Kenya's president Uhuru Kenyatta today congratulated the president elect Gen Buhari and also commended Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat thanking him for the efforts he put to promote fruitful engagements between Kenya and Nigeria during his tenure. Please Jonathan is not a hero. i would say Jonathan is a noble man who did the normal thing, may be because we are not used to normal in this part of the world thats why we are calling him a hero.

If you have been watching African current affairs for nearly 20 years...or more...you would know that many African leaders do not just had over power easily.

Take Mobutu Sese Seko Kuku Ngbendu Wa Zabanga (doesn't the name sound sweet for mouth?). Pretended to be a democrat.....but still behaved like a African chief. (Personally....I think he was actually born 500 years ago frozen by aliens and reanimated to come and torment the Congolese people ).

Or IBB of Nigeria...who started a transition programme and said he would hand over in 1989....then 1990....then 1992....then 1993....then 1997....then 1999.... then 2049...(just kidding ).

Or Kenneth Kaunda who handed over because his Western backers persuaded him.

African leaders and power.....and some of them would even throw off all pretense and declare themselves Emperor....like Jean Bedel Bokassa....Emperor Bokassa the First.....the man with several wives and concubines...and who may or may not have served human meat at his coronation(Was eventually found not guilty of canniballism at his trial long after he was overthrown...because the judges decided that it was all hearsay). Or Houphouet-Boigny of Ivory Coast (I do not believe in reincarnation......but that gent was the reincarnation of the dead fench king Louis the Fourteenth...whose famous quote was I am the State.). Or "His Excellency, President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Seas and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular"...who made no pretense of democracy.And don;t get me started on Ghaddafi, and the Tunisian gent with 99.9% vote rate.

Honestly I do not like GEJ....but he was never a dictator.

l wish our first lady was cool headed like the wife of the kenya's president, Uhuru Kenyatta. l live in Nairobi & one rarely see her on TV let alone see her openly involve in politics despite the fact she is well spoken, over ajebutter dey worry her!
