The Senate President, David Mark, has urged the federal government to immortalize the 11 women leaders in Bayelsa State, who died in an auto crash in Bayelsa on Saturday.
The women were members of the Bayelsa branch leaders of Women For Change, an organisation sponsored by the First Lady, Patience Jonathan,
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary to the state, Paul Mumeh, Mr. Mark said the women died serving the country and should be honoured to that effect.
The statement read, “The Senate President urged the government of Bayelsa state to immortalize the deceased for their unquantifiable contributions to the development of the state.
“Mr Mark in the condolence message, lamented that the women died in their prime at a time when their productive hands were needed to solve the socio-economic and political problems facing the nation. Mr Mark said the women died in their active services to the nation and should be accorded such honour.
He said the women paid the supreme prize and should be remembered as heroines of Bayelsa.”
Mr Mark also sympathized with President Goodluck Jonathan, the victims’ families, the government and people of Bayelsa state over the death of prominent women. He urged them to accept the incident in good fate.
The women died in a ghastly car crash on Ahoada axis of East-West road in Rivers State.
According to the Bayelsa Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Vincent Jack, nine persons were burnt to death, two died without burns, while many others who sustained injuries were rushed to Madonna clinic in the area.
Mr. Jack said the tyres of a Toyota Sienna ran into the bus that conveyed the women, causing the cars to burst into flames.
Some of the victims were listed by a former councilor in Ogbia Local Government Area, Gbaregolo Eseimokumo were Consider Amadi, a former women leader in Ogbia, Clara Abila, a grassroots politician, Immaculate Amasimua, former Commissioner at the Civil Service Commission in Bayelsa; and Elisabeth Oguru, wife of the Secretary to the State Government, Zimbra Goma, former Commissioner for Women Affairs, Ruby Benjamin, former House of Assembly member representing Brass Constituency 1 in Bayelsa.
A security official said all the women in the bus, but one, died and the survivor is receiving medical attention.
They were said to be in Rivers state for a solidarity visit to Patience Jonathan.

And what happens to the youths that lost their lives under a sham immigration recruitment exercise put together by your protege, Aba Moro

What about the soldiers that have given up their lives to ensure we live in peace??

I bet this is coming from the senator because Mama Peace is connected with the incident.

Mark failed me on this one big time.
