Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State yesterday arrived in Jalingo, the state capital, after returning from further medical check-up in London.
Our correspondent gathered that Suntai, who came in a chartered flight from Abuja, was driven in a motorcade to the Government House at about 6.30pm amidst tight security.
The arrival of Suntai took many people in the state unawares as there was no prior information on it.
Although, Suntai’s Chief Press Secretary, Hassan Mijinyawa, had in an earlier press release informed newsmen about his arrival in Abuja on Monday, he was silent on when he would return to Jalingo.
“Governor Suntai remains grateful to the people of Taraba State for their strength of will and continuous prayers for him and the state,” Hassan had said in the statement.
Hassan could not be reached last night to speak on Suntai’s arrival in the state capital. But he later emailed Daily Trust photos of the governor at the airport.
The governor arrived Jalingo when the acting governor Garba Umar was away in Abuja.
Spokesman for the acting governor, Aaron Artimas, told Daily Trust that he was aware Suntai’s had arrived. He said the state government has been off-setting his medical bills.

suntai represent a power bloc in taraba state pdp and the deputy too represents another. What is at stake now is the pdp governorship ticket of that state . If suntai doesn't appear in public then his power bloc will lose relevance and also the governorship ticket as well as all other tickets at stake including senatorial,federal and state house of reps and board parastatals. So what u are looking at is bigger than suntai .

bros in the game of politics there is nothing like permanent friends ,it is all about political and power interests.that is why politicians defect to any party they know will further their interest irrespective of whatever conflict they might have had in the past. Eg oyinlola defecting to apc and supporting aregbesola . And fayose moving back to pdp from apc,despite the fact that he helped apc to win against pdp.

yar adua case is somehow different from this although similar in some ways . suntai is still alive but the deputy is acting in his place ,they are both members of pdp, the pdp state congress is coming up very soon, suntai camp needs to make a statement that they still call the shots and that they are the ones to be given the governorship ticket , the deputy too has tasted power and he too will have his own followers who will be urging him to give it a shot . whichever camp wins will get the party ticket , what will eventually happen is that , both camps will be called to a meeting and there will be negotiations and a compromised will be reached on how to share the tickets and party slots .but until that happens,both camps will be flexing their muscles and political strength

that an average taraba person does not want a muslim as his governor pure and simple.
Acting governor Umar Garba is a muslim while Suntai is a christian.TY Danjuma is on the side of Suntai.
The taraba person says if a christian cannot rule Bauchi or Kano,then why should a muslim rule a state like
Taraba dominated by Christians?
Same with Adamawa.If Adamawa must produce a christian governor,then his deputy must be muslim.Nyako's former deputy Ngiliari,a christian
is the governor of Adamawa now.But Taraba has more christian population than Adamawa.The only exception are Benue and plateau where the governor and his deputy are christians and

I totally understand and i agree, but his condition isn't extremely hopeless to make input no matter how small. But we have deputy who is more power hungry than the health of the actual governor. Politics with interest is played with wisdom, but the raw show of strength by the ingrate deputy amidst personal interest is my concern.
