They are as follow : -South west : civilization in Nigeria starts there, In places like Lagos, Ibadan where the first tertiary institution, first industrial estates, teaching hospital and first TV station is located. and it homes the most industrialized state in Nigeria. (Ogun state), commercial capital of Nigeria (Lagos) which makes the region the economic power house of the country (Nigeria). -South south : home to important place in Nigeria like Port Harcourt the third most important city in Nigeria, calabar ( the tourist capital of Nigeria) and the region produces the states with the highest amount of GDP. -South east : Presence of large market in this region boosts the rate of development there. places like aba, Onitsha etc attracts investors due to the large markets. - North west : the region where the traditional head of Muslim is situated (sultan of Sokoto). it includes states like kano the commercial base of the north, kaduna the defence capital of the country. -North central : this includes states like Benue, kogi and nassarawa and the FCT (the Administrative Capital of Nigeria). Though poverty is still rampant in the region. -North east. :due to the insurgency, its understandable for the region to be at the bottom in terms of development. the most underdeveloped states in Nigeria is located there, nothing much up there. no thanks to the climate of the region. ©. WIZGUY69: ....SW, not SS, produces the most IGR in Nigeria. SS has the biggest chunk of Federal Allocation! + SS has the highest volume, in barrel, of oil production. Also, how is your map positioned? Jigawa is East of Kano......so why is Kano in NC and Jigawa in NW? 6 Likes |

If you're judging economy by government budgets than it almost makes sense, but the poverty you see in the SS in Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa, you'll never see in the SE. the SW has the same type of deep poverty. While I do believe the SW and SS are more productive than the SE due to oil and multinationals, the average person born in the SE is at an economic advantage because his odds of being born into slum or shack poverty are extremely low. 13 Likes 2 Shares |

Ikengawo:all in a bid to support the ibo course, you started sounding like an illiterate. The article states SW and SS are the most developed, even your statement above says such, yet you claim the people of those regions are poorer than those of a region poorer than theirs. 14 Likes 1 Share |

^LOL, We have long disowned Chino. You can have him. Go back and look at his pictures. They're fairly well built up places with bad public infrastructure. That's simply bad government. In all other regions you can find people living in mud houses (in the city) and slum shanties, or in the SS's case both. When you say "In order of development" You have to be technical. Though the economy in Bayelsa is BIG than the economy Abuja because of the volume of oil moving out of there and the money, you can't say Bayelsa is higher than Abuja in order of development. Economic size is not development. Hate or like Igbos, You can't say that there's anywhere in the SE who's citizens have a lower standard of life than Bayelsans, or people in Ekiti and Osun. Let alone places like Makoko and Ajegunle. The economy in Onitcha is bigger than Owerri, but people in Owerri enjoy more development. 18 Likes |

Are unsure of this? that same owerri I have visited several times? Poverty is every where my friend trying to excuse u r state from it is delusional. If all south eastern states are eldorado according to your claims why is the emigration pattern is higher than immigration? A bi human beings have suddenly started preferring poverty and slums to wealth? 12 Likes |

huptin:so in your brain theres more development in bayelsa osun and ekiti than that same owerri? Be logical in your arguments. The poverty an owerri man sees is the same or more than what someone on the PH waterfront sees? Like I said a bigger economy doesnt mean "more development". Nigeria has a bigger economy than South Africa 5 Likes |

huptin: if you have visited owerri, you wouldn't argue like this. Emigration patterns have failed to establish facts on poverty and wealth in this nation. SE is the typical eg. Anyway, the same owerri hosts a lot of non indigenes too. |

Ikengawo: God bless you Most people don't understand the difference btw " Economy " and " Development " Economy is goods services and wealth oriented while development is people conscious. Nigeria has a bigger economy compare to SA but SA is more developed compare to Nigeria Most highly populated Nations have higher tendencies of being economic powerhouse but what matters is the access to material things that can make life meaningful If you tell me to choose btw being a Swiss citizen and Chinese citizen, I opt to be a Swiss citizen despite china being the largest economy of recent 6 Likes |

InyinyaAgbaOku: I have visited Ower ri several times and beside the numerous hotels donning the town particularly the new owerri parts, I didn't see much industrial and commercial activities that can sustain the kind of opulence and wealthy lifestyle you people always come here to boast about. By the way the relatively cost of living of the town ensure that most people who are poor do not reside there, they stay in the outskirts and only come to the town for their daily activities. Going out at nite in Owerri is quite scary because of lack of street lights in most places and the apparent darkness coupled with the fact that city becomes almost desolate at nite, you only find people congregating in fun places. The major mode of transport is keke and it's quite expensive. Now southwestern towns make provisions for both the rich and the poor. Ibadan for instance is a very huge city with a part with brown roofs and all while the other part houses modern houses and the relatively affluent citizens. 2 Likes |

huptin:Who travels more than the Americans or Chinese but that doesn't mean they are poor. So travelling wide is obviously a wrong yardstick to rate a region as poor but actually a mark of a developed place. 1 Like |

huptin: owerri has less poverty than any of your Yoruba capitals. Even the residents in imo places of orlu, mbaise are far more affluent than your non capitals. In other words, SE citizens are more affluent 1 Like |

TheIROKO: It is common knowledge that people migrate to places with opportunities and good infrastructure. The Americans and Chinese that travel other places do so either as expatriates or for business expansion. And they usually go back after a while. Most of the American and Chinese businesses in Nigeria have their head offices in their home countries. Now is that the same thing here in Nigeria? If indeed there are better opportunities in the south east people will be flooding there, it's just natural. You look at Ibadan u see a big city full of brown roofs a good investor see a huge opportunity for retail businesses. Those brown roofs houses human beings with needs to be satisfied. Now answer truthfully if given a choice between Ibadan a sprawling city full of activities and owerri a sparsely populated city where most of the inhabitants visit by day and go back to their rural or semi rural enclaves by nite where would u site your business? 9 Likes |

Apart from Lagos which a No Man's Land Ibadam is clusters of shanties, hamlets, villages, slums and ghettos, its only in Ibadam that landlords ask if you want a house with a toilet or not. Abeokuta and Oshogbo are twin brothers, Akure is the only city with some touches of modernity in yorubaland the rests are like my greatgrand fathers pigsty. JustCare: 1 Like |
