This is a serious issue and could be a hot debate topic.
A young girl of about 8yrs comes around my household during the long holidays and she stays a whole 4 months. She comes from a small community in onda state *not so learned community*. She lives with her learned parents and goes to one of the best schools there. Unfortunately, her english is so bad it's enough machinery to win world war 3.
Her spoken grammar and vocabulary is worse than that of a 4yr old which has made her stuck in the nursery school for years now. Some of her sentences include: 'she is kitchen'; i'm unirate; i'm looking pencil. Even the english alphabets are a problem for her. She is corrected each time she speaks bad english but she repeats the same mistakes over and over again.
Within the 4mnths she spends around my household, she get a private tutor, correction from every member of the household and special classes but she isnt improving as expected. She forgets easily, and can watch television to the death *she mostly doesn't undastnd what happens on it*.
This problem is only in her academics. She is an average in other aspect of life.
I personally think this could be as a result of environmental influence on this girl. What could be her problem and what other factors could affect the develpoment of a child.....

You have said it already. Not just educationally but every wise.

But I'll advise a change of environment completely. At 8, it is not too late for her. It is not late at all.

Leaving her in nursery school isn't a good idea after all can the little kids speak that much better than her?

Put her with her mates in a good environment and she'll be forced to improve whether deliberately or not.

A child who attends a school where varnacular is spoken instead of Good English, wouldn't be any different from her..Take her to a good school and see the difference.

Environment influences not just a child but every humanbeing even animals and plant also are inanimate objects !!

Also another thing is ''interest'' and this is a very powerful tool that can conquer environmental influences which is largely influenced by Peers and the nature of such society !!!

I think the girl in the Op need some little IronHands @8 ..... She's taking you people's effort for fun !!

Lie , some child are just poor psyche wise ..... Socialisation start from Home/Family and I think her family should help re-route her interest before any school will add the academic flavour !!
