Most pharmaceutical drugs went through clinical trials and were later declared cure.

He/she is talking about CLINICAL trials. This takes several years and several subjects/people who have agreed to be used for trials. To determine effects of the drugs if it truly works, possible side effects etc. Really extensive and expensive process but worth it for the sake of posterity.
