Here are the few things I've learned that can definitely help you to keep the fighting in your relationship to a minimum.

1. Don't TAKE COMPLAINTS SERIOUSLY: In the moments when a guy(gal) is grouchy due to something else going on,it's easy for them 2 find fault with everything around them. i.e You! maybe you forgot to wash d dishes or left the cap off the toothpaste for the 90th time. Regardless of the reasons,he is yelling at something u did and his Huber moodiness is directed to you. Although the natural human reaction is to fight yelling to yelling,but it will only escalate the fight to the next level(or five levels depending on how loud you are. Just remain calm and realize that you are not the cause of his anger and frustration. Keep yourself disengaged from the argument and you'll bring your partner back to a composed state. Its easier said than done but if you practice not taking certain complaints personally you'll find yourself arguing a lot less.

2. FORGET PLAYING DEFENSE: Trying to make yourself right in a fight,has a huge down side. You can make the other person fell not only wrong but stupid,unimportant, unloved,and fearful of speaking their mind again. Do that enough and your relationship will be irreparable. If your partner is genuinely upset at something you did,don't start attacking them back to invalidate their point. Be humble enough to listen to what he/she is trying to tell you because it bothers him/her. Because no one is perfect and you can always improve yourself. If u show your other half that you are always willing to try to do better, he will follow your example when you ask the same of him.


3. SAY THANK YOU EVERYDAY: Most of the times,the really bad fights happen because one person begins feel unappreciated, and their
feeling of being taken for granted comes to a head. You can stop a fight before it starts brewing just by telling your boy/girlfriend or spouse "Thank You Everyday". If u make saying thank you a religious practice, you'll never need divine intervention to save your relationship.
