PRESIDENTIAL BATTLE - President Goodluck Jonathan versus General Muhammadu Buhari

Muhammadu Buhari (born 17 December 1942) is a Nigerian politician and a retired Major General in the Nigerian Army who ruled Nigeria from 31 December 1983 to 27 August 1985, after taking power in a military coup d’etat. The term Buharism is ascribed to the Buhari military government. He also ran unsuccessfully for the office of President in the 2003, 2007 and 2011 elections. In December 2014, he emerged as the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, for the 2015 elections. A native of Daura in Katsina State, Buhari is of the Fulani ethnic background, and his faith is Sunni Islam.

Prior to his role as President, he served as Governor of Bayelsa State from 2005 to 2007 and asVice-President of Nigeria from 2007 to 2010. Jonathan is a member of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Patience Faka Jonathan (born 25 October 1957) is the current First Lady of Nigeria and a permanent secretary in her nativeBayelsa State. She is married to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan. Born in Port Harcourt, she earned her school certificate in 1976, and passed the West African School Certificate Examination(WASCE) in 1980. In 1989, she obtained the National Certificate of Education (NCE) in Mathematics and Biology from the Rivers State College of Arts and Science, Port Harcourt. She then proceeded to the University of Port Harcourt and studied for a B.Ed in Biology and Psychology.

Aisha Buhari – In 1988, Buhari and his first wife Safinatu got divorced. In December 1989, Buhari got married to his second and current wife Aisha (née Halilu) Buhari. They also have five children together. One boy and four girls. They are Aisha, Halima, Yusuf, Zarah and Amina.

Oluyemi Oluleke Osinbajo was born on March 8, 1957 at Creek Hospital, Lagos. He is a professor of law, a member of Nigeria’s inner bar (a Senior Advocate of Nigeria being the equivalent of the United Kingdom’s Queen’s Counsel) He is married to Oludolapo Osinbajo and they have three children.

Olujimi Kolawole Agbaje (popularly known as Jimi Agbaje), born March 2, 1957, is a Nigerian Pharmacist, Politician and the Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 gubernatorial election. He was born on March 2, 1957 in Lagos State, Nigeria to late Chief Julius Kosebinu (Banker) and Mrs. Margaret Olabisi (teacher) Agbaje. He is the second born and first male child of five children (two female and two male siblings).




Akinwunmi Ambode (born June 14, 1963) is an accountant, an administrator and a public finance management expert. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Brandsmiths Consulting Limited – a firm that specializes in public sector finance management. Ambode was formerly the Accountant-General of Lagos State, Nigeria, and held many sensitive financial positions in the Lagos State government in a 27-year career in the Lagos State Civil Service. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management. He is the founder of La Roche Leadership Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on developing the next generation of leaders. He is married to Bolanle Patience Ambode (nee Odukomaiya) and they are blessed with children.
