ibibioid people. http://www.ethnologue.com/language/itm/view/***EDITION*** 3 Likes |

abagoro: Gbam!! Yet Anambra people always claim to be the origin of Igbos, however, as this thread clearly shows they (Ndi Anambra) are of mixed ancestry comprising Igala, Benin and Igbo. Imo State - as aptly described - is the Heartland of Igbos - 100%! 1 Like |

adusim:after intermarring with Abia,Ebonyi,Anambra you are still calling Imo 100 % igbo forgeting that uraata did not end in imo, there is also uraata in abia state, the marriage thing between imo state and others has been going on many many years ago, pre -colonia, during colonia and after, upto this year they are still intermarring so you see you Imolits are not 100% Igbo (by blood) . |
Re: Igala Language In Anambra State. by abagoro(m): 7:43am On Oct 25, 2014 |
letu: He committed a fallacy by authoritstively claiming blood purity for Imo State. In my side we have Ijaw, Igala and Benin ancestry too. The point I raised which he based his comments on is that Imo is the only State that is indigeneously 100% Igbo speaking. The reason is because the languages surrounding us are Igbo based like Ukwuani, Ikwerre and Etche on the Rivers and Delta side while the rest of our surrounding States are Igbo. |
Re: Igala Language In Anambra State. by adusim: 7:11pm On Oct 26, 2014 |
abagoro: Not a fallacy, my Ugwuta brother. We are 100% Igbo. There are no other languages spoken in Imo, which is quite unlike Anambra - the so called home of the Igbos! |

abagoro:Lol,this 100% and 50% purity stuff is funny. I think it's time to let go of it and just be 'Igbo'. As for me, am from Abia and i'm 100% igbo. Lol |

Just asking. If airtime for such programmes are paid for, then the media stations would have no choice but to air it. Money talks, and bull.sh'it walks, they say. blaqoracle: Hehehe...hahaha...LWKMD!! You are wicked! Chai! All you needed to do was to just explain to the guy, that the Igala in Anambra state are already at home! Their ancestral homes were located within the borders of Anambra state, by the silly people that partitioned the country and drew geographical borders across people's homes without any respect for cultural or linguistic affinity or consanguinity. So which home are they going back to, again? Did they keep any separate homes in Kogi? Chai. I weak o! |

laudate: In honesty, some of these so-called 'migration' stories are half-truths and were cooked up only as recently. We Africans love to cook up stories and live by superstitions. Only DNA testing will determine correctly where whom actually migrated from. Almost every village wants to make up some story how they migrated from some glorious place in the past, and then put it up on the internet and the falsity starts spreading from there. 2 Likes |

bigfrancis21: Hmmn... I beg to differ. The truth is that everyone migrated from somewhere. Either because they were fleeing from marauders, or in a bid to escape conquest, or simply because of trading links, agricultural activities, nomadic wanderings or just to enhance business prospects. A large number of scholars, anthropologists and historians, have actually found evidence to support some of the migration patterns, that were mentioned in the oral history of many African communities. The Ossomala community in Anambra, is a good example of an Igbo community with strong Igala influence. I used to wonder why this was the case, but now I understand better. In the past, many of these findings were published in books and hardcover form. But some are now being published online. As long as there is concrete evidence to support a migration theory, am ready to accept it. Afterall, human beings did not just grow from the ground did they? 1 Like |
Re: Igala Language In Anambra State. by pazienza(m): 11:32pm On Aug 24, 2015 |
Nonsense! Igala ancestry, yet Igbos at no time had an empire, never colonized any non Igbo group as to force Igbo language on them, yet we have a supposedly Igala and Bini people speaking Igbo today as a first language. Now this is the rational explanation. We all knew that Igala and Bini had strong Kingdoms, they invaded these Igbo communities with no monarchy but traditional Igbo republicans, these Bini and Igala invaders organized the hitherto aboriginal Igbo groups of those lands into kingdoms, made themselves kings, but because the natives were originally Igbo speaking and are in majority, these new invaders were forced to become Igbo speaking to relate with the people, and they introduced few Igala and Edo words into the original Igbo sentences of the aborigines. These new invaders who became kings gained the respect of the people, and soon the people started citing the places of origins of those invaders as the origin of the entire community. 3 Likes 1 Share |
Re: Igala Language In Anambra State. by pazienza(m): 11:34pm On Aug 24, 2015 |
The second scenario is that the people migrated as an already Igbo speaking group living in Bini to their current locations when things fell apart for them in Bini. Ezechima, Akalaka and Esumai fall into this category. 1 Like |

adeitoro:Jemigbola is a Yoruba name, not Igala.. Nice thread, I hope the south west people can see this and learn somethings cos to them, we have only 3tribes in Nigeria.. South west people are so tribalistic and resistant to getting informed.. To them, the world starts and ends in Lagos and Ibadan.. |
Re: Igala Language In Anambra State. by Nobody: 9:52pm On Nov 03, 2015 |
flightz: Igala is a Yoruboid language, so expect to see a few Igala names that look Yoruba. The Catholic priest he is talking about is probably Fr Hyacinth Jemigbola, an Anambra Igala from Igbedor, in Anambra West, LGA. 1 Like |
