The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed media reports that the Managing Director of Capital Oil & Gas Industries Limited, Mr. Ifeanyi Ubah, had been arrested.

The fake rumour claimed that the Police Special Fraud Unit arrested him for alleged involvement of his firm in a N22.4 billion kerosene subsidy fraud.

Also the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) of which Uba is a chieftain has urged the public to ignore the rumour, saying it was the handiwork of mischief makers. This was done via their official twitter handle and facebook page.

Uba had few days ago addressed a press conference in Lagos in which he claimed that his life was in danger for supporting President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Ubah is a dedicated business man who vehemently supported the transformation policies of president Goodluck Jonathan and his re-lection via his NGO, TAN.

The EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, told Daily Independent that there was nothing like that and urged the public to disregard the claim.

The man, Dr Ifeanyi Uba is a noble man and has nothing to hide so I never believed in d said arrest. So am not surprise when d news came out dat he wasn't arrested initially. God bless Ifeanyi Uba and may he continue to prosper

Arrest him for what exactly!! Anyway, the EFCC has dismissed the cock and bull story of Dr Ifeanyi Uba being arrested.. no amount of propaganda will erase his goodwill and kindheartedness

It's really sad the manner the opposition is trying to sell dummy to the people. All attempts of intimidation of the Igbos in voting for their preferred candidates in lagos will fail. They succeeded in conspiring against GEJ which led to his defeat. The falsehood against Dr Ifeanyi Ubah wouldn't stop the decision of the people. If anyone has any case of graft against him, this should be directed through the normal channel. Let it be known that we still have a government that believes so much in the rule of law. The efforts of Ubah should be commended in amplifying the transformation feast o. GEJ'S administration. Many of us wouldn't have known what GEJ did if not for the TAN publicity. We should not thump up unnecessary cases against Ifeanyi Ubah.
