The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has urged Igbo across the state to push the All Progressives Congress ‘into the lagoon’ by voting for him on Saturday. Agbaje said this while addressing Igbo traders at the Alaba International Market on Thursday. The PDP candidate urged them to ignore the threats made by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, that if they do not vote for the APC governorship candidate on Saturday, they would die in the lagoon. “Nobody can push you into the Atlantic Ocean. Rather, you should use your votes to push the APC into the Atlantic Ocean by voting massively for the PDP on Saturday,” Agbaje said. He urged the people to ignore the scare tactics being marshalled by the APC, saying, it was the antics of a drowning party. Agbaje said, “Election is like a snake. You have to make sure you win by killing the snake completely by using your votes to drive the APC out of power. The reason why they are harassing you is because they fear Igbo votes. They will try to do ‘shakara’ for you but you must vote massively for the PDP and protect your votes.” Agbaje, who was accompanied by his running mate, Alhaja Safuratu Abdulkarim; and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, said the APC had become arrogant because the party had been in power for too long. He said, “In the last 16 years, the APC has been full of arrogance. This arrogance must end once and for all. Saturday is the time to say enough is enough." Counselling the audience to eschew violence and refuse to be intimidated at the polling venue, Agbaje urged them to guard their votes. He said, “God is on our side and power will change hands on Saturday and life will be better for you and your businesses. The Oba of Lagos has really done a good job for Jimi Agbaje. Note that while the Oba was making the alleged anti - Igbo statements, the Igbo leaders who visited the Oba were applauding him in the video and that should tell us that there is more to it. If I am correct, till now, none of the Igbo leaders who visited the Oba has come out to criticise or clarify what Oba really meant. Remember that this same Oba is related to Jimi Agbaje. Besides, after so much pleas from the APC Lagos and National leaders to enable this Oba to endorse Buhari's presidential candidacy during the presidential campaign, he (the Oba) stubbornly refused to endorse. Since the day the race started, I started to pay attention to the two candidates. Because I totally knew that the two parties are not the best we have. They both have their flaws. Ever since then, only one person has impressed me. The only one person seems to understand what governance is about. Only one person seems to understand the pain of the average Lagosian on the streets. Only one person seems to understand the pain of the medical doctors. Being a respectable Pharmacist himself. Only one person seems to understand the pain of the market women. Only one person seems to understand the pain of the LASU students. Only one person seems to understand the pain of the tax payers. My aunt paid 8.6 million as tax last year. Her stock isn't up to 10 million. She was crying when she told my mom. I just overheard the conversation and smh. Lagos is the 137 over 141. The 4th worst state to get a land and build in Africa. Only one person seems to have a plan to reduce that burden and sustain our economic development. Only one person is able to speak up for himself. I've not seen Bode George (who just a PDP chieftain anyways) on the campaign train for Agbaje. He does the talking himself. Not pushed around by Fashola and Jagaban. Only one person chose his Deputy. I'll join APC the day that happens. Only one person invited Omojuwa (an APC supporter) to anchor his interview session. That day the whole PDP came on his neck, he didn't bulge. That tells you he'll choose his commissioners without Tinubu having to force anyone on him. Only one person has a plan to install a light rail system. Only one person has plans to stop Alpha beta. The Tinubu owned company that collects 1 billion out every 10 billion that Lagos State makes. Do your research, thank me later. Only one person has been involved in activism in politics. He was a part of the concerned professional group that comprised Oby Ezekwesili, Pat Utomi and Co. During the annulment of the election in 1993. Only one person has the true interest of the people since 1993. Not the accountant that'll continue cooking the books of Lagos for his master. Only one person is a true Lagosian. A true son of the soil. I watched his biography on YouTube this morning.
