Those ladies could be actually advocating for change and Buhari too! See the one dressed like a yoruba woman in blue, that small girl just spoil her runs. She really wanted to steal that red dress but e no work. The first lady in green gown is a professional thief...see how she just tucked that dress into her underwear clinically wh8le the other one was blocking the view of the sales girls with the black dress she was holding.

She must be the first thief to be featured on CCTV in Nigeria,
by the way what's the point having CCTV if you don't monitor it?
expensive waste of useful technology

even in the west, CCTVs are barely monitored in the shops. there's a system in place that would get an arrest with the face captured in the CCTV.

if this shop owner gets the police involved & they print these faces on a national newspaper or make "wanted" posters, the culprits would soon be arrested.

CCTV is rarely monitored eh?

Ok go into Marks and Spencers or Harrods, stuff some clothes into your jacket and try and walk out.
The big shops do monitor their CCTV and the national CCTV you see on roads, airports and other public places is monitored and recorded 24 hours a day.
The only people who 'rarely' monitor CCTV are those who put fake monitors up or some small shop owners. I suspect the reason they don't is they cant afford the staff. Even the small shop owners can be seen watching the monitors from time to time. I can't quote how often because i haven't done a survey nor have i read one regarding monitoring habits..so don't generalise and make statements like you have the statistics in your pocket.

Furthermore we aren't in a country with effective police for you to rely on recognition of the individual after the crime has occurred, do you seriously think the police are going to come round and investigate. Its only the general public that might help identify the culprit but then what next?

they don't monitor their CCTVs....
all the items are tagged electronically. if a thief tries to take the clothes out without removing the tag @ the till, the anti-theft alarm system would be triggered.

no one monitors CCTV.....
it's extra work & waste of money on a job the camera is doing anyways. why would a shop owner pay anyone to sit down and stare at the monitor? grin

Have you seen the security control room of Harrods before? I have and they have security men with radios monitoring the screens as well as patrolling the shop floor.
They don't just rely on tags and yes they do pay people to monitor CCTV and that is a hard fact..

Yeah, they have staff monitoring them, but I don't think the staff do their jobs well, just as coogar said. I know Walmart does little or no monitoring, even many of the big, name brand stores do not have anybody monitoring the floors(expect some of the very exclusive designer store sha o). There has been a time, my friends and I went shopping and we bought water and lots of other things. Because it is too heavy, we put the water and some other heavier stuffs under the cart and we checked out the items. It was after we reached the parking lot and unloaded the cart that we noticed the items underneath... yet the door sensor let us out without beeping, we had to go back in to pay for it. Even the cashier didn't notice. Most big grocery stores hardly do monitoring.

Some clothing stores do not as well. But I know quite a few that tag their clothes with one little plastic thing (I think the thing contains ink) and only the people at the checkout counter can remove it. If you try taking it out of the store the alarm will go off and if by any means you succeed in taking it out, you cannot wear it because the contraption cannot be removed. Forceful removal will cause the ink to be spilled on the clothes and it does not wash out, rendering it useless. But lots and lots of stores hardly monitor those stuffs. Which gives a field day for thieves, sadly.

Oga Coogar, I beg to disagree with you on this one o, big stores have Loss Prevention personnel who monitor these cameras. In large establishments, there's someone in the control room watching a live feed. The electronic tagging helps, but electronic tagging is only as good as if the items are in their original packaging. In MOST instances, the packaging is removed and discarded and the item is taken out. There's no way the anti-theft system will pick it up. The CCTV is the only equipment that picks up such activity.

It's not waste of money considering the shrink value that retail stores go through. Most stores have shrink up to 3%, that's really high... That's literally profit to the store. A store that can save potential thousands of $$$ monthly will like hire one or two control room specialist.
