President Goodluck Jonathan's request for an extension of the state of emergency in three northeast Nigerian states has been turned down by the Federal House of Representatives.

The rejection was ratified at a special session convened by the Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal following the request by President Jonathan.Spokesman of the House, Zakari Mohammed said the decision that was made at made at an executive session however advised the President to explore his constitutional powers to deploy the military to any troubled spots in the country.
Mohammed said the lawmakers were of the opinion that the three previous extensions have not achieved the desired success.

one would have thought that, on the contrary, the failure of the extension to achieve desired result is all the more reason why the army should remain, under a new extension, until the desired result is achieved. Isn't this mater of Emergency law rather like granting the police extra powers to reduce extraordinary precedence of lawlessness in a given situation. If the police should fail, the response is to draft in the Army -therefore in the advent of failure more force is called. How is it then, that the response to the failure, presently, in reducing violence in the NE is the avocation of a reduction of force ?

Without the state of emergency, he can restore order by using military against boko haram.
The main problem is that goofluck has no will to tame boko haram.
