There appears to be a split between Speaker of the House of Representatives Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and the Deputy Speaker Emeka Ihedioha, as lawmakers loyal to former suspects the latter and are plotting to unseat him.
The pro-Tambuwal group is now ready to proceed with moves to unseat Ihedioha who, they allege, is being supported by the Presidency to reconvene the House to upstage his boss.
It was reliably learnt that the move against the Deputy Speaker has reached an advanced stage as an impeachment motion against him is being drafted ‎that would be backed by many members.
The move has the backing of many PDP members from the north and all APC members.
"We are alarmed at moves by the deputy speaker to reconvene the House somewhere this week in order to remove the speaker.
"Therefore, we have resolved that Ihedioha will be the first casualty if he dares reconvene the House because he has been surviving because of Tambuwal's protection."

I have said it many times and I have to repeat it again. You have to be foolish to think any Hausa (PDP or APC) will be willing to remove and disgrace Tambuwal. Muslims from the North dominate PDP. PDP is an Hausa/Islamic Party dominated by Muslims from the North. For being Muslims, the Hausas will not be willing to disgrace a fellow Muslim out of Speakership sit. Jonadunce can go ahead and spend chunk of the looted $20B to bribe Hausas in the House of Rep. in order to remove Tambuwal. The bribe won't work.

PDP, saTAN ambassadors, Jonadunce and PEJ can go and die all I care.

The truth is no side have the numbers to decide this matter in the NASS

let the courts decide.

Ihedioha should stay action until december. If Tambuwal wants to precide over the house as a minority leader let Tambuwal go ahead and do that. It will go down in history that when the time came for Tambuwal to take responsibility for his choices he rather chose to circumvent the rules and toy with an institution as important as the second arm of government.

I am sure in time he will be removed by the courts!

Since Tambuwal has refused to be a responsible custodian of the law. Let him do what he likes. We will see how far it will get him.

December and February are just weeks away!!!

Ihedioha is in trouble. If he do the right thing, PDP will swallow him a life. If he does the wrong thing, he'll be removed by NASS. which ever way, he's still in trouble.

The NASS can not do nothing to him

no side have the numbers to do anything.

But for the sake of stability he should sit back and allow the institutions deal with this.

Just like David Mark sat back in the Yar'adua death crisis and allowed the situation to get to a head, and Jonathan did nothing and no one blamed him for misteps. Ihedioha should sit back and allow the institutions and the law to sort this out. It will take time but it will be good for everyone.

Read Tambuwal's house of reps bills here: http://www.nassnig.org/nass2/legislation.php?id=1678
Observe that MOST of the bills dated as far back as 2011 yet inconclusive. Are these the bills he wants the president to assent to? grin

Anyone with the opinion Northern Reps would side with Tambuwal forgets politics is about interest. Why would any Northern PDP rep align with Tambuwal knowing such a decision is tantamount to political harakiri.

A week is a long time in politics so the saying goes, in a months time Tambuwal would have been forgotten as members gear up for the election.

My congratulations to Mulikat Akande the speaker in waiting.

Nice story, but nobody has the votes to remove anybody. Ihedioha will pay for his 2011 mischief, but is not via a house impeachment. Is tambuwal still a member of the house? That's the question, his so called loyalist should answer first.

That was the plan from day one, before Tambuwal and Ihedioha sabotaged the party. They are the underdogs now, wishing both Goodluck.

The easiest way to remove Tambuwal, without a serious political backlash and without following the illegal route, is to approach a court of competent jurisdiction to declare his seat vacant.

They've been screaming marginalization since Teefnubu sold that position to malam Tambuwal. Time to right that (perceived) injustice.

If we are to go down memory lane, and check precedence, then Ihedioha is as good as gone if this move is real. The funny part of it is that it will be his FELLOW Igbo reps that will be used to spearhead the impeachment. I say this with all honesty and without bias. We can take precedence frm the un-ceremonial removal of Ewerem, Okadigbo, and Wabara as Senate President, and Ogbulafor as PÐP Chairman orchestrated by their own kinsmen

And what has changed since the position was "sold" to Tambuwal? What assurance do you have the position will not be "sold" again?

There's enough evidence that it won't be sold this time.

SW PDP members are already gearing up for a fight to keep the speakership position.
Tinubu doesn't have the energy to fight now, dude is more concerned about his dwindling health and fortune.

Why must SW produce the speaker?

Because PDP has a national Power sharing system.

SS President
NW VP
NC Chair of the Senate
NE Party Chair person
SE Secretary to Government
SW Speaker of the house.

When decision are made about Nigeria, everyone is at the table.

Tambuwal's election disrupted the formula. The same system was in place during Obj and Yaradua's tenures. Remember, he was not the PDP's candidate. Mulikat Akande was the person the party nominated for speaker.
