Controversial Nigerian Senator Chris Anyanwu has
done it again. Over the weekend, the alleged trouble maker beat up a PDP leader at a meeting of delegates in Ezinihitte - Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State. Eyewitnesses said Chris Anyanwu and Ezinihitte PDP Chairman Chinemerem Madu engaged each other in a heated argument that led to a physical fight on Saturday the 1st of November 2014 during a meeting/ election of delegates. At the height of argument, Chris Anyanwu allegedly
reached out to Madu and gave him a dirty slap on the right cheek. In exchange, we learnt Mr Madu reached back to her and gave her several hot slaps that caused her to roar like a wounded lion. Her yell reportedly attracted the attention of onlookers who couldn’t but blame her for making the first move.
She was later rescued from Madu who according to
sources meant to teach her the lesson of her life.
Fillers in Imo State alleged that Chris Anyanwu is a
trouble maker that slaps her husband at will, throws
slippers and shoes at men at the slightest provocation. Chris slapped Madu because she was displeased with the PDP Chairman’s attitude and because of his loyalty to Honourable Emeka Ihedioha. She was reportedly rushed to the hospital for checkup when she complained of breathing
problems. Which kind madam be this…. Na wa o.

People,it is very true. Am writing this from Ezinihitte LGA right now. Came in from Lagos to observe proceedings but the whole election was called off in the LGA because of that singular incident. Now,nobody is quite sure when the delegates election will be fixed.
Will have to head back to Lagos.

You have just made me to believe that many of my igbo brothers are jobless in Lagos. But can't you sell even key holders on traffic? SmH

This story is as true as the 2010 story that Ikedi Ohakim slapped a Catholic priest. None of those who spoke of the slap said they witnessed the incident but they all knew somebody else who witnessed it. Anyhow, that's politics for you. Propaganda reigns supreme. Ohakim just couldn't connect with the people so he had to go. I supported the people of that state for sending him packing, thus sending out the message that you don't mess with the people. Unfortunately, they voted in the circus director called Rochas. The most disorganized and confused of all the governors. He comes up with so many populist projects but only ends up delivering crap if he delivers at all. Honestly, I pity my maternal state. Very wonderful people but unfortunately have had below par governors since 31 December 1983 when Major General Buhari illegally acquired power and ended the visionary government of Dee Sam Mbakwe.

That man was great. He industrialist the old Imo. He knew his people liked education and he set up the then Imo State University, which, along with Ambrose All University, Ekpoma and Lagos State University was the first set of state universities created in this country. Mbakwe built infrastructure. There was potable water in the major towns of the old Imo State: Aba, Owerri and Umuahia. There were also rural water schemes. He built and equipped general hospitals across the then 21 local government areas of the state. The roads across the state were superbly built by Monier Construction Company (MCC).

Mbakwe had his faults, though. For instance, he liked owing teachers. There was a state-wide teachers strike in 1980/81 that lasted for months. And Mbakwe ordered mass promotion of pupils to next class because the strike affected the promotion exams. He reportedly said Imo people were brilliant and that pupils would lose little by missing few months of learning. It is not known whether the pupils lost much by missing those few months of learning. What is known, however, is that in spite of his cat and dog relationship with teachers, they knew that he was the best option available and as such voted massively for him in the 1983 governorship elections-- which he won, by a landslide, too. The people liked him because he was never hypocritical. He never claimed to be a saint. Most importantly, he performed. 31 years later, his legacies are still there.

It will not be well with Buhari and his co-travelers for truncating the march of Imo State to greatness. That state has never recovered since that coup.
