… Obtains party’s guber nomination form

Speaker of House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, yesterday attended a stakeholders’ meeting convened for members of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State.An informed source told Daily Sun in Sokoto that the speaker also obtained the party’s governorship nomination form to enable him contest on its platform in the forthcoming general elections.
The meeting, which was held at Presidential Lodge of Government House, Sokoto, lasted for two hours. Part of the meeting was held behind closed-doors after Governor Aliyu Wamakko gave the opening remarks.

An informed source, who was part of the closed-door session of the meeting, told Daily Sun that the speaker was persuaded by all stakeholders in attendance to accept the party’s nomination form, as a ‘prize’ for his loyalty to the governor and the people of the state.

“It is true that Speaker Tambuwal was offered the party’s nomination form for governorship ticket. In fact, it was like a payback done to him by the party members. He had graciously accepted it and is now part of us. Sooner, we are expecting the formal grand reception for him to defect to APC,” the source said.

Many stakeholders declined to comment on the outcome of the closed-door meeting that was attended by virtually all bigwigs in Sokoto APC.

Earlier, Governor Wamakko, who presided over the meeting commended the speaker’s loyalty, trustworthy and doggedness against all odds.

The governor told the stakeholders not to be surprised by Tambuwal’s presence in their midst, adding: “He had always be part of them from the beginning.”

He also hinted that he was in custody of all the party nomination forms brought from Abuja, but undecided on how to make it available to the aspirants. “All what I want is unity of purpose.” he said, stressing that, though he (Tambuwal) may not have been with the party all this while, he had kept faith with his political roots and protected the interest of the state.
