realnas: Thanks for your idea. The Sudan idea should be employed here, Nigeria should arm and fund rebel groups in Chad and that will send a message to France and Chad. France extracts Uranium and Oil from Chad and Niger, those Tuareg rebel groups are still active and will threaten Chad like Sudan did and make them to stop supporting BH. I worked for Sudan rebel group JEM in Nigeria during the Peace negotiations in Abuja and I know the support from Debby that they got. We should aim to control what happens in our neighbouring countries, this is why Russia has ensured that the West will not takeover Ukraine; they west are destructive. 1 Like |

thegoodone2:I dont beleive, if true, then we should be preparing for 3rd world war. It only means face of Chad but hands of France. None of those West African Franco-phones are fully independent. The same thing France did through Cameroon to take bakassi. Lagos should watch out for Benin too in future .. 3 Likes |

bright007: You don't seem to know Africa but you know France ? The French know Borno very well because they suffered series of defeats in the hands of Borno empire and Rabeh Az Zubair between 1884 - 1891. Rabeh so hated the French invaders that any African kingdom that made peace with the French became his enemy and he taught all.in 1891 he captured and killed the French Colonialist/Explorer Paul Campbell. While you were in France you should have asked about Borno, they know it very well. 3 Likes |

chemali:Nigerians are funny. The backwardness and underdevelopment is astonishing and nauseating. While their mates are carrying out covert operations, espionage and listening in on their neighbouring Government's convos to determine their next moves, the Nigerian Govt is still operating on Suspicions and unprovable accusations. What a damn shame. |

I have always said this Boko Haram menace is bigger that we ever imagined. Chad republic is an ally of both the US and France. France has been known to have designs on African resources. France backed Cameroon during the Bakassi Saga. The oil from the Chadian side of lake chad and northern Cameroon flows through Cameronian ports and mostly operated by French companies. Secondly, during the #bringbackourgirls protests all major western democracy promised to send in troops and intelligence officers to track the missing girls and several months later we haven't heard any news of breakthrough. My only disappointment is Nigerians have allowed this Boko Haram menace to tear us apart. Instead of closing ranks and unilaterally look for solutions our politicians have made it an election campaign topic. When terrorists attacked WTC Americans from all walks of life came together to face the common enemy. However, this does not absolve the military and their civilian overlords of blame. Nigeria as a country is too big for a country like Chad or Cameroon or even France to mess with. Within west Africa we should be supreme. Teach these guys a lesson that the next person that will try to mess with us will think twice. That's the only way to maintain your territorial integrity and independence. 3 Likes |

OrlandoOwoh:The govt knew about Chad's involvement since Musa Yar Adua era, Nigeria has been secretly assisting Chad with billions of dollars to support her economy since Buhari regime. When president Musa Yar Adua came, he decided to stop this undue foreign aid to Chad what he discribed then in the security and intelligence circle as a ransome towards the nigeria nation. My worries is that Obasano who supported this scheme during his administration also advice GEJ to carry on for the sake of peace to reign between the two countries. The same way general Obasanjo gave Bakassi to Cameroun during its administration just because France gave Nigeria an option to support our new democratic govt and help in renogotiating our external debt in the year 2000. Gej is not only fighting against boko haram insurgency but, also some of nigeria elder statemen who also is giving the BH sponsors the moral right that they are fighting a just war. |

ISpiksDaTroof: Yes I did. Do you know that in 2004 President Obasanjo and the AU had a peace and conflict resolution negotiations in Abuja that lasted for some months to resolve the conflict in Sudan and Darfur?. Do you also know that a Secretariat was set up for that negotiation and had Nigerians deployed to work with the various warring parties providing administrative and logistic functions? I was one of those Nigerians who worked assiduously in Abuja for the success of that negotiation efforts which failed because at the end the warring parties in Sudan could not agree on some issues. It was painful seeing the destruction of Darfur from pictures being received and circulated at the negotiations by the rebels, I also got to know the sources of their funding and weapons and the help they received from Debby and Gaddafi who hated President Albashir who was also a tyrant. I helped JEM team to prepare their documents, proof read in English etc. Now what makes me a liar? |

Idrismusty97:. MY broda get ur facts right before u open ur mouth. Forget figures and percentages, d 6% Nigeria spends is lyk a pinch of salt compared 2 USA. D question is what is Americas GDP? And what is 4.4% of it? What is Nigerias GDP? And what is 6% of it? America spends $400-600billion on defence alone annually, dat is Nigerias total budget 4 5years @least. Nigeria spends less dan $7billion on defence annually. So dem b mate? Critisize wisely abeg. Don't b clouded wit. Ur hate 4 Jonathan. |

wilsondave:Bro, sorry to say this, but I must admit that you're living in a fool's paradise. The African Union? You mean the powerless African Union that is torn apart by the rivalry between SA and Nigeria? Let's tell ourselves the basic truth here, even the United Nations will not do anything about it! Why? France is a major backer of Deby's regime in Chad. The oil that flows on the Lake Chad Basin is not unconnected to French business interests, in its constant effort to undermine Nigeria's influence in Africa. Even if Deby's regime is toppled by internal violence and the so.nof.a.bi..tch is tried at the Hague, I don't see the trial going anywhere because France would do all it takes to acquit him. I've said this before and I'll say it again: All Nigeria needs is a stubborn leader who can stand up to the West without batting an eyelid (Like Murtala Muhammed) and a brash and abbrassive minister of foreign affairs who fear no foe. I wish GEJ appointed Prof. Viola Onwuliri in that position, instead of the lazy Aminu Wali. |

gabeezugo:Mr man i am speaking about Chad not Nigeria. This isn't about the money they spend but how much is left for domestic use. The US are freaking rich! They make about $3trn annually and spend $600bn on defence. How much is left of the money? Do the maths! More than enough money is still left for other uses. Compare that with Chad a poor country spending 6% of its GDP on the military. How much would be left for building roads, infrastructures, schools, factories? How much is left importation? Look, It is normal for a wealthy country like the US and China to spend more on the military after all they still have more than enough left for themselves. In reality North Korea even spend more than the US. They have the highest defense budget in the world! A third of their income is spent on military....A whopping 25%! That means their citizens would be heavily taxed and impoverished just to make enough money for defence. Can you compared that with China or the US? That is why economist derived the term Military expenditure (% of GDP)…The real measure of military spending! |
