The problem is that most Nigerians, especially the so called educated are still warped in the old military mindset, where a dissenting voice is viewed or treatment as an enemy and not as an opponent.
But what the gullible and oppressed Nigerians fail realise is that these political elite are friends behind the scene.

In moments of crisis the physical appearance of the president speaks much about the energy and time he spend to find solutions to teething problems facing his regime. The Nigeria of today is faced with myriads of problems chief among which is the BH insurgency. If it were only this challenge that we have we would have been better placed to tackle it. But then there are other security challenges like kidnapping, armed robbery, political killings, general lawlessness, as well as economic downturn, persistent decay of infrastructure, religious intolerance, tribal bigotry and political gangsterism. These ills, one might say, and fairly so, have been there before now but what one cannot deny is their present frightening level. They are enough challenges for a serious minded regime. Unfortunately, we have gone further to deliberatly create bigger monsters especially at the federal level. Firstly, is the shift by the FG to rule rather than to lead. I see Aso rock as the seat of the FGN (and not a seat of the PDP) whose occupant should uphold all and not some of the provisions of the constitution at all times. We expect to be treated equally and fairly by the presidency irrespective of our religious, political or tribal differences. He is our president not PDP's. But the presidency seems to be more concern with rambling with the opposition parties and waging ethno religious campaign than providing true leadership. You cannot lead when you do not deal your opponent a fair hand. Leadership includes taking shit and even bullet. A leader cares less about praise singers but more about his critics.
Also of great concern is the president's re-classification of corruption. Much has been said about this. The fallout of this new 'policy' is the deafening inaction that we now see amongst the various anti corruption agencies.
I ask: can the president be investigated for any crime in this country? NO! Yet Jacob Zuma is under investigation by the police in SA. Can the police lock out paliamentarians in SA. NO! A saner clime. Why can't we copy, paste and follow the good we see in others. Rather we tend to revel in the absurd.
I get irritated whenever I read comments of those praising the president's handsome fresh facial looks. It is a tell tale sign of lack of serious brainstorming. Looking fresh and handsome is a luxury in stressful times. Re-evaluate the features ot IBB during June 12 saga, Ngige as a governor, Obasanjo during his impeachment saga, Uduaghan when he lost at the court, George Bush during Iraq war, Bill Clinton during Monicagate, the presidents of the countries affected by the orange revolution, and of course, the Syrian president. What you will see are features of leaders in battle.
The same opposition that is being maligned today championed the implementation of the "doctrine of necessity'. Many of those in GEJ kitchen cabinet today professing unconditional love for him overtly or covertly oppossed his being sworn in as President. Or has the administration forgotten that the opposition party is part of the foundation that GEJ election was based. Many of those parading Aso rock as the MC of the president didn't support him.
To whom much is given much is expected. The presidency has been brought to disrepute by the odious press releases emanating from there. Why would president's aides insult elder statement, past presidents/heads of state, world acclaimed lettered men, state governors, legislators etc. What do u expect in return. A salute?
Bottom line: the presidency should act presidential.
