Jonathan, Like Gbagbo, Will Be Disgraced Out Of Power – Obasanjo by Nobody: 8:58pm On Feb 25, 2015
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday said President Jonathan is bent on winning the presidential election by hook or crook.
Obasanjo, who spoke on Saturday, likened President Jonathan to former Ivorian leader, Laurent Gbagbo, who was disgraced out of power and set his country on the path of crisis in his bid to sit tight as the country’s president.

He said Jonathan forced the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, to postpone the general elections “because he (Jonathan) knows he will lose the February 14 presidential election”. Speaking at his Hilltop mansion in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, Obasanjo said: “Gbagbo kept shifting the election date in his country ‎until he lost at the poll and refused to hand over to opposition leader, Alhassan Ouattara, thus setting Cote d’Ivoire in crisis.” He added: “The shift is part of a grand plan by President Goodluck Jonathan to cling to power or create chaos in the country in case his secret plot fails. It is not true that the general elections were shifted because of the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East. This is because countries with full scale wars still conduct elections.

“I was outside the country when INEC announced the postponement. While I was out, I refused to make any categorical statement on this issue because I wanted to come back home and learn at first hand what actually transpired and what was going on, and it turned out to be a forced decision on INEC because it was alleged that the security chiefs‎ were unable to provide security and, as a result, the chairman of INEC had to postpone, in accordance with the dictates of the so-called security chiefs. “I thought, for me, that was bad precedent for democracy in Nigeria. It meant it doesn’t matter what preparation or lack of preparation any electoral body could make in Nigeria; the final decision whether election will take place on the day scheduled for it lies in the domains of the security, it is a sad day for democracy in Nigeria.

“And I will say this: we must all feel concerned before democracy is killed. The observable and what would appear to be happening is that the president has a grand plan, a grand plan to ensure that by hook or by crook, he wins the election or if it all fails, they scuttle it and create chaos, confusion and unpleasantness in the whole country. “Because it is the duty and function and responsibility of the security officers to provide security, the President is the Chief Security Officer of the country and he is the Commander-in-Chief and if security is required anywhere, anytime, it is his duty to provide it. Failure to provide it is dereliction of duty, pure and simple.

“The President is following his own grand plan or his aides and associates are working a script, ‎they are playing a script. What again it looks to me is that the President is trying to play Gbagbo. “Gbagbo was the former President of Cote d’Ivoire and Gbagbo made sure he postponed the election in his country until he was sure he would win and then allowed the election to take place. He got an inconclusive election in the first ballot and I believe this is the sort of thing Nigeria may fall into if I am right in what I observed as the grand plan. “And then in the run-off, Gbagbo lost with eight per cent behind Ouattara and then refused to hand over. All reasonable persuasion and pleading was rebuffed by him and he unleashed horror in that country until nemesis caught up with him. I believe that we may be seeing the repeat of Gbagbo or what I called Gbagbo saga here in Nigeria. I hope not.

“Jonathan is scared of handing over to Buhari because the president fears what his successor might do to him and others if he loses the presidential election. The service chiefs, who reportedly failed to guarantee security for the elections, ought to have been fired by the president. ”It was even made worse when the President in the media chat on the 11th of this month claimed not to have knowledge or not to have authorised it. I get worried, very worried that if the President of Nigeria is not in charge of security, maintenance of law and order and such a decision can be taken behind him, then, there is danger.

“Assuming that is true, then the President is not ruling and then who are the shadow figures who are ruling us? It means that one day, this country would be plunged into chaos, into commotion, into confusion and the President would say, ‘I do not know about it.’ Of course, President can run but he can not run pass God.” “I wonder what those security people are saying that they will finish Boko Haram in six weeks, what they could not do since 2009. Countries like Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Colombia have held elections in spite of ongoing wars.

“Boko Haram problem, as they are now, has been with us since 2009. So, to say that what we have not been able to achieve in six years, we will achieve in six weeks, let us wait and see, that would be my own thing but when people want to make excuses, they should look for excuses that are tenable.”

Those on the path of destruction, would say anything to justify their madness. Ask Gbagbo, he might have said Ivory Coast is not.... b4 he met his inevitable fate.

Nigeria scenario will not turn out like ivory coast ,it would turn out differently because jonathan must go campaign will only take place in lagos and Kano while jonathan must stay will take place in port harcourt, Abuja, jos, calabar, enugu, delta.
In short the whole east, niger delta and middle belt ,the riots in lagos can only kill the economy of the south west as the banks would be relocated to Abuja while the oil companies would move to PH, the attempt by obasanjo to push jonathan away through mass action in lagos will kill lagos economy's life finally, it would not even cause a civil war because investors will be given a soft landing tax free relocation to other parts of Nigeria especially Abuja.
Once the oil companies go back to PH,the banks go to Abuja the telecommunications companies would have no other option than to activate their fail over sites in Abuja and move core operation to Abuja.

Like most prophets predicted this would like June 12,please note the core people manning petroleum ministry, central bank and finance ministry and NCC are niger delta or delta igbos. When these companies leave lagos ,lagos would experience the worst form of man power hermorhage as every skilled manpower even job seekers would follow suite, the lagos IGR would move from N 20B monthly to N 20B per annum.

The summary is that the Gbagbo situation cannot and will never work in nigeria against Jonathan , if it was possible it would have happened against Abacha who was eve more hated, isolated by the West

Na today nyash dey back?

Dem no they kno who d owner of house be, untill e catch fire... So u think say Abuja, Jos or Middle belt na Jona strongholds? And he'll be safe in any of those places if war come, abi?

BTw, without other regions to sell spare parts to, what economy would the SE depend on, is it SS oyel? If you think SS would want to be part of Biafra, you should sobber up. Politics aside, the average SSoutherner is more scared of the SEasterner than the "hated" Northerner. God forbid, if war comes, Igbos properties/businesses wont be spared in SS much less middle belt. Hasnt history taught you anything?

No tribe is more invested outside its regions than the Igbos, and they would suffer the most financially in the event of such chaos, u think u can sacrifice all that for Some foolish Ijaw man? or u think the Ijaw nation would sacrifice their oyel for igbos...smh. Unlike political ragmarole, war brings out the true color of people.

Who controls nollywood, Nigeria's mega film industry, who controls the nigerian and African football, who controls African female football ,who is the most enterprising tribe in Africa, which tribe produces the richest musicians in nigeria and Africa, igbos are not just spare parts trading, if there is war in nigeria and the east is not the war theatre, every body would suffer it one way or the other.
.if you think the middle belt will support Buhari or the core North then think again

So, it has gone to na we get dis, na we get that, so therefore? and from only lagos will suffer to "every body would suffer". Anyways, e be like say, small sense don dey reach u small small. As for Middle Belt, They may not like North/Buhari, but they dislike the SE/Igbos even more.

I tell people that all the time. They are Hausa, Fulani, Tiv, Jukun, Nupe etc first, and Northerners second. Who fought the Civil War? Mostly the so - called Middle-Belterns.
