Inspector General Of Police Restores Tambuwal’s Security Aides / Why Tambuwal's Security Was Withdrawn: He's No Longer The Speaker / FG Withdraws Tambuwal's Security Details (2) (3) (4)

Police set to restore Tambuwal’s security aides The policemen controversially withdrawn from Aminu Tambuwal, speaker of the house of representatives, will be restored on Friday, TheCable understands. Suleiman Abba, the acting inspector-general of police, ordered the withdrawal of the security aides on Thursday, citing Tambuwal’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressives Congress (APC) as reason. The action had been widely condemned as politically motivated since the police are not empowered to interpret a constitutional matter. Curiously, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Civil Defence Corps did not withdraw their men. A presidency source told TheCable on Friday that the acting IG “clearly acted on bad legal advice in taking the decision”. He said President Goodluck Jonathan, who has been accused by the APC of giving the order to withdraw the police officers, will convene a meeting on Friday to resolve the impasse. Presidency is yet to make an official pronouncement on the development despite all fingers pointing in the direction of Jonathan. “The president believes in the rule of law and it is becoming glaring that the police did not get good legal advice in taking the decision they took. If the president was the one that ordered it, as claimed, why would he not also order DSS and civil defence to withdraw their men?” he asked. However, it is still considered “highly improbable” that the police would withdraw the security aides of Nigeria’s No. 4 citizen without the knowledge of the president. Meanwhile, APC senators plan to make it difficult for the confirmation of the appointment of Abba as IG. Abba, appointed in acting capacity in August, needs to be confirmed by the senate. Angered by the Tambuwal saga, leading APC senators have vowed to block Abba’s confirmation, TheCable was told. But his confirmation requires only a simple a majority or a voice vote, and the APC does not have the numbers in the upper chamber of the national assembly. Although defections are now taking place on almost weekly basis, the PDP had 65 of the 109 senators as at the last count. http://www.thecable.ng/police-set-restore-tambuwals-security-aides |

Our Policemen are busy fighting crime, I suggest TambuWale use boko haram security. The only "security aides" Tambuwal is likely to see, would be the ones sent to arrest him for impersonating the position of speaker. Mulikat Akande-Adeola is speaker in waiting. 2 Likes |

Jonathan must BOW! I said it and will keep saying it that the gra-gra of the Presidency and the IGP will amount to exercise in futility. Their withdrawal of Aides will not stop Aminu Tambawal from being speaker. He remains Speaker except 240 Reps decide otherwise. Btw: the PdP should come to reality that APC is incharge of the House. They can keep the Senate till June 2015 when APC takesover. Goodbye Jonathan Goodbye PDP Welcome Buhari Welcome APC 16 Likes 1 Share |

Acting Inspector General of Police was only auditioning and trying to impress Jonadunce when he decided to jump the gun. At the end of the day, I expect Jonadunce himself to deny he had anything to do with the action of the police. So, common sense has hit the saTAN ambassadors and PDP at large in the face. We told you Tambuwal did his homework diligently before he decamped to APC but you were all over the place casting aspersion on him. Jonadunce, saTAN ambassadors, and PDP at large are in for a rude awakening come December. You are going to see the biggest decampment in the history of Nigeria. PDP is like a cancer. The cancer called PDP must be killed for Nigeria to rise again. PDP has nothing to show as achievement since 1999 and saTAN ambassadors and PDP want us continue like this with status quo. It won't happen. Sai Buhari! Sai APC! 14 Likes |

If the security details are restored, then it would be another blow to the The constitution is clear on this, if the speaker ceases to be the speaker, his security detail would be withdrawn. But in this case, it is very clear Tambuwal remains the speaker until he is impeached by house members or removed by a competent law court. None of this has happened yet but GEJ and PDP have already scrambled to withdraw security detail. I believe the police would soon restore Tambuwal's security detail and that would be another embarrassment for this government which always acts before it thinks. 5 Likes |
