Fajuyi and July 29 1966 coup....

For those of you who called and sent mails etc. urging me to join in the fray that was the storm on the 29th of July, I respond by asking you to Surulere… to hold on…for according to Zik  nwa mgbada na awuji ukwu ma egwu jene ejene….the dancer is breaking his legs when the music is only about to start!! January 15th revolution according to nearly all the surface historians of that period  logically produced the  revanchist bloodbath of  the 29th July of that ugly year.
In a matter of some few more weeks everything you would want to know about this often blurry and merciless uprising leading to the wipe of many fine officer corps from some definite part of this country would be out. That is the back breaking work of over 25 years. Meanwhile we are disturbed by the truculent pronouncements of Jerry boy….Useni who by 1966 was scrounge driver who drove in the soldiers into the Western Government House on that fateful night. That killer squad later tie up their Supreme Commander and the courageous Francis Fajuyi to the  army landrover tyres dragging them on concrete pathways to their gory deaths. If Francis Fajuyi was not was not condemned why the torture before death? Why was condemned and wanted dead as much as his guest? Was he actually part of the revolutionary leftist group of the Nigerian army of the that period? His sister Mrs. Ajayi was very convincing in her revealing Interview with the Punch. Mrs. Ajayi disclosed that the Military Governor had warned her other elder sister not to ‘soil his name’ in registering a company and actually asking the late Governor to help her with Government contracts!
Above all what was the core motive that drove the January 15 Revolution? To release Awo from prison and offer him the Prime Minister of in place of Alhaji A. Balewa who was a strict conservationist. Was Awo inspite of the failure of the Revolutionaries not going to be released on that fateful July 29th!The letter signed by the Supreme Commander was on his table ready to go to Ojukwu in Enugu! Who was ever trenchant on this issue and who opposed the trial of Nzeogwu and his boys?
Finally, all these incomplete chroniclers in their biases refuse deliberately jump to the fable that some Igbo killed the leadership of the North and since then the Northern rage has refused any consolation. When will they read the Nobel laurete The Man Died. He wrote all about it. There was going to be a merciless coup, January 17th 1966 just like the one we saw on July 29th the same ugly year. Apart from saving the Wetie West, the Tivs from extinction, preserving their revolutionary badge, and releasing Awo and making him the Prime Minister, the boys needed to act fast to prempt the murderous other flank who showed their deadly teeth six months later. Who were those officers? Major Nzeogwu knew all of them for he was the officer that established the Intelligence Unit of the Nigerian Army! He was not afraid of any trials and before he was moved from Lagos Prisons he demanded for a trial but a public trial!
Colonel Adekunle Francis Fajuyi was courage and an epidemy of the finest soldier. General Danjuma , General Gowon , Brigadier Robert Adeyinka Adebayo are all alive. We are all waiting for them to say exactly what happened on the fateful 29th night of July 29th of 1966. Otherwise, the great Governor’s correct chapter in the military history of Nigeria will remain like distorted and many threads deliberately torn into pieces to confuse and deceive the lazy and the uninitiated.
As has been my experience, this piece is surely going to put me on the spot. I have not released my latest findings especially our dip into the latest papers from the newly declassified United States briefs on Nigerian military during the civil war.
‘’Major Francis Fajuyi, opened  a new page in the military history  of our army….By his gallantry and leadership, he became the first officer of the Royal Nigerian Army to be honored with the highest British medal of Courage -the Victory Cross’’  –   The Royal Nigerian Army Magazine Vol. 11, May , 1962.
‘’There have been many serious lies that have been told  by our leaders…….
It is the general belief among Nigerians  that Fajuyi  offered to die with his guest Ironsi…. that is why I often say we are living  in error. As an eyewitness, I say it is not true.  In the first place, Fajuyi had no choice as the coup makers had deliberately scheduled the main operation for his Government House. In  fact, the first indication of blood shed we had was when Danjuma walked up to Fajuyi and tore his epaulet.  Having  trained at JSSC, I knew that tearing an officer’s epaulet meant he is to be killed.’’ – Olabode Wey, former Head of Service and Secretary to the Federal Military Government.
Foreign escapades for the Nigerian military has been generally exulting. Nigeria’s military intervention in foiling the first and last attempted coup in Tanzania and its determined confrontation of the Charles Taylor’s siege of democracy in Liberia and Sierre Leone were critical to the restoration of disciplined and accountable governments in those states. As a visiting conflict scholar, it was a marvel to accost the majestic presence of the Nigerian Contingent in Angola under General Chris Garba.
All the same, it was in 1960 that the Nigerian military attained the watershed.  For the first time ever, the United Nations handed over  its contingent command in the Congo to a  Nigerian, Brigadier J.T.U. Aguiyi Ironsi. He was the first Black Commander assigned to such a high brass command of recognition and universal responsibility.
And recently  Lieutenant General Obiakor became the first ever Black supremo commander of United nations command  to attain the top rank as the commander of the UN peace contingent.
While Ironsi seized the headlines, there were two officers, whose outstanding heroism and leatherneck command  in the Congo, earned them the respect of their colleagues and brought fear to the enemy. Indeed, while an infamous Niger Delta officer was charged for diamond piracy and consequently Court Marshaled, those  two Nigerian officers earned the the British highest honor for outstanding courage, the Military Medal…MC.
Professor Bolaji Akiyemi was very open. He would be grateful if anybody would add another brave awardee to the record set by Col. Fajuyi. We said it during the burial of the late Commander of the dreaded Biafran 11th Division. Colonel Dibia, Conrad Nwawo with the Late Fajuyi were the only two Nigerian Officers ever to earn the British Military Cross.

Nigerian army forces suspected militants to flee Arepo

Following the five days of the intense bombardment of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) the Nigerian soldiers have destroyed the defence of the bloodthirsty hoodlums at Arepo in Ogun state. The Punch reports that the Special Boat Service of the Nigerian Navy led the ground attack against the vandals on August 2. However, the operatives met little or no confrontation as they fired their way into the heart of the vandals’ territory where several innocent security men were killed and buried.

Brig. Gen. Rabe Abubakar, the director of defence information, confirmed the beginning of the ground operation against the vandals. He underlined that the operation was intended to continue until the vandals were completely detached from the nation’s pipeline at Arepo. Abubakar added that some of the vandals fled Arepo to Tongeji, an island off the coast of Badagary, where they were said to have held a meeting. According to him, some of the suspected militants also fled to Snake Island, continuing that efforts were ongoing to track them. He said: “That operation is a continuous one. Some of them fled to Tongeji Island where they had a meeting and Snake Island, off the general area of Arepo. “That is where they are moving to but we are able to block the general area of Arepo. “We are mounting all round defence surveillance to ensure that those who sneaked into the place are arrested and denied free movement or regrouping. “You know other security agencies are involved like the civil defence, the police and you know, it has been a joint one.

“So, each of the security agencies is giving its own expertise and knowledge to ensure that those who might have escaped are apprehended to deny them from regrouping and causing unnecessary havoc again.” At the same time, the Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta, stated that the security outfit would not let any form of declaration of republic in the region. The one of the Niger Delta militant groups the Adaka Boro Avengers had issued a warning to Yorubas and Hausas in the region to vacate while also advising Niger Delta people to region as it planned to declare the region independent on August 1. However, the group later cancelled its planned declaration of an independent republic.

Who is Boko Haram’s New Leader And What Do We know About Him?

On August 3rd 2016, the Islamic State (IS) announced via the 41st issue of its newspaper al-Naba, a new leader for Boko Haram, its West African affiliate in Nigeria.
His name is Abu Musab Al-Barnawi and very little is known about him except for the fact that he was a former spokesperson for Boko Haram

President Muhammad Buhari’s pledge to fight terrorism head-on in his administration has seen the Islamic-sect Boko Haram lose most of the territory it controlled barely 18 months ago.

Its former leader, Abubakar Shekau, who took over from the founder of the terrorist group Muhammad Yusuf, was last heard from in August 2015, in an audio record tape where he boasted about being alive and evading the Nigerian military. Yusuf was publicly executed outside the police headquarters in Maiduguri.

Under Shekau’s administration, the terrorist group became ruthless and its seven-year insurgency left more than 20,000 people dead, mostly in the northern part of the country.

On 14 April 2014, Boko Haram coordinated the kidnapping of 274 female students in the town of Chibok in Borno state. The abduction got widespread condemnation worldwide, with many pointing fingers at former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration for its “weak and slow” handling of the terrorist group.

Even though the Nigerian army claimed to have either killed or captured Shekau, he continued to taunt the Nigerian Authorities in numerous recordings.

According to reports, IS were annoyed by Shekau’s orders to use children as suicide bombers, and his defiance of instructions to stop and extremism eventually led to his termination.

“He’s been told by ISIL to stop doing that (using Children as suicide bombers) but he has not done so. That is one of the reasons why this splinter group has broken off,” Marine Lieutenant General Thomas Waldhauser told Reuters in June.

In late March 2015, Boko Haram announced its allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

Even though there is little information about al-Barnawi, Information Nigeria understands he appeared once in a Boko Haram clip around 2015, posing as the group’s spokesman.

In one of his interviews, he was strongly against the name Boko Haram, which translates as “Western Education is Forbidden” in Hausa.

Military destroy criminal bases of vandals, oil thieves — 3rd August 2016 ( Philip Nwosu, LAGOS ) Barely 24 hours after the ground troops, made of Soldiers from 174 Battalion in Ikorodu and personnel of the Nigerian Navy Special Boat Service (SBS) started the ground maneuver to rid the creeks of Arepo and other areas of vandals and oil thieves, over 140 camps of the militants scattered in the area have been destroyed, Daily Sun can now authoritatively report. It was gathered that 75 camps were destroyed on Wednesday, while another 65 camps were destroyed earlier on Tuesday. A key military source told Daily Sun that apart from destroying 140 camps, the military also recovered full police uniform bearing the rank of a corporal and a military uniform. Other items that were recovered in the camps of the vandals include four dane guns 36 cartridges 20 cutlasses, two bags of Omo, half bag of Garri, half bag of rice, a computer set, a cheque book and an identity card. Also Daily Sun learnt that 8 speed boat allegedly belonging to the vandals were destroyed by the military ground troops who are presently ran sacking the camps inside the creeks of Arepo, Ishawo, Awawa and other areas. Troops it was gathered have vowed to rid the area of criminals. The movement of the ground troop came in the wake of an intensified security in Badagry area of Lagos State over reports that militants had fled to the area. Daily Sun learnt that the Command of the ground troops is Lieutenant Colonel Julius Ogbobe, the Commander of the Land Component of Operation Awatse. The heightened security situation in Badagry it was gathered became necessary following reports that militants from Arepo area of Ogun had fled to Badagry due to the aerial bombardment of their camps by Air Force personnel. Investigation around the Badagry area and other neighbouring communities showed that security agencies have been deployed in strategic areas, and soldiers attached to the Lagos State security initiative commonly called Operation Mesa (OP MESA) haves been deployed in strategic areas in Badagry. On Tuesday there were reports that some suspected vandals from the Arepo area of Ogun State have fled the area to riverine communities in the Ilaje and Ese-Odo local government areas of Ondo State. Daily Sun investigations on Monday indicated that the vandals, who survived the intensified aerial bombardment by the Nigerian Air Force of their camps at Arepo, Ogun, and Ikorodu, Lagos, are now moving in droves into Ondo and Delta States. A top military source told Daily Sun that intelligence reports reveal that some of the oil thieves had sneaked into the reverine communities in Delta and Ondo States, but added that there will be no hiding place for the fleeing hoodlums. One of the Commanders of the operation said, ‘‘Arepo can no longer contain them. Some of them have run to those state to hide in the riverine areas.’’

AIR OPERATIONS IN SUPPORT OF OPERATION AWATSE: GENERAL PUBLIC ADVISED NOT TO PANIC
The attention of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has been drawn to media report on apprehension and panic by members of the public living around the area of ongoing air operations at AREPO and its environs. Thus, it has become necessary to allay the fear of the people with a view to sustaining public confidence and support for the ongoing operations against pipeline-vandals codenamed OPERATION AWATSE in the South West region of the Country. Therefore, the NAF wishes to assure the general public, within the affected areas, of their safety as the ongoing air operation is carefully planned to avoid collateral damage to the civil populace and property.
The NAF is careful to ensure that only legitimate targets, such as observation post, anti-aircraft gun position, boats laden with suspected stolen petroleum products and armed combatants, are selected for strike. In aligning with this global best practice, the NAF usually undertakes surveillance flights before and after each strike to mitigate incidental harm to civilians and property. While pre-strike assessment missions are undertaken to help identify and select legitimate military targets for neutralisation, post-strike or Battle Damage Assessment missions are meant to ascertain whether the desired degree of impact was achieved or not, and if a follow-up re-attack is required. It may also be necessary to state that NAF pilots are adequately trained, and as professionals, would not engage in human right violations and abuses. The successes recorded in the past 5 days since the NAF commenced strike mission in AREPO, in support of surface forces under OPERATION AWATSE, attest to this display of absolute professionalism by NAF pilots involved in the operation as no single incident of collateral damage has been recorded.
Meanwhile, it is necessary to add that the NAF, working in collaboration with men of the Nigerian Navy Special Boat Services (SBS), has set on fire the hideouts and camps used by the pipeline vandals in AREPO. As a result, Community leaders and members of the public with useful information on the whereabouts of the fleeing vandals and other criminal elements are please requested to oblige such information to the Security Agencies. Furthermore, the civil populace is please advised not to panic but to go about their legitimate businesses.

So after all my theory was right about BH lacking direction and ideology with attachments to foreign terrorists groups.

Their attempts were only to gain attention or tangible support which they have gained little from except for media announcements. Isn't the relative lack of control or adherence to the so called ishit the reason why they're trying so hard to give cpr to the dead franchise naming a new leader.

Shequack claims in a new statement now that he remains the leader. Now watch how it'll probably lead to efforts to reach out to Al qaida for relevance if he feels that old franchise is lost.

At the moment, both factions remain local champions losers hoping to get actual support which has seen the group acting haywire. Plus after attacking the local population, lost a significant appeal... Little too late. Hopefully grassroots level initiatives can stem the tide of potential recruits.

Advice for non muslims to be extra vigilant.

Nigeria blacklists firm for allegedly diverting explosives

The Nigerian Government on Thursday blacklisted the Nigerian Development and Construction Company (NDCC), an importer and seller of explosives in Koko, Delta State, for allegedly diverting explosives.
In a statement, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Kayode Fayemi, ordered the company’s business premises should immediately be sealed off,
He also ordered the withdrawal of the company’s licenses.
It says an investigation by the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), reveled the company was involved illegal diversion of explosives between 2015 and 2016.
The minister also warned manufacturers, importers, sellers and end users of explosives in the country to desist from unprofessional activities, including the sale, procurement, storage and use of explosives
He said anyone who disobeys this order will be going against the provisions of the Explosives Act of 1964 , the Explosives Regulations of 1967 and other extant policy directives.
Nigeria has been battling Islamic sect Boko Haram for about 7 years now.
It has used explosive to conduct its attack in the past.
The group whose name means, “Western education is forbidden” has killed more than 20,000 people and displaced more than 2.4 million.
However, in the past few months, the military has succeeded in beating back the Islamist militant sect and significantly reduced the amount of suicide attacks on innocent civilians in the northeast.
