President Jonathan Not funding Boko Haram - Yakasai by Omooba77: 6:18am On Dec 18, 2014
Contrary to insinuations in some quarters that the present administration is funding the outlawed Boko Haram sect terrorising some parts of the North, chairman, Northern Elders’ Council (NEC),  Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, has denied the allegation.

Making the assertion on Wednesday during the media presentation of the president as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Lagos, the elder statesman said the President Jonathan-led administration was not funding insurgency in the North.

He also disagreed with those who hold the opinion that the terror group was raised to distract the administration.

“That the Boko Haram was created to frustrate Jonathan’s administration and that his administration was sponsoring Boko Haram, both impressions are wrong.

“Boko Haram came to the Nigerian scene way back in 2002. This was during President Obasanjo’s first term in office. That was the time Boko Haram started.

“The federal government has nothing to do with Boko Haram and no government will encourage insurgency against itself.

“Anyone who is saying that Boko Haram was created to destabilise Jonathan or is being sponsored by Jonathan is erroneous and wrong,” Yakasai maintained.

Also expressing similar views, Senior Special Adviser to President Jonathan on Media, Dr. Doyin Okupe who enumerated a number of the achievements of the present administration stressed that the insurgency in the North would not qualify as a yardstick to measure the achievements of government.

According to him, though the Boko Haram war, which he said is not a conventional warfare tactics, did not start with President Jonathan, government was not relenting in its effort to solve the problem in the best possible way.

“We are not animals. For people to think those in government are callous, it is not good. We are in a war situation and in war anything happens. But don’t make it look like it is government that is sponsoring it, it is not good. We are not animals in government and people should stop tormenting u,” he said.

Referring to the issue of the abducted Chibok school girls, Okupe who expressed regrets about the plights of the missing girls and their parents, noting that government was working to make sure that they are re-united with their families alive.

“I know what it means when ones relation is missing but it is better if we get these girls back alive under any circumstances – even if it needs to address some issues they may have, but we don’t want to bring body bags. Our people must be reasonable,” he urged.

While noting that government is equipping the military to adequately confront and over power the insurgency, Okupe who underscored the successes being recorded by the military against the terror group assured the people that the country is multilateral collaborations to cut the group off of finance and win the terror war.

During his opening remarks, chairman of the occasion and Second Republic Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the federation, Chief Richard Akinjide (SAN), stated that President Jonathan would win the 2015 presidential election.

He said: “We are assembled here today to launch President Goodluck Jonathan, who is definitely going to be the president of Nigeria. I have toured the whole country, after a fair assessment, I can boldly say that our candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan will be the next president of the country.
“I am going to make a prediction and that prediction is definitely going to come to pass. That prediction is We will win,” he said assuredly.

The well attended event attracted notable PDP members among who were former Deputy National Chairman (South) of the PDP, Chief Olabode George; Senator Fola Bajomo, Senator Ayo Arise, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, Chief Jubril Martin-Kuye,  Teru Olateru-Olagbegi, Mr. Bisi Omoyemi, Lagos State PDP governorship candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje and others.

Only fools will for one second consider that Jonathan is behind Boko Haram?

What does he stand to gain? Why will the head burn down his own house?

The opposition, the caliphate and northern oligarch composed of past military heads and powerful business men are behind boko haram

Only a fool will think otherwise
