R&B singer, Banky W has reacted to the notion that Muslim-Muslim ticket for a presidential candidate and his Vice would not fly in Nigeria. According to the singer, it doesn’t really matter what religion a leader belongs so long as he does the needful. He also stressed that his choice was Fashola as Buhari’s running mate since it does not matter whether the Lagos state Governor was a Christian or Muslim, since he knows his onions.

Banky W who took to twitter some moments ago said, “It should be Fashola….I don’t care about my leader’s tribe, religion, or whatever jargon they keep feeding us.,Zoning. Religion-ing. It’s all crap…Some of my mentors, clients, business partners, colleagues are from different tribes and religions than mine. What difference does it make? I don’t choose who to do business with based on if they’re from my village. I don’t choose who to associate with based on their religion. Who cares if Fashola is a muslim? Didn’t we vote him
into power in Lagos? Did the fact that he’s muslim affect the way he leads the state?”

Citing the late M.K.O Abiola as an example, he said “Tribe… Religion… these are just tools people use to divide us. And then we wonder why we’re in the same position decades later. Abiola won the election (in a LAND SLIDE) on a muslim-muslim ticket. Wasn’t that the same country? It didn’t matter then. Why does it now? They brainwash us into thinking these things matter… and then we wonder why we’re still here facing the same problems as a nation. May God save Nigeria.” He quipped.

The All Progressive Party’s presidential candidate, Buhari is expected to announce his running mate today.
Those in contention for the post are: Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Governors Rotimi Amaechi, Adams Oshiomole and Babatunde Fashola.
However, there are high indications that it won’t be governor Fashola of Lagos state due to his Islamic background.
