Jonathan’s 2nd Term Declaration Has Thrown APC Into Confusion – OLISA METUH by freshprincex49(m): 6:45am On Nov 14, 2014
The Peoples Democratic Party has noted that Tuesday’s landmark declaration by President Goodluck Jonathan, the overwhelming support shown by Nigerians and catalogue of unprecedented verifiable achievements marshalled out have thrown the APC into confusion.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh in a statement on Thursday said the APC in their “characteristic manner, instead of accepting the successes already acknowledged by Nigerians, went into their usual shadowboxing and mischievous propaganda in a failed attempt to score a cheap political point.”

The ruling party said such a lurid epithet on the APC defies the logic of an alternative while exposing it as hypocritical and opportunistic. It therefore called for objectivity and forthrightness from the political class, especially the opposition as the campaigns for the 2015 general elections begin in earnest.

It further berated the APC for always seeking to gain political capital from the insecurity challenges in the nation adding that “Nigerians, by their massive support on Tuesday showed that they know the truth and are solidly behind their President.”

The statement said notwithstanding that he defied the expectations of the terrorists and their sponsors to go ahead with the declaration, a day after the Potiskum bombing, the President and the PDP stand unyieldingly by the mourning families as his disposition, speech and mobilizing of over 100,000 Nigerians in prayers at the event clearly showed.

It added that for the APC to cry wolf over this declaration which was scheduled almost a month before the bombing, means the opposition party is either lacking in institutional memory or suffering from a deliberate amnesia.

“Nigerians may recall that on the 20th of May, 2014, there was a twin bomb blasts in the city of Jos, killing 118 people and wounding at least 56 others. However, this tragedy on the nation did not restrain the APC from holding its so called “Mega Rally” in Ekiti the very next day, May 21 in promotion of the gubernatorial campaigns of the then Governor Kayode Fayemi. The entire top hierarchy of the APC, its national leaders, governors and the Interim National Executive were in attendance. At the rally, the APC scarcely observed a minute silence in honour of fellow Nigerians mowed down in cold blood before charging the atmosphere with usual insults and loathing acts of insensitivity, speaker, after speaker.

“It will be recalled also that while Nigerians and the International Community applauded President Jonathan for proscribing the terrorist sect, Boko Haram, the APC released a statement on the 10th of June 2013 alleging that such an act was “unconstitutional”! This is the APC pretending away from the heinous crimes of the same terrorist organization it once sought protection for.

“On the other hand, it is on record that President Jonathan and the PDP cancelled all scheduled activities on June 3, 2012 when the Dana Air crashed and declared a week national mourning. Unfortunately, the APC desecrated this as all its leaders converged on Kano the same week to celebrate a turbanning event, meaning that 163 souls that perished as a result of that crash were not important to the party.

“All over the world, it is known that terrorists plan their evil activities to manipulate political events and policies and that the more you allow them space, the more dastardly and frequent they turn. If terrorists must be denied the publicity they crave so much for, it becomes the responsibility of all patriots in moments like this to work hard to prevent them from hijacking events or taking control of our destiny. Clearly, the APC lacks the political capacity to understand this matter of statecraft.

“No doubt, it is easy to deduce that the APC was stunned by the mammoth crowd that turned out for the event and indeed unsettled by the unity existing in the PDP even in the wake of congresses for the election of candidates participating in 2015 general elections. Too bad! Nothing can APC do about this! In spite, we wish to restate our position on issue based campaigns while challenging the APC once more to match our pace with positive ideas.”

The PDP restated that President Goodluck Jonathan remains the candidate to beat as he enjoys a very strong bond with the people of Nigeria in all the nooks and crannies. This it said is as a result of his exceptional performance in last three and half years not withstanding the spirited efforts by the opposition to distract, detract and frustrate his administration.

“Indeed, no amount of propaganda and negative campaign can take away the visible massive infrastructural developments, the freedom Nigerians now enjoy, the repositioning of the manufacturing sector, the thriving of the private sector in all areas of the economy, the unprecedented but silent revolution in power, agriculture, education, communication, transport and health sectors, all for which our dear nation now ranks as the largest and fastest growing economy in Africa”.

Methuselah should quit disgracing himself and tell us how Jonathan intend to cement his Stealing-Is-Not-Corruption style of Government.

It was very shameful watch Jonathan repeat all the promises he made in 2011. Jonathan could not point one problem he successfully solved for nearly 6 yrs he has been President Of Nigeria.

I support his challenge to the opposition on issue based campaigns and not on maligning persons and personalities. Let them(opposition), challenge/confront the PDP based on their programs and provide alternative plan for Nigerians based on empirical and sustainable ideas not lies and propaganda.

I have said it that most people who support or represent PDP need to have their brain checked. What rubbish is this one saying.

You bought forms indicating an interest to run, 2weeks later you said you are declaring. Declaring for a position you publicly had bought the form. It is clear the criteria for being a SaTAN and PDP spokesman is to submit your brain and have pap pumped in its stead.

Everybody and everything from the APC to United States to United Nations are the ones blackmailing your government, rather than look yourself in the face that you have a bad, clueless and daft PRESIDENTIAL MATERIAL, who lacks the commonsense and initiative to govern.

Celebrating a rented and mobilized crowd from all over the federation at least we saw adverts on AIT saying all state governors in PDP ruled states are leading powerful delegation from their states add that to the Mr SUBSIDY FRAUD THIEF gullible followers then one can see how they filled the square juxtapose that with the only Abuja masses that an Ordinary Civilian could out of.his popularity and goodwill he enjoys bring to same Eagle.Square.

What is in JonaTAN to scare any opposition? An inept and useless president that was scared to even buy nomination form for himself since he knew he doesn't deserve a 2nd but was hoping the sham and 419 ceasefire and release of chibok girls could buy him some respite and PR opportunity. He himself knows he is a dundee and an insult to the word PRESIDENT and need to chicken out of that seat.

Why doe this Metuh always speak as if he is from Mars and drunk? Firstly, Jonathan's "declaration" was a foregone conclusion that did not surprise anyone. Secondly, Metuh is not deaf or blind. He would have noted the underwhelming response worldwide to Jonathan's declaration to understand that his boss has lost goodwill and 'traction home and abroad.

Balanced observer worldwide agree that Nigeria is drifting badly and they completely understand that it is pointless to seek nothing other than the dismissal of a President who has shown conclusively, over 5 years, that he brings far more problems than solutions. Metuh has to confront this reality yet he is a man consumed by the largesse he is enjoying courtesy of the current Government he serves. He must then defend that government by continuing to fool GEJ into thinking Mr.President is "feared" and popular when the reality is ridiculously different. Metuh's pathetic attempt at rudimentary spin just mirrors the sycophantic immorality and brazen dishonesty afflicting Nigerian politics today.

Big confusion. They are even more confused on who to adopt to fly the party's ticket and have resorted into cheap propaganda of rented crowds.

It became glaring that they've been feeding us with lies since they cant challenge GEJ's 'catalogue of unprecedented verifiable achievements'.

We have become wiser.

Dear President Jonathan,
I have watched you in the last one year jump from pillar to post under the pretext of governance; clinging to the inconsequential and deliberately ignoring that which the times demand of governance in today’s Nigeria. From the moment you were sworn in as an elected president, it’s been a galore of gaffes and conscious distraction of Nigerians from the things that actually do matter to them.

Within weeks of your presidency, your first executive move was to amend the constitution so as to allow for president and governors to serve just one term of six years in office. Not sooner than the dust raised by that move settled, you declared an economic war on the Nigerian people with an imposition of fuel tax, called fuel subsidy removal, which was just a way designed for you to avoid confronting your friends and officials who defrauded the country you preside over.

Mr President, you may recall that October 2 years ago, during a church service to commemorate Nigeria’s Independence Day, you lamented that we condemn you at home while Obama commends you abroad. Even then, we argued that Obama’s commendation of you – whatever it was meant to achieve – was ill-timed and ill- informed. We reasoned that we were the ones who elected you our president and so were best qualified to assess your performance in office. Today, the table has turned. Does Obama still commend you? Just in case you haven’t heard, the United States government has seen you for whom you are – a president who presides over a criminal empire without making any meaningful efforts to curtail corruption.

Before you dismiss my message as another baseless rant from a disgruntled opposition member, well, you are wrong sir as I voted for you in the last elections without compromising.

I will go straight again to your last year's Democracy Day speech. As expected, it could not boast of any visible achievement other than economic indices and statistics that were quite divorced from the stark realities on ground. You showed an amazing excitement when you announced your administration’s empowerment of 1200 youths who benefitted from your Youth Enterprise with Innovative Programme, YouWin. I was surprised that such was considered an achievement by you Sir let alone being included in your anniversary speech. Mr President, may I humbly inform you that 70 per cent of the Nigerian population is comprised of people who are thirty five years and below? Each year, Sir, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) churns out at least 100 thousand young Nigerians who throng into the labour market in search of nonexistent jobs. This is in spite of the fact that a larger percentage of those who passed out before them may not have gotten jobs. So why should we be excited about 1200 people in a population of 170 million? Is it a deliberate celebration of mediocrity or just an attempt to appear serious with the job we elected you to do?

In reference to electricity supply, you said, “By mid-2010, the national power output was about 2, 800 MW. By the end of 2011, we reached a peak of more than 4, 000 MW. A National Gas Emergency Plan has also been launched to redress the problem of gas supply which are essentially due to poor planning.”

Curiously, you didn’t tell us where we were by end of May, or mid-May this year, the period you were reeling out the your achievements. So I ask now, Mr President, where are we on power generation? How many megawatts have we achieved between 2011 and mid-May, 2014?

Where we are on electricity generation, Mr President, is on the region of total darkness. The wattage is negligible. Nauseating sound of generators still buzz in my neighbourhood daily, and darkness is the light in the villages where poverty even bites harder. That must be why you jumped it.

The efforts you put in advertising your cassava bread, if not tragic, would have been funny. You cannot re-write history Sir, Cassava bread is not novel. grin Your constant efforts to lay claim to it as your achievement in office is worrisome. For the records, on 1st July, 2005, Obasanjo’s government made it mandatory for bakers to include 10% of cassava flour in the production of bread. I followed that administration closely. Yet even at that ,you cannot force people to eat what they do not want. Telling us you eat it makes no difference in our lives. Our billions are stolen by the day, anyway; and you watch without taking any punitive action against the criminals.

Your penchant for majoring in minor, if not entirely irrelevant issues, should worry every sound mind. Your change of my school, Unilag to MKO Abiola University just by a.presidential fiat betrayed your love for vanity; your lack of appreciation for substance. And as expected, it stirred up eruptions in the school. Yet rather than quickly reconsider your stand, you declared to many who think you made another gaffe; “no going back”. I know political expediency informed that decision. But unfortunately, that was politically incorrect.
It has boomeranged, and will not shield you from the harsh verdict of your critics, which is that your years in office as president was a total failure.

It was a shock to me that you ended your speech without making any mention of the fuel subsidy scam – the biggest in Nigeria’s history. You said nothing about your plans to prosecute the offenders meanwhile you're wallowing with them in the fraud. If that is not weighty enough to cause you to act, I wonder what will. Should I mention the abducted girls? Should I mention the porous security? I dont need to bother sir.

You could see, Mr President, that I didn’t have time to pretend about the message I wanted to pass across. You already have enough praise singers to last you a lifetime. Pardon my directness, it was meant to deliver the message in a manner you will be stirred to act.

Do have a great day, Sir. I hope the domestic staff will remember to not prepare imported rice for this your occasion. Kindly remind them of your “resolve to always eat local rice”. Today should be for Abakaliki or Ofada.

And lest I forget; happy declaration Mr President!

Williams.

Frankly speaking, Jonathan has really tried. All the problems he faced was as a result of the negligence of our past leaders. ASUU, from Obj tenure, making unfulfillable promises, Privatisation of Nepa unachievable for 8yrs, only the name changed, Boko aram started from Obj tenure, he couldn't wipe them out, he only pampered them till they blew out beyond control. Incessant increase in import duty without a complementing increase in local production, thank God that we are seeing now.

First, as the writer rightly observed, its the ranting of a disgruntled opposition. What proof has he that he voted for GEJ? He seems so much confused because from his writeup he is neither for subsidy removal or sustenance... He's just grappling with chaff...Better put, this write up qualifies as the "will" of dying confused ape. What has changed about GEJ between then and now? I challenge you to present your candidate's blueprint for development of Nigeria let's compare and contrast...More so, I challenge you to based on GEJ scorecard judge if he's loved or not....

Bro, kindly educate yourself. Metu is a party official and not a government official. He can only be answerable to GEJ to the extent of his being a nigerian citizen. Why not give all my questions equal attention. I am still challenging you to show me a blueprint of your candidate's development agenda for Nigeria. Or is it a trial and error government as is practiced in Imo today? And does that crowd at GEJ's declaration connote a man not loved by his own?

First, as the writer rightly observed, its the ranting of a disgruntled opposition. What proof has he that he voted for GEJ? He seems so much confused because from his writeup he is neither for subsidy removal or sustenance... He's just grappling with chaff...Better put, this write up qualifies as the "will" of dying confused ape. What has changed about GEJ between then and now? I challenge you to present your candidate's blueprint for development of Nigeria let's compare and contrast...More so, I challenge you to based on GEJ scorecard judge if he's loved or not....
Bros! you are simply in denial or you hate the truth. There are many folks who voted in gej and have lived to regret it. All this TV achievements don't fool everyone. The truth is no objective and right thinking person would score gej's admin above 20%. The man isn't fit to be president. I said this bfor 2011 elections and am saying this again. Good luck ebele Jonathan isn't fit to be president and commander in chief of the federal rep. of Nigeria.

Keep telling yourself this lie: "Metu is a PDP official that is not answerable to Jonathan, who is the leader of PDP" - You may soon start believing that falsehood for real.

If you can lie on a very tiny fact everyone knows like this one, who knows what other bigger Evil you lie about just to get Jonathan reelected. May God save your soul before it is too late.

Keep spinning, you will soon drill a borehole where you stand. Have you seen you cannot point out one major problem, Jonathan has completely eliminated.

Bro, do you know about agricultural revolution? Championed through e-wallet system? have you checked our food import cost? have you seen fertilizer distribution policy? do you know about our new auto policy? do you see the magic in our rebased economy? have you checked our cement industry and its attendant multiplier effects? Have you checked our FDI portfolio recently? Did you notice that my age are seeing moving train for the first time in Nigeria? I travelled home last time and couldn't imagine the smoothness of the federal road to my state....do you need more? Show me your candidate's blueprint for a better Nigeria ........GEJ is doing it damn good bro....
