A former vice president and presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Atiku Abubakar, may be setting a precedent as he plans to earn a token N1 as salary per annum, if he is elected president in the February 2015 election.
This indication emerged on Saturday ahead of the Policy Retreat Review at the Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State, which begins Monday.
The retreat is part of the campaign strategies of the former vice president, who on September 24, formally declared his intention to seek the APC ticket, come December.
The Nigerian president currently earns a basic salary of N3.5 million annually while the vice president takes N3.03 million.
However, the president is entitled to other benefits/allowances. These are regular allowances such as hardship allowance of N1.7 million; Constituency allowance, N8.7 million; leave allowance of N351,470.50: severance gratuity N10.5 million; and motor vehicle loan N14.1 million.

That is not a problem. As head of Road Safety, Soyinka did it. Rebadu did it as Head NNPC committee. We have been told Buhari collects 10% of own pension as former Head of State. It will not be out of place for Atiku.

In fact, if Buhari is elected, I he will definitely not collect all the money Jonathan is squandering.

Nigerians are capable of Sincerity, Accountability and Goodness. It is just our current greedy politicians that are systematically feeding us the theory that without bribery, looting and crime that we will not survive. Vote out Jonathan and let us prove them wrong.

Niggar trying hard to appear relevant. Abeg this stunt is becoming stale.

GEJ came up with shoeless slogan. . . . . .just to appear he live an impoverish live.

GMB came up with loan for acquisition of his form. . . . .just to appear as if poverty dey under him clothes.

Atiku is here with his own stunt. . . This stunt would have been better if he is ready not to receive any allowance.

Also, if he thinks he would serve the nation for free, why cant he dash the motherless children and widows in his home state the 27 million naira he used to acquire form?

Sometimes I wonder, cant these people sever people without holding an office?

Well, that is absolutely unnecessary as Atiku will be the last cockroach to rule Nigeria, besides Nigeria is too young to have a GAY as President.

He's more concerned about the renewal of his Oil Block License(Intel Logistics) that will soon expire in 2017.

Because salary is the least platform that a Nigerian head thief uses to drain the country's coffers. His target is the unaccounted oill money as usual and dubious loans from world financial bodies.

These guys should stop insulting our sensibilities. These strategies are archaic for Lai's sake. What will N1 buy even if you accumulate it throughout your tenure?

Turakin Adamawa wey go fit buy 100 forms of APC presidential nomination form without batting an eyelid.

Tell us you wont collect any salary/emoluments/entitlements and we will consider you but then get your party ticket first.

For now, I choose a president that collects his full entitlements as specified in the constitution just like any governor and Nigerians in various spheres of Life.

Nigerians are no longer gullible. Let him first reduce his university's school fees before we can take him serious.

hardship allowance of N1.7 million; Constituency allowance, N8.7 million; leave allowance of N351,470.50: severance gratuity N10.5 million; and motor vehicle loan N14.1 million.
this is what I don't get. What da hell is hardship allowance and vehicle loan?

@ Topic: Atiku should forget all these format, it won't workk. When he was VP for 8yrs he didn't remember N1 per annum. He really wants to loot and then LIE that he lost in worth as President. Afterall, Gbenga Daniel declared that he was worth N6 billion in 2003 and N5 billion in 2011 after leaving office- just to appear that he lost in income/revenue.

expired scope. This sounds almost similar to the campaign gimmicks of the 1960's "Vote me and I will build a borehole of fura de nunu for this community."
