How Pdp Lost The Presidential Election Since Last Year. by Abagworo(m): 12:17am On Mar 24, 2015
The reason why Nigeria's presidential election has already been won by APC's Buhari is simple. PDP wrongfully used Religion and ethnicity as their campaign propaganda. It is equaly the major reason there might be crisis during and after the elections. Nigeria is majority Muslim and also has more population in the North and West than the East. What PDP did is like turning minority against majority when numbers is the most important target in elections.

When they realised just few months to election the VP Sambo had to make ridiculous statements trying to convince the Muslims that PDP is more Muslim than APC but it came quite late.

The campaign strategy of APC has remained ending corruption which is the reason Buhari has received an overwhelming support because of his incorruptible track records. In addition to that APC has been preaching for change and unity of Nigeria irrespective of religious or ethnic affiliations.

Simple mathematics tells you that North+Southwes-Ekiti is already 70% of Nigerian voting strength and they are the real people that will turn out. SS/SE-Imo,Edo,Akwaibom and Rivers is not up to 20% even if rigged to maximum.

Bro, free them. 4 days from now it will all be over. It seems Jonathan's supporters here on Nairaland live in a bubble that distorts their perception of facts on the ground. Nobody that lives in the real-world would think for a minute that Jonathan can win this election if it's free-and-fair.

Pdp have no shame at all

They have campaigned for more than one year
moving from one state to another with Tanoid

Tanoid claims they have several millions of
supporter ready to vote for Gej; around 48 millions

Yet, when the time came for the real deal
they started all types of trick never
witnessed in the history of Nigeria politic

The people are not fools.

Its just a matter of hours to confirm my analysis. Notice also what happened in Imo, Rivers, Akwaibom and Edo. No leader succeeds by creating sectarian and ethnic hatred as a campaign weapon. Imagine if Obama used racism as campaign if he would have won elections in the US.

Bros your analysis is on point. But unfortunately this is Nigeria where people are so emotional and sentimental than being reasonable. No matter the wisdom u try to expose them to, for them to drop the toga of ethnic and religious bias, they will cling to it tenaciously just as if it gives them some kind of satisfaction.

I think their case is just like that of a porn addict who seems to get some pseudo-satisfaction from porn. No matter how hard u try to change such a person and make them see reason, they will still wallow in their addiction until God's grace delivers such a person.

The PDP tried so hard in dividing the people along religious and ethnic lines and it back fired as expected by intelligent people. Intelligent people that had foresight was telling them, they kept going on, and their supporters were enjoying every bit of it forgetting that politics is a game of numbers.

Their supporters on the internet embarrass the Northerners at every given opportunity calling them all sorts of unbelievable names. They also tagged all muslims boko haram OR supporters of Boko haram.

Jonathan also played his own role by embarrassing Northern leaders like Sanusi, who is a Royal from the most populous state in Northern Nigeria.

He also embarrassed Tambuwal acutely, another Northern leader from a state with heavy votes. The embarrassment meted Tambuwal started from when his flight was denied take-off, to when he was made to climb over the fence of the national assembly just to access the chambers. The IG of police edged on by Jona also refused to acknowledge him as the speaker extrajudicial to the chagrin of Northerners but to the applause of PDP supporters. Then, they thought they were going to laugh last.

The clannishness of the present PDP leadership under Jona was even reflected in the campaigns of his wife. She refused to go and campaign in the far North tht has heavy votes and asides that, she continually made disparaging comments about the Northerners at her campaign speeches.

The other PDP leeches as well did not want to be outshone. As they sponsored different newspaper Ads that caused the Northerners so much embarrassment.

Unfortunately for the PDP, the SW which they can rely on to counter some of the Northern votes is kind of liberal and votes mainly on performance. They also have sizable muslim population, who has been severely embarrassed by the current administration as a result of their mishandling the boko haram issue.

The North Central that they can turn to also has sentimental attachment to the North and also a sizable muslim population.

To be sincere, i'm even surprised that GEJ can still garner the number of votes he got in the core North due to all the factors above.

The PDP propaganda of hate against GMB worked well in the SE and SS. Unfortunately for the PDP, the SE peeps saw no reason to troop out enmass and participate in this election. They recorded abysmally low voter turnout. Their victory there could not counter the heavy Northern votes.

INEC tried to make the votes in the SS reflect the actual voter turnout against the background of the 2011 mago-mago, but the PDP still succeeded in manipulating votes especially in Rivers. Unfortunately for them as well, the numbers were not enough to counter the votes from the other 4 geopolitical zones who voted for change.

This election has given us a very rich result that we'll continue to analyse for a very long time.

One thing I really like about the outcome, was the failure of the PDP despite their attempt of using religious and ethnic sentiments and churning out cash in unbelievable magnitude.

PDP seems not to have learnt their lessons as attempt at using ethnic sentiments is also deplored in Lagos. This has somewhat set a good number of Yorubas against an equally good number of Igbos, despite that the Lagos contest is even btw two Yoruba men.

Well by this time next week, the result will be out and we'll start analysing it again.
