Is Vice President Nnamadi Sambo a liability to
President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration? A
group under the aegis of Civil Obligations and
Sustainable Peace says NO.

The group said this in reaction to a statement by
the former ADC to General Muhammadu Buhari,
Maj. Mustafa Jokolo (Rtd), who said the Vice
President was a liability.

Chairman of the Civil Obligations and Sustainable
Peace (INTROCOSUP), Daniel Nkpanam, and his
secretary, Danjuma Bello Sarki, who both
addressed journalists yesterday, said Sambo is not
a liability to the Jonathan government, but rather a
veritable asset.

“We wouldn’t have reacted to Jokolo’s ranting but
for the fact that it is coming at a time when
elections are around the corner, this apparently
shows that he is doing the bidding of his
paymasters, who are bent on causing confusion
and disharmony in our nation.

“The President and his vice have been enjoying a
cordial working relationship since the inception of
their administration, which is no doubt second to
none since the advent of the current democratic
dispensation,” the group said.

According to the group, Jonathan and Sambo have
enjoyed a sound working relationship, which has
translated into the successes of the
administration’s transformation agenda.

“It is no longer news that all assignments assigned
to the Vice President by the President are being
discharged effectively. This is evident in the
achievements of the committee he chaired, which
gave birth to SURE-P, that is today greatly
empowering our teeming youths, providing
remarkable infrastructure and drastically reducing
unemployment in our nation,” the group noted.

Jokolo, the deposed Emir of Gwandu, had last
month said that it would be a political suicide for
President Goodluck Jonathan to pick Sambo as his
running mate in the next presidential poll slated for
2015, referring to him as a political liability. The
comment had since drew the ire of many norther
leaders and groups across the country, who have
slated the retired soldier for making such
unguarded comment.
