PRESS RELEASE NAF ESTABLISHES DIRECTORATE OF VETERAN AFFAIRS In a bid to stimulate better welfare packages for Nigerian Air Force (NAF) veterans and their families, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao has approved the immediate establishment of the Directorate of Veteran Affairs. The new Directorate, domiciled under the Administration Branch, will also be responsible for interfacing with similar structures in sister Services towards harnessing necessary benefits for NAF retirees under existing Federal Government programmes for veterans, among other responsibilities. The CAS disclosed this while recently declaring open a 2-day Conference for NAF Administrative and Medical personnel. The Conference with the theme, “Efficient Human Resource Management: Panacea for Bolstering Morale and Improving Personnel Welfare”, attracted seasoned and erudite resource persons with vast knowledge in human resource management as well as experts in the field of medicine. In his opening remarks, Air Marshal Amao noted that the NAF considers the state of physical and mental well-being of its personnel, which he described as an important factor in the sustenance of morale, as a force multiplier in ensuring operational effectiveness. He also pointed that the Conference was one in a series of conferences aimed at refocusing operational capabilities and bolstering personnel morale. He emphasized that the strength of any armed Service is not determined by the strength of its arsenal, but also by the professionalism of its workforce, which is largely bolstered through robust human resource management. According to him, in the last 2 months, the NAF had launched the Telemedicine portal to ensure access to prompt medical attention, whilst promoting confidence in NAF medical services for enhanced morale and productivity of personnel. He stated further that the outcome of such innovations would stimulate NAF human resource management efforts to be at par with global organizational standards and best practices. Air Marshal Amao challenged participants to critically assess areas where the NAF was lacking as regards personnel welfare and administration and come up with workable solutions to mitigate effects on the Service’s operational capabilities. “As a highly technical Service that deals with sophisticated aircraft, equipment and military hardware, maintaining a highly skilled, efficient, healthy and motivated workforce should be the hallmark of our daily activities. To this end, we will continue to epitomize best human resource management practices to promote our operational effectiveness”, he said. While expressing the profound gratitude of the NAF to President Muhammadu Buhari, for his unwavering and continued support, the CAS assured of NAF’s commitment to the successful execution of constitutional roles for a peaceful and united Nigeria. Earlier, the Air Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Mahmud Madi had stated that the timing for the conference was apt, considering the strategic importance of the human resource in achieving organizational goals and objectives. He also stated that the NAF has invested hugely in human capacity development and personnel welfare in recent years which has translated to tangible gains in NAF operational conducts. In the same vein, the Chief of Medical Services, Air Commodore Olabode Babalola revealed the desire of the CAS to ensure that the NAF Medical Services measure up to the global best practice. According to him, the CAS’ approval of the Medical Conference is a further attestation of his willingness to improve healthcare delivery in the NAF. During the 2-day Conference, 4 papers were presented by seasoned and experienced human resource managers and medical practitioners. Papers relevant to administrative management presented included, “Human Resource Management and Administrative Service Delivery in NAF”, delivered by Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Kure (Rtd) and “Human Resource Management Development: A vital Tool for Achieving Organizational Goals”, delivered by Dr (Mrs) Boma Akhiojemi. Papers relevant to the medical field delivered included, “Telemedicine and its Prospects in the NAF by Dr (Mrs) Funmi Adewara and “Drug Abuse and Post -Traumatic Stress Disorder” delivered by Air Commodore Bashir Yakassai (Rtd). Participants for the Conference were drawn from all NAF units nationwide. Edward Gabkwet Air Commodore Director of Public Relations and Information Nigerian Air Force 30 July 2021 1 Like |

Xbee007: They should start including clearance operations in these missions, many of the bandits would have escaped and would return to their bases after the operation. While fleeing from air assaults, the bandits will abandon supplies, arms and ammunitions, those things shouldn't just be left there for the terrorists to come back to recover. Often, locals have reported seeing bandits flee on highways from air operations, just setting up fighting patrols and checkpoints across highways close to the terrorist bases will significantly increase their casualties. It will also prevent the bandits from ressuplying their bases. What bokoharam is doing to the highways leading to Maiduguri is what the army is supposed to be doing to the bases of terrorist and bandits alike. 7 Likes |

komekn: You know yourself you are suffering from the early stages of dementia. And why not go and work for CNN best at setting false narratives. All these mischievous guys with multiple monikers you can actually do something better with your lives rather than ventilating your frustrated and ignorant lives in public. After hyping vintage aircrafts of your beloved "powerful" sub-saharan African countries you went on to castigate Nigeria's by your carefully chosen degrading incorrect designation of the aircrafts. You are silly, s.ick and high on a new brand of contaminated weed you can't help. How further demented can someone be to go so low like all the other fake news outlets and their minions like you and the lone arrogant deluded Southie still gasping for air here that can't stand the reality of a true giant of Africa. First and foremost most aircrafts are developed from prior aircrafts save mostly for the United States, Germany in consortium with France and the UK or in some cases Russia that would invest money in R & D for a whole new generation concept of fighter aircrafts. You carefully designated the aircrafts of those poor countries you mentioned except South Africa to make it high sounding, modern and powerful. I will not join you in that charade. Because that's the joke of the century. But here are the salient facts: First they are not in the numbers you mention except on paper. Most of them are inactive. Many of them don't meet the specifications necessary to have the advantage in air warfare. Two people can drive the same BMW doesn't mean they are of same specifications. Nigeria's A-29 Super Tucano is not same with that of Mali. In fact Nigeria's Super Tucano is among the most advanced 4th generation Aircrafts in the world for a turboprop, learn to ask why that is so. Now in summary let us correctly designate the Nigerian Air Force Fleet. We have the JF-17 Thunder not your mischievous J7, that's only in your mind and apparent bitter hatred for Nigeria. The brand new NAF JF-17 Thunder has a beyond visual range and stand off weapon delivery capability with MFDs display and data-links. No sub-saharan Air Force apart from Uganda's Su-30s has BVR but then with no air-to-ground capability and suffering pilot drain. The NAF JF-17 Thunder comes with what some experts call the world's most advanced air-to-air BVR missile that gives NAF fighter pilots the capability to fire from any angle of attack without having to visually see or get behind enemy aircraft to hit the target with certainty. The J-7 is the designation for the F-7 still in Chinese PLAAF service and still in use with many air forces world over. It is not your vintage Mig-21 rather the modern version of the Mig-21 from which the Mig-29 and now Mig-35 evolved. The Nigerian Version F-7Ni has a more modern avionics, cockpit, air-to-air and air-to-ground capabilities and versatile for air interdiction and pin-point air defence with excellent turning rates. Try go up against it! The work horse Alpha Jets of the NAF is more than 13 in number even after some losses due to attrition. The NAF continues to make available this aircraft for sorties round the clock. It has suffered high attrition rates because of its rugged use in active combat over the years from Liberia and Sierra Leone to the Niger-Delta against MEND, The Gambia and now on a daily ground over the North-East against terrorists and in the North-West against bandits. Experts think differently than you think, what they see is a versatile Air Force that can indigenously make available parts for an aircraft that is no longer in production and be able to employ same in air combat duties. This is not known in any other sub-saharan Air Force presently. Those who claim they do we have no evidence nor intelligence they can bring it to bear in actual combat which has proven true in their own domestic quagmire. Then we have the L-39s which were not intended necessarily for combat when Nigeria bought them but also now employed in combat operations after being retrofitted. Nigeria is sending some of it's other fixed wing aircrafts for upgrades and maintenance overseas while others are done domestically. In addition to that the NAF is acquiring more modern aircrafts on a pace no sub-saharan African nation can match in the short term. Another important factor for the NAF is human capacity which is unrivaled in Africa. The nations you mentioned is laughable. When you say Sudan and that grandiose you mentioned what comes to mind is Iran telling us it is producing a fighter Jet are you calling us nuts! You need to be sent back to kindergarten. This is the Sudan with all its hardware typical of any Arab Army can't stop the secession of South Sudan which trounced it back and forth until it achieved independence. Neither could Sudan quell internal insurgencies except sending its Janja.wee.d militia to rape, kill and pillage in Darfur until UN peacekeepers came in. Then you mention Ethiopia that was taken to task by tiny Eritrea with obsolete weapons and now your mighty Ethiopia is begging for a ceasefire from it's own Tigray people. You must be kidding us. Where is all their Sukhoi jets you reeled out. Please the joke is on you. The same goes for all the other nations you just mentioned. South Africa got spanked in Bangui by rag tag rebels and fled for safety even begging the French to come save them. Dem no born that country well wey try Naija, you know how we do we go roast them for fire. You can't even try it cos the Nigerians will keep coming until its dignity is acquitted for. Please stop putting Nigeria in the same category as those nations you mentioned. I only just mentioned some fixed wing aircrafts with which we are doing wonders not even our modern rotary aircrafts some of the best in the world not even Africa and then UCAVs also among the best in the world and number one in all of Africa and then satellite and defense intelligence unmatched and unrivaled which gives us the advantage of first-see-first-kill capability in the event of war. This is just the NAF and beyond all that we have the money and the intelligent set of people to prosecute any war anywhere in Africa even with all our internal wahala to its logical conclusion. When the US tell you Nigeria is the most important country in Africa they know what they mean and that's not because of oil but its people. Take your child school antics elsewhere. 5 Likes 3 Shares |

jpphilips: Generally speaking only idiots, mentally incapable people and the afflicted by inferiority complex would follow Oodua Nation or IPOB. Where thing get done there is no tribalism. Only business. Nigeria is a united country under mammon, business, money and corruption. I will continue to insult people spreading separatist ideology. Nigeria's only problem is CORRUPTION. The people complaining about Naija are those screened off of it. No access. This Hushpuppi would have been Governor one day considering the way empty headed, soulless young Nigerians were following him on IG. He could even have been President and Abba Kyari and Kyari's bosses would have been his handlers for life because they would have had blackmailing leverage. Abba Kyari's extortions and bribes were mostly likely shared up the food chain. So Kanuri, Fulani, Yoruba and Igbo united by crime and you want to tell me Nigeria is unfair. God has already weighed you all and is delivering his punishments. That includes that Nigeria will never beak up until you all salvage it together. 13 Likes 2 Shares |

Coolliot: No it was not "likely a training exercise". And what is with you guys, always complaining. Those Aircrafts are in very good condition. They are meant to last a number of years and certainly more than 20 years. And yes as time goes on they get what they need. Haba, instead of celebrating the prowess we all see it's to poke holes here and there. I bet you if this was in South Africa Defenceweb will publish it with all the ullalabos and y'all will sing along the chorus but I bet probably no Nigerian publication will publish this feat talkless to celebrate it. Do you guys think it is moi moi to even land helicopter on a warship before you talk of sea rescue. The sea conditions at the time made the Navy helicopters appropriate for the rescue and the Ships captain is in better position to make that judgment or do you want the boat to capsize. A vessel was stricken because of the waves and they sent helicopters in time before arriving on the scene. What's with our psyche really in Nigeria. The whole fallout of political malfeasance has ill affected any sense of national pride or Nigerian values. 8 Likes 1 Share |
