As someone who has spent extensive time handling vehicles equipped with both transmissions...i will stick with a manual .There is this satisfaction i derive from shifting close to the Redline on highways that only comes with a manual. A stick shift involves you in the whole experience. To be honest, it can be tiring to drive a vehicle with a heavy clutch in intense traffic gridlocks but that's a cross i am willing to bear.. I know a dual clutch automatic may be faster than a traditional manual transmission but i will still go for a manual either way. 1 Like |

A friend of mine said manual is outdated, there's no need of learning how to drive one but unfortunately for him a lady he was having crush for was giving a brand new manual picanto, she called my friend to drive the car home for her, that was how he embarrassed himself he Just couldn't move the car and had to call me Its better to learn manual as a fresher, 2 Likes |

I drive a Merc C Class Automatic transmission, with this car, I don't give up on the road, I trust my kick down, I will embarrass you with your .5million naira car , the car is balance and always give me confidence ..I know my car, I don't joke with it... I have dulled many drivers on the road... Driving requires , intelligence ,mind, confidence, and calculation... I just love driving.. i will say manual are just more rugged and are cheaper to maintain, also it is fun changing the gear yourself on the high way but a very stressful work in the hold up around the city traffic, give me any and i will drive it perfectly. |

The advent of automatic transmission was as a result of people with disabilities i.e people with one leg nd one hand so that they too can have the opportunity of driving cars. This later improved as Technological advancement came to play. As for me I can drive either nd even Auto has a way of downshifting, for those that know how to do it. All things being equal, so u don't have to necessarily allow d machine determine ur momentum. |

I enjoy driving manual more than auto. Auto most times make me feel like driving a toy but with manual I feel totally in charge and in control. 1 Like |

LOLZ From what i see on tv, the cars are driven via a controller with the driver selecting gears as he moves However the progression is automatic abatically: 1 Like |

platinumricky:Honestly i understand where u are coming from ..i used to drive a manual car before , but i accidently tried an automatic car since i have not turned back ..and i will not go back ...it was like i was free from slavery or bondage . most car manufacture are now designing dual gear box -i think its called triptronic gearbox where you can switch to the manual or automatic depending on the road conditions , i had it it in my toyota avensis 2003 . for a place like Nigeria , automatic gear box will be ideal ..because our commuter and local roads are just too bad . The only down side of an automatic gear box it takes more petrol and if it breakdown its hards to fix or report ..but saying that most manufacturere now giĀ“ve 10 years guarantee .. have u tried an automatic car before ? |

ogawisdom: Cars with manual transmission are great for me. I have driven long distances with a manual and automatic drive vehicles and believe, I enjoy the driving experience with the manual transmission. If you find driving a car with manual transmission too stressful for you, then you are yet to feel the driving experience. 1 Like |
