Typical of all Unilorin stdnts;alwz feeling lyk..... I never meant everybody in Unilorin was admitted on d basis of thr ethnicity. It was just a hyperbole Bro. But honestly, I'm speaking 4rm experience.

U made 2 classic blunders; referring to me as a male& telling me 2study hard to be admitted into Unilorin. While I may 4giv u for ignorantly attacking my feminism, I'll not treat any attack on my intellectualism wit a kid's glove. 4 ur info, I sought admission into Unilorin as far back as 2008 b4 being admitted into OAU d following year.

By Heaven's grace, 2day i'v completed my youth service. Do not hide behind ur screen to throw tantrums cos u never might know who u'r chatting wit. I pray Oga Seun takes urgent measures b4 all d kids on ds forum turn ds mature forum to 2go(where kids assemble to discuss trivial issues).

In conclusion, Wat I posted above was my personal opinion. U do av a right to agree or disagree but u shldnt av resorted to tantrum throwing. Peace!
there is no peace in ur write up. you just wanted war . change is needed in u

The toughest universities are not necessarily the best.

Most of them are tough because most candidates apply to study there becos they pay far cheaper tuition fees, since they are mainly federal schools subsidised considerably by Fed Govt.

Many of them also come with prestige and glory that u may not get elsewhr in Nigeria. For eg, if i studied at University of Nigeria, dat alone would make me seem better than one who came from one State university of Science, or one Awolowo Ojukwu Balewa University.

So no need to fight over this, or take glory in these superflous comparisons.

It's simple logic, federal unis esp the 1st and 2nd genration schools are harder to get admission into. UNN, UNILAG, UNIBEN, ABU, ILORIN, OAU, UI etc

hmmmnnnnn .. Very sound analogy ..

For the benefit of young ones seeking admission, I want to offer my little contribution having read through most of these post here.
if am right, 'tough' means a university that will require a student to study hard in order to gain admission and actually graduate if eventually you get admitted.
However, the yardstick for the 'best' universities include;
1. The quality of its academic and research staff. This include well educated staff and experienced hands
2. The quality of infrastructures available to staff and students
3.The quality of its products, how graduates from the school perform on average in the corporate world and,or as entrepreneur
4. The generation of its products and contributions to sensitive areas of the economy
5. Impact of institutions in areas of research and developments in various sectors of of the country.
Tough therefore refers to such schools that require more efforts in studying in such schools.
Having said all these lets look at some institutions we can point at:
University of Ibadan: the premier university in Nigeria and has history on its side with seriously experienced staff and has produced loads of graduates that have impacted the nation, this is the same for OAU while Unilag leads in the corporate world for instance the first set of insurance &actuarial graduates of unilag are the top notch in the insurance industry today while UI has produced some of the beat doctors in Africa. Some of the best across various ethnic groups graduated from these schools.Of other qualities are regional powerhouses are Uniben, Unilorin,UNN and ABU. ABU has produced more politicians than any other school and have enjoyed more political patronage from the federal government than any other.its the best in the north and that's the position occupied by UNN in the East. The west seems to have more than one.
However, since another generation of universities came, many actually established without sufficient experienced staff and infrastructures but they have been doing well, we must mention institutions as FUTA, FUTMINNA, FUTO while some state universities are actually doing well like LAUTECT, EKSU(formerly UNAD) and LASU(medical courses) while Uniport and Unical fall within their category.
I hope this will help.

ehhyaaa!...where did you keep your IQ when you were about responding to my post?....Did you even understand what the topic was all about b4 you posted your comment?....sister,10,000 UNN wannabees applied for medsurg alone dis year...guess how many that had been taken after the release of primary and 1st supplementary lists?....BARELY 100...over 9,800 would still write JAMB next year...now if that doesn't define TOUGH competition,i wonder what does.....it's easier for Nigeria to win the world cup than for an average student to gain admission in2 the choicest courses[law, medsurg, pharmacy etc.] in UNN...ask another south-easterner if you doubt me
I do not know why you have to be abusive to buttress a point. UNN is one of the easiest universities to to secure admission and I stand to be corrected. Mind you, all my brother's friends gained admissions into UNN this year and my brother's own is for Pharmacy.

true talk... The UNN admission process is crap. Eight years ago, I had 269 in jamb, and got admitted on merit to study law in unn... At the registration point, one mad staff there said my ssce result was postdated( whatever that means) and stripped me of my admission. Na so I take cry go house, after my parents don hapi say dia baby boy don hammer enter unn. I had even been allocated hostel sef, had attended a few lectures, among other things.... All my efforts to even get philosophy fell through... It was later that one of the staff confided in me that since I am Yoruba, I should just forget trying to get in, because even the 'nwa afors' had not all gotten in... I cried my eyes out. I was so devastated that I could not even muster the energy to take the next JAMB.. Two years after, I mustered enough courage to take Jamb again, opting to study law at OAU as first choice... With my JAmB score of 272 and and post ume score of 298, na my house I dey wey news of my admission on merit come meet me, without lobbying any OAU staff, or knocking on any office Door. I only resumed in school to do my registration and commence lectures. Na the same 'post dated' result OAU accept without as much as a raise of an eyebrow. Having now graduated strong and presently in law school, my middle finger goes to UNN, and whatever it is associated with.
hmmm. very strange. What exactly happened to d result b'cos u should have taken it up.

lol...bros that exam was easy. The only thing that made fupre difficult this year is the faulty marking.
add to that the fact that no clear cutoff for any course.

Aside this, fupre is very easy if you are lucky, the biggest problem is you may not get your desired course, irrespective of score!
The non transprency makes it very tricky to get into.
very true brother.

Brother, medsurg is different. So many pple apply for it in d universities dat offer d course. D 100 they take or took, like in ur case above is becos every medical skul in d country has a required number of medical doctors dat must graduate every year as prescribed my MDCN.
