Barely four weeks to inauguration date,
President-elect, General Muhammadu
Buhari has rejected moves by the
Department of State Services (DSS), to
replace his Chief Security Officer (CSO)
with a new officer.
According to a source close to the DSS as
soon as General Buhari emerged as
President-elect, the Service hurriedly
moved to replace his CSO, but met a brick
wall as the President-elect vehemently
rejected the offer which he viewed with
suspicion and insisted that he would
prefer to retain and continue with CSO
AbdulRahman Mani as against having a
new officer to be posted to him.
The Director-General of the DSS was
believed to have gone to General Buhari
to explain to him that based on his new
position as President-elect, he was
deserving of an officer with a higher rank
to that of Mani.
But General Buhari, a former Head of
State and a military General, who
understands the workings of the system,
said there was nothing wrong in
promoting Mani to the next rank to
enable him qualify for a job he is already
used to doing.
Accordingly and in line with the request
of the President-elect, the Director-
General of the DSS left and returned the
following day with a letter approving the
appointment of Mani as the substantive
CSO to General Buhari.

But Buhari just asks for an upgrade to the next level so that the CSO he has can continue. There's nothing tribal or nepotistic in that, unlike Minimah's who is GEJ's tribesman. Are you now saying of the 14 senior officers passed, none is more qualified than Minimah?

Promotion doesn't base on year of service alone. In fact there are lots of variables and factors consider for an officer in civil service to be promoted.

When Buhari never be president, the guy dey by him side, now he has won and you win remve the guy, na which kind wickedness be that.

They should go and plot another. The General has jumped and passed this one.

is na a crime to work with who ur spirit agree with,they can forget about d promotion,he just want a low ranking mani to be with him,a strong teeth dog is better than a toothless lion.

I think the guy was just one step below the required rank..... so promoting him to that rank was too much of big deal
