Lamido Backs Buhari For Preaching Against Politics Of Religion

Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State yesterday threw his weight behind the recent statement credited to All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate General Muhammad Buhari condemning politics of religion in Nigeria.

Lamido stated that, promoting the parochial sentiment of religious politics is unethical and dangerous to the existence of Nigeria as a single entity.

The governor stated this while speaking to newsmen shortly after a stakeholders meeting of the state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said in some years back many unscrupulous and selfish persons in Nigeria had tried to divide the country along ethnic and religious line in a desperate move to pursue their agenda, but God saved the country.

Lamido maintained that, those who use religious sentiment to coarse, intimidate, and force people to accept their political agenda would continue to fail and be exposed to shame as every good Nigerian has understood them.

According to Lamido the Hausa word “Isgilanci” which means a high level of immoral and total disgrace, used by General Buhari in condemning the advocates of religious politics is a good message and a welcome development in the nation’s politics.
