Nigerians are very interested to vote in this elections...in fact there has never been this level of enthusiasm to vote ....save for 1993 elections....

Only PDP after seeing the handwriting is unwilling to proceed with the election...but whether they want or not Nigerians will choose new set of elected leaders in 6 weeks time...

Hmmmn; and Nigerians are not interested in the debate.

You can be sure that Prof Atahiru Jega is on his way out of INEC. There is nothing this coward government of GEJ denied that they didn't do at last. They denied any move to postpone the FeBuhari 14 election, GEJ even said it clearly to Senator John Kerry when he came calling, what a shame on a president whose words means nothing to himself! Nevertheless, Prof Femi Mimiko cannot conduct the election, GEJ can nominate him but remember that whether on leave or not, Jega's term expires by June 30, so no other substantive Chairman can be sworn in before that date. An Acting Chairman who is usually the most senior official of INEC will take over and conduct the election. This was the case when Emefiele was nominated to replace Sanusi Lamido Sanusi when GEJ placed him on an illegal suspension last year. The most senior Deputy Governor, Dr Sarah Alade acted as CBN governor till Sanusi's term expired before Emefiele (aka Mr Butcher) came in to butcher what is left of our currency and economy. This time around, GEJ will fail woefully, head or tail, he will go back to Otuoke come May 29, 2015.

Why must you lie with passion? Are you related to Lai Mohammed? GEJ never discussed anything about election date with Senator Kerry, he promised Kerry that the handover date remained sacrosanct. Do not twist stories to suit your whims and caprices.

INEC rejected this claim.
PRESIDENCY rejected this claim.

Now, who are the blatant confusionists that either brought this up or have been promoting the false rumour?

PDP/Presidency/GEJ have all proved not trustworthy with the postponement of the election.

Two weeks to the election, the military said they were ready to provide security for the election. A week after, we all know how they forced Jega to announce a postponement.

two weeks to the election, the presidency said that elections will hold as scheduled and APC should desist from associating them with any plan to shift the election. About four days after, GEJ/PDP tabled the reasons why elections must be postponed to the Council of State for deliberations.

There are many more lies and denials from the sinking PDP/GEJ already. We can only appeal and beg them not to drag Nigeria into another civil war with their silly and senseless actions. If you forcefully remove Jega, expect that Nigerians will kick and no one knows how it will end.

GEJ should learn from history about Laurent Gbagbo and Samuel Doe. His online and offline supporters should also understand that they don't know how it will end for them should they encourage the failed president to do everything (even illegal) to hang on to power.

My advice to the clueless president at this critical time of his political career is to resign and save himself the impending embarrassment he will surely suffer very soon. If he goes for election, he shall surfer the worst defeat by any sitting president in history. If he results to subverting our democracy by using the military, he will eventually end miserably like those who tried before him but ended miserably too.

THE Presidency and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), have denied alleged plot to remove Prof Attahiru Jega, saying it is mischievous and unfounded.

A source in the Office of the National Security Adviser disclosed this yesterday in Abuja to reporters that “the rumoured sack of Jega is not from the Presidency but part of the propaganda by the opposition to soil the good name of the President, to discredit the government and cause trouble”.

The Presidency wondered why such rumour should gain ground when there is no corresponding letter from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) announcing the sack or with the knowledge of the Attorney-General(AG) of the Federation.

“Can such a decision be taken without AG knowing. Is that possible? Can this happen without any of such letter confirming it from the OSGF. If the opposition are sure let them tender such a letter from the SGF or produce such a letter from the Presidency”

He said it would be important if politicians take precautions in making such damaging utterance as such falsehood is capable of inciting violence and unnecessarily heat up the polity.

He said the constitution is well respected by the decision making process in the country and as well as in the discharge of duties, therefore it would be foolhardy for some people to assume that an official of government would be sacked or dislodged from his responsibilities for personal interest including the office of the Chairman of INEC or any official for that matter.

“The questions of leave or no leave, the laws are clear about it and the Government has nothing to do with that. The man has a job to do and please allow him to do the job without dragging the government into it and the man working under the rule of law”.

“This is the government that has been obeying the rule of law and is not going to abandon its adherence to it. Please they should allow Jega to do his work and stop heating up the polity. They should stop fanning the embers of trouble and inciting people into violence,” the source added.

Chief Press Secretary to INEC chairman, Kayode Idowu disclosed yesterday that rather than proceeding on a compulsory leave as it is been rumored, Jega is focused on using the extension of the 2015 polls to perfect the commission’s strategies to conduct what would be seen as the best election in the nation’s history.

He noted that the appointment of the INEC chairman was not under the Nigerian Civil Service Rules, stressing that even if his service would not be renewed by the Federal Government, he would serve out his tenure which he noted would elapse on June 30, 2015.

There has been reports that the INEC chairman would be asked to proceed on a compulsory leave on March 1, adding that the federal government has commenced the search for his replacement who would conduct the 2015 elections.

Idowu also disclosed that the ballot papers for Nigeria’s presidential election scheduled to hold on 28 March were ready, stressing that they have been in safe custody at the vault of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), waiting for deployments to the various states.

He also disclosed that thousands of ad hoc staff were being trained for the elections initially billed to take place on February 14 and 28 but shifted to March 28 and April 11.

If Jega is sacked today, nothing, I repeat nothing would happen, APC and the empty barrels cannot do jack about it. They will only blab and make noise. Didn't they threaten fire and brimstone against postponement? Was the election not postponed? If APC/Buhari and their jingoists (local or international) try anything funny, they will rot in prison.
