The book trilogy was stupid and freaky enough.. Not to talk of a movie adaptation.. Tufiakwa... |

UjSizzle:As in, you bought Book 1, then Book 2, then Book 3? What motivated you to move to the sequels when the first one was "bad"? Or did you buy them all in one day at the same time? Or did you just purchase them for research purposes, as in, to find out how much depraved we are as humans? Not trying to put you on blast but I find this post of yours contradictory. Just saying. 2 Likes |

OP, this one na your own point of view oooo, I read the books and I sure as hell am gonna watch the movie .... If your heart is too fickle to handle a little Sand M stuff, then kpele but don't twist the general message behind the tale! Anastasia was probably naive but she didn't do anything she didn't want to have done to her and as for Grey, he did love her.... In his very twisted way. He was never a normal person, he was damaged goods and anastacia stuck to him, she healed him. if you read books 2 and 3, you would know he was ready to take her however he could get her... If that wasn't love, I dnt know what is! 1 Like |

Timbuktou:I got all three at once like I always do when a story's a trilogy or has multiple parts (hate reading and waiting). I'm a bookie and when a book get too much publicity, a girl's tempted to see what it's about. Well, it wasn't worth it imo. In the author's defence though, I also know that every writer has a targeted audience, and I definitely wasn't the intended audience for this one. Maybe people with 'dark' fantasies will find it pleasurable *shrug* |

I don't think people understand what it means to sell a hundred million copies of a book in this day and age. Not forgetting that it was poorly written, as in, the grammar was atrocious, plot was wayward, charaterisation thoroughly rudimentary. This book should not have sold ten copies for its faults, but no, tens of millions of women saw past its literary failings and went on to procure and consume anyway. Now we get a clown trying to tell us the book isn't set in reality. It may be a fantasy but, that speaks about what reality people really want, doesn't it? If they could get it, they would go for it. And if it seemed like they could, they'd move heaven and earth to have that experience. A word should be enough.... 5 Likes |

UjSizzle:Makes sense, then. From what I hear, from totally reliable sources, it's sub-par literature. No need wasting time on it. *smile at not being part of her target audience. Did you give them out or sell them, perchance? |

When I discovered that the book was one of the best selling books, I downloaded it but couldn't finish reading it. Too much sickening scenes. Now the movie? |

Timbuktou:It IS sub-par literature. I tried to find something compelling about it and failed. But hey, sex sells Nah. My books are my babies; good or bad, they all stay. I have over-read, unread, and half-read books all over the place. But I also don't think I could give someone this book to read. 1 Like |

Am amazed people are just going "50 shades" now.....Have read the full trilogy book itself from 50 shades of Grey to 50 shades Freed.....Kini big deal. I just respect the fact that some people got weird sexual desires underneath the super loving....If you can handle it, have a blast.....If you can't, use the door and slam it behind you. In between Anastasia Steele knew Christian Grey was a broken man and fixing him was the drive. I give the book for free.....If you haven't gone through the trilogy please don't cry wolf. 1 Like |

Re: A Letter To My Children About Fifty Shades Of Grey by Nobody: 8:59am On Feb 19, 2015 |
UjSizzle:Thanks for confirming that. Though, I'm not particularly convinced it's about sex selling as much as the book having the opportunity to coincide with fantasies. There are thousands of well-written erotica-based books that haven't sold a hundred copies, not to talk of 100million. I hear you, you'd probably feel bad giving to someone. Thtd be punishment? |

macaphan007: What is d connection.? |
Re: A Letter To My Children About Fifty Shades Of Grey by UjSizzle(f): 9:03am On Feb 19, 2015 |
Timbuktou:You're right. One of the reasons we read is because we can live out our dreams in them. People nurse some sexual fantasies and this book was a good way of living it out. Nice observation It would be punishment But I guess I could if they insisted. |

@ OtunbaJega I can't remember where I saw/heard this, but so it goes: The first rule of Journalism is give the people what they want. Duhh. I remember a story, in a business book, about a company that launched a "new & improved" dog food. But after all the media circus and fanfare, sales were abysmal. So they decided to investigate. And it happened that, well, dogs DIDN'T like the "new & improved" formula, in even better packaging, very much. Here's a Wiki entry for 50 Shades... Fifty Shades of Grey has topped best-seller lists around the world, including those of the United Kingdom and the United States.[5][6] The series has sold over 100 million copies worldwide and been translated into 52 languages,[7] and set a record in the United Kingdom as the fastest-selling paperback of all time.[8] Critical reception of the book, however, has tended toward the negative, with the quality of its prose generally seen as poor. Take careful note of the closing sentence...and it didn't even fvcking matter. Maybe your idea of romance isn't what the majority of women deem romance. Maybe they don't like your "new & improved" dog food. Women just want to be taken, by a strong man. And they don't fantasize about flowers, and dinner dates or chocolate. 2 Likes |

Please tell them! No doubt morality has taken a deep dive into a deep blue sea. At my work yesterday, some people actually reported seeing peeps deeply romancing while watching the movie at a cinema. So tell me are we going back to what the elite romans were doing in the past? Where they all have disgusting orgy with women they have captured with their social and political musles. The true meaning of sex is lost. Modern freedom will definitely erase its tracks. Youths believe in drunkeness, and physical attraction than any other thing now. I wonder why they still pray for a good man that will respect them when they constantly drop their pants to random people that get them drunk. If you dont have high standard and self worth dont expect respect from any man. PS Am not holy! 2 Likes |

I read the first part of the trilogy and I knew I couldn't bring myself to read fifty shades darker and fifty shades free. The overhype started with the book. I have no thought about seeing the movie. Not worth it. |
