It is noteworthy that since 2011, the Administration of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has been prudent with the issue of debt and borrowing. The Economic Management Team not only looks at debt to GDP ratio, where Nigeria has one of the lowest numbers in the world at 12.51 percent but it looks at debt service to revenues. That is why in spite of the rebasing and a larger GDP, the administration has taken a prudent approach to borrowing. The prudent approach helped to drive down domestic borrowing from N1.1 trillion in 2010 to N642 billion in 2014. In fact for the first time in our nation’s borrowing history we even managed to retire N75 billion of domestic bonds outright in 2013. Prudent- Wow,this woman think Nigerians are fools with more that 10 private jets bought,$10 billion subsidy scam, pension scam and oil theft with connivance with government. if you think Nigerians are sick,I'm not. We are improving infrastructure across the country. For example, 22 airport terminals are being refurbished, and five new international airport terminals under construction in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Kano, Abuja, and Enugu. Soludo’s kinsmen in the South East now have an international airport in Enugu, and for the first time in Nigeria’s history can fly direct from Enugu to anywhere in world for which they are very grateful to this Administration. Jallopy Airport- Wow This woman. Is that the same airports you see travelling thru world bank all your life,Does it look like modern day airports leaking and overtaken by floods In Agriculture, over 6 million farmers now have access to inputs like fertilizers and seeds through an e-wallet system, which is more than the 403,222 that had access in 2011. Rice paddy production took off for the first time in our history, adding about 7 million MT to rice supply. An additional 1.3 million MT of Cassava has also been produced and as a result, the rate of food price increase has slowed considerably, according to the NBS. Is there another country called Nigeria- I don't have to be an economist to know this is fraud and voodoo. I never get to a see the a seed of your rice and cassava bread not available as well in the market,I buy from local market in my neighborhood and mile 1. In Housing, we have put in place a new wholesale mortgage provider – the Nigerian Mortgage Refinance Corporation (NMRC) – to provide affordable mortgages to ordinary Nigerians, starting with those in the low-middle income bracket. This sector will help the economy grow as we tap it as an economic driver for the first time. Mortgage applications from 66,000 people are currently being processed and 23,000 have already received mortgage offersMadam, soludo was asking about surplus from our oil sales when it's booming, selling for like $140-$170 per barrels, not we have put in place or we will do. how many houses built in the last six years by this administration? Our Manufacturing sector is reviving with new automobile plants by Nissan, Toyota, etc. This is in addition to the backward integration policy in key sectors like petrochemical, sugar, textiles, agro processing and cement, which Nigeria is now producing 39,000 MT and exporting to the region. Liar- how can you export what you don't have or has not become acceptable /available in your country, aside cement by dangote which is private investment. CRAP ECONOMISTS, I DON'T JUST GET IT. FEBRUARY 14 IS AROUND THE CORNER,WE SHALL PROBE ALL YOUR THEORY AND FAILED PRACTICE 8 Likes |

Soludo was a visionary man, he was able to see and help construct the big picture for the Nigerian banking sector. Soludo treated the markets and banks like Greenspan. Believing bank executives would never do anything to undermine their shareholders and institutions. That was his mistake. I will and cannot put SLS above Soludo, that would be a crime against humanity. Sanusi caused more damage with his approach, shouting fire in a market place and totally destroying the confidence of the average Nigerian in the financial sector. We are still living with many of SLS collateral damages. That being said, Soludo messed up big time, with his article. When you challenge people's credibility, make sure the facts are on your side. Numbers like the poverty percentage from 2010, was just too easy to expose as fraud. Nevertheless, he has added to the public debate and some Nigerians have learnt something new about their country. GEJ till 2019. 6 Likes |

So this mor.o.n gave us the average oil production in barrels per day for 3 years under OBJ and two years under Goodluck (difference of approximately 200,000+ bpd) . Why didn't the dummy also give us the average price of crude oil per barrel within those periods? 2 Likes |

Udodasco1:"Contrary to what Soludo said, oil production under President Obasanjo was higher than current levels. Quantities produced averaged 2.4 million barrels per day, bpd; 2.22 million bpd, and 2.21 million bpd in 2005, 2006, and 2007 respectively, but has declined now to between 1.95 and 2.21 million bpd due to vandalism of the pipelines and the resulting “shut-ins” to fix the problem. It is true that had production been at the previous levels and had there been willingness to save, we would have had more money in the ECA and also in the reserves." lies from the pit of hell. Within the past few years Nigeria's oil production per barrel surpassed 2million barrels and also the price has remained at an all time high of over $100 per barrel within the past few years as against Obasanjo's average of $35 pb. The question remains what happened to the excess accrued to the Federal government within these yrs, yet its continued borrowing despite the oil boom? Is this what you call fact? |

tbaba1234: It's not an excuse rather a statement of fact.I hope you have not forgotten that this administration inaugurated the SOVEREIGN WEALTH FUND which the state governors led by the ever vocal ameachi went to court to stop. They also tried to shut down the Excess Crude Account (ECA), failing to do that out rightly the insisted upon shearing it to extinction. Please don't act like you do not remember those episodes of our national life. 1 Like |

If u re being hired always endeavor to use your initiatives before u run your mouth. |

This rebuttal to Soludo's hatchet job is timely, pithy, frank and conclusive. Of all the responses to the former CBN governor, this one got to the heart of the matter. I expected a response from NOI next week. But this response 48 hours after Soludo's critique of NOI's management of the economy, suggest to me that NOI was expecting this and had a response ready. Hopefully Soludo will get NOI's epic rebuttal and rethink his strategy. After all NOI was Soludo's boss, while the former was CBN governor. Soludo must resist any attempt to commit career suicide. It takes two .......... 1 Like |

It is only in Nigeria where someone who perpetrated such a colossal economic atrocity would have the temerity to make assertions on public debt and the management of the economy. The statement above includes all the politicians in apc and pdp. All the former and current looters are now giving Nigerians lectures on the economy they aided in ruining. Clowns. 2 Likes |

Iwaela is an overrated economist. She spews many words without making sense. She gave us the oil production under Obj and GEJ but refused to tell us how much was earned by both government. She kept attacking Soludo and blamed the Governors for the ECA sharing when she and her oga could not account for what they earned from ECA. She also forget to tell us that the same Governors pressured Obj and Yaradua to share the ECA monies, but GEJ obliged them to win support for his election in 2011. Iwaela forget to tell us about the $100 billion dollars oil earning that the British PM said was earned by Nigeria in 2012 Financial Year. Iwaela forget to tell us about the 12 billion Dollars that she admitted was missing in 2014. There are so many other salient issues she fraudulently skipped. Iwaela is a FRAUD 6 Likes |

What are all these talks about the Naira falling because of the fall in the price of crude oil? Oil sold far above the bench mark price between 2010 and mid 2014. The decline in price has not even lasted 12 months. We could have prepared for this. Why didn't they save for the rainy days? We would av been using our foreign reserves to defend the Naira if only those monkeys hadn't depleted it. 1 Like |

It is true that our foreign reserve accumulation is less than what it should be, but the reason for this has been fully given, not as excuses, but simply as fact: lower oil production and crude oil theft along with the refusal to save in the Excess Crude Account (ECA) are the reasons. Contrary to what Soludo said, oil production under President Obasanjo was higher than current levels. It is true that had production been at the previous levels and had there been willingness to save, we would have had more money in the ECA and also in the reserves. That's not an excuse jare... The truth is this administration has failed to curtail oil theft... Who's fault is it?? Definitely not Soludo s 1 Like |

I love the way Soludo avoided attacking the person of okonjo Iweala..but was able to prove his points with undeniable facts an figures. As for the special adviser...there's nothing special about his advises going by the thrash he just spewed here..SOLUDO's record of turning "pure water and recharge card " selling banks into power houses of African financial institutions will forever remain a milestone in the annals of banking sector...even the worldbank which for okonjo Iweala worked described it as a "miracle" Befor SOLUDO CAME one south african bank was worth more than all the banks in Nigeria..today its shoulder-to-shoulder. ..we are always in a hurry to forget history. 4 Likes |
