Since the card reader makes use of a bar code, my emphasis will be based on that. It is my opinion, all constructive criticism are welcome so far is educative to the readers. Here are my reasons for the topic:

1. You can implant a microprocessor or some other electronic device into the PVC reader machine, and that can give anyone control over the output of the machine. Although the card reader is for verification and the storage of numbers of voters acrredited but this numbers can be monitored and altered by anyone that implant the chips into the machine. Am sure INEC has the control over the chip but how about if it had been sabotage to an external body. The numbers accredited and the numbers of voters sent to the control might have been altered by any hacker that have access to the chip. This can cause confusion even if the numbers of ballot papers are counted because INEC will only follow the data sent by the machine.

2. There is a software called "Logic analyzer" though i have not seen it but i have read a lot about it. This software can display the information being exchanged by the card reader and allow you to interfere with the data on the reader but this can only work if you already implant your own chips on the machine

3. The card reader is not encrypted. Information can be hacked by anyone who does digital electronics, although am not an I.T expert i just believe it can happen

4. Poor image and data
Poor image and data will be a major problem during the election. Someone like me that the barcode on my PVC is unclear might experience such problem during the election except the machines are properly configured

5. The shrink wrapping on your voters card can also allow the PVC machine to fail, it is very important that INEC test or verify this highlighted point on saturday(Mock election) to fix such problem before it causes a scanning disorder during the election

6. Too many colour combinations will cause barcode failure e.g The bars against white background or black bars against a green background. Although our PVC are uniform, maybe we may not face such problems

7. Voters mishandling of PVC
The way some of us handle things are somewhat lackadaisical, this can cause the machine not to verify your card if their are any form of intrusions on the card.

Conclusion

Although i will call them hypothesis because it has not been tested and verified by anyone to be true but they sound realistic to the ear. INEC and NFF(Nigeria football federation) possess similar traits. INEC should have been preparing for this vital election since last year, thereby putting the card to test. Nigeria is too complicated to be experimented upon, conducting a mock election on saturday is a welcome development but too late to correct any flaws that might arise. The card reader is good but the defects might be too late to correct if identified.

Your one of the fake consultants deceiving PDP. I knew long ago that the PDP led government shifted the February election so that they will find a way around PVC card readers. they are busy employing hackers to see if they can find a way of penetrating INEC DATABASE.

The boldened reduces the post to a view from someone without a knowledge or understanding of the technology. I however commend you for the honesty

Op u said u were not IT specialist and still u came up wit some logical hypothesis? We can only encourage d system not to castigate it, wat we are told is that card reader accredits n send information to INEC server. It is not use for voting! Why PDP dey fear this state-of-the art technology. PEJ should have said ppl she stone anyone that rejects pvc n not agent of change. Anyway Sai GMB.

Server? Where is the server located? Will there be server in the pooling unit or in Abuja? If in Abuja, will be sent via internet or mobile tech? Just curious!

"The Card reader keeps a tally of all cards read, comprising the details of all voters verified as well as those not verified, and transmits the collected information to a central INEC server via GSM data service.
Information transmitted to the server will enable INEC to audit results from polling units, as well as do a range of statistical analysis of the demographics of voting". You can know about pvc card reader from d below link.

If that was possible, why is not possible for people to vote irrespective of locations?

You confessed you are not an IT expert yet came here to type all that crap. Well, your fears are unfounded. And shall be proven so on saturday.

Let's just home PDP doesn't sabotage the process simply because the want to find an excuse to jettison the usage of the machines. With their level of desperation, they can do virtually ANYTHING.
